Good video but it’s just to many categories. Bikini seems to be basically a fit lady who power walks and eating healthy. Whichever one is about asses is absurd. “Ya, I walk on stage and stick my ass out”’ 😂. I mean that’s about it. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️. Just give me the fit muscular lady and the BB ladies. The rest is LAME. Well to be clear I don't know her so I can't say, and there's also no benefit for a woman admitting that. But any wellness pros NOT on gear would be a shock and an outlier. Any (competitive) IFBB Wellness-type body built naturally would be like a 1-in-10,000,000 genetic outlier. Not impossible, but highly unlikely.

Is there a body fat percentage goal with each category?
@darin_starr25 күн бұрын
There are ranges but I don't fixate on it because body fat percentage isn't something you can accurately measure, regardless of the means. It's entirely a visual game and you will always be best served by focusing on THAT above all else. It's not a data point I even track or care about with clients. Body weight (scale) and visuals give us all the data we need to make decisions in prep, combined with subjective factors (how things feel, etc).

Manon Dutilly is in a league of her own. Please do not take what I'm saying out of context when it comes to women's bodybuilding. I Recalled the 1980s when there was only one category for women to compete in during the Olympia; you had different physiques and different builds, but only one woman dominated. That lady was Cory Everson. Manon Dutilly reminds me of Cory Everson. If you do not know who Cory Everson is, educate yourself, but realize that during the 80s, there was only women's bodybuilding and not all these other categories.
@darin_starrАй бұрын
I mean I'm not sure who you're talking to, but of course I know who Cory is and I've done videos on the history of the sport. Aside from some general structural stuff I don't see much similarity between her and Manon.
@CruisingTheBodybuildingWorldАй бұрын
Manon is qualified for Figure Olympia and will make her debut in physique at Europa Pro. The problem with Figure is that bc Cydney is so dominant being the reigning champion all these girls keep going "bigger is better" and they're trying to chase ratios and it doesn't work. The envelope has been pushed and some of these women look like they should go into physique and they are getting the masculinization due to a lot of gear. The Arnold has 3 divisions: Bikini, Wellness and Fitness bc that's the direction of our industry and these young girls don't want to be too jacked up top hitting a front double or lat spread. Girls like Wellness bc of the development of glutes and quads muscles not arms and back. The more muscle on a woman, the less there are. It's why Women's bodybuilding , Women's physique and Figure are not popular. The owner of the Mr Olympia Jake Wood brought it back bc he puts his own moey towards it and owns WOS and Musclecontest.
@darin_starrАй бұрын
Yeah there are a ton of issues. But Figure and WPD *are* popular. Popular enough? I dunno. The economics of the entire sport are haywire, just look at the Arnold and Olympia payouts. Open men are making money like they're still the only category out there. It's unbelievably skewed. Are open men worth 8x more than every other category, as demonstrated by last year's payouts? No way.
@CruisingTheBodybuildingWorldАй бұрын
@@darin_starr the main attraction for the Arnold and Olympia is the men’s open. Bc of so many divisions the shows run so long people don’t want sit for more than 5 hours. And not to done disrespectful to the athletes bc I love Bikini & Wellness, but when certain divisions are on half the crowd gets up and walks out. Women’s Physique has taken a turn where more gear is pushed on them for girls who don’t have insane genetics. After DLB and Julianna Malacarne’s era, the physiques kept getting bigger and masculinity in the women started occurring. The physique type is not something appealing. If you want that division to do well you have to change up the criteria more than you ever should in the past so that you can drive people to those and have the numbers. The sponsors don’t support them financially and the fans don’t support women’s physique as much as they say they do they don’t.
@darin_starrАй бұрын
Totally get that and don't totally disagree. Bikini aside, every female category is passively being pushed towards more gear (wellness too, in a big way). But also, real quick: who's the bigger draw - Lunsford or CBum? And the open guys deserve 8x more than classic? The scaling of prize money needs to get fixed.
@CruisingTheBodybuildingWorldАй бұрын
@@darin_starr you make a good point and I love this discussion. Classic has only been around for 9 years open has been around for 60. 3 champions in classic but it’s more popular and kids recognize CBUM and think he is Mr Olympia not Derek or Hadi. I have a serious question…Would Classic ever be as popular as it is if Bumstead never became champion? Take him out and it won’t be. I love CBUM and Classic but it’s more on the social media that makes it more popular and the aesthetic physique. The Arnold pays them more than the Olympia plus best poser award. True bodybuilding fans don’t spend thousands of dollars to go to the Olympia to watch classic, they come to watch and see a freak show.
@darin_starrАй бұрын
Yeah honestly this is all stuff that rattles around in my head every day. People do want to see a freakshow which is why I don't know a single person who can name the Natural Olympia Champ - sad truth is, no one cares. So why the double standard between men and women? One word: virilization. Clearly to be Ms. Olympia it takes a ton of gear, so now we're just rewarding/biasing our results towards those who...show fewer outward side effects? Is this what we want? I mean there can be existential conversations about the existence of a lot of categories, men's physique also chief among them. No matter how long that category is around I will always think knee-length shorts are ridiculous, taking nothing away from the awesome physique that compete in that category.

Thanks Autumn! There are always outliers and I've personally worked with some women who, if I didn't know their history, I'd swear were running gear - but those are very rare exceptions. Very broadly speaking, you're not turning pro in Wellness in the IFBB as a natural athlete.

Figure should be what is now called Wellness. Wellness as a name sounds stupid for that division and anything in the IFBB. Figure should be eliminated and wellness should take on that name. Womens bodybuilding should be eliminated. Womens Physique should be eliminated or just make it the new standard for womens Bodybuilding. When people want to see men they watch Classic Physique or Men's Open. The only divisions that should remain and are very interesting is Bikini, Fitness and Wellness(renamed Figure). the rest have to go!!
@darin_starrАй бұрын
Haha, well that's a pretty hot take. I agree that Wellness as a name sounds stupid, I've said that since day 1. As far as eliminating half the women's categories, that's where you lose me. I think the idea that women can only be on stage if they're in heels is a bit much for me.
@CruisingTheBodybuildingWorldАй бұрын
That's why the Arnold has those 3 divisions. Bc they are popular and Bikini sells tickets and PPV and gets an ROI. That's why there are so many shows and qualified bc the sanction fees are low.

Bring the incline down to about 20deg and rotate the bottom shoulder and torso about 20deg. This maintains weight at the bottom of the lift, stops swinging and allows a full stretch of the lat delt. Go light on the weight. Never been as sore in the side delts the next day
@darin_starrАй бұрын
That rotation has the potential to bias the rear delt a lot more - not a terrible thing, but be mindful of what you're actually trying to hit (good general advice). For me a lower bench angle doesn't work - definitely another variable to play with though.

Appreciate the analysis, I agree with the vast majority of what you said. I am also not a fan of the notion that a Champion has to be "knocked out," in order for them to lose their title. The winner should just be whoever is better, and I am glad they saw that Angela was better on the day. I know that the posing and most muscular awards are even more subjective than the placings, but I was a little surprised to see Andrea take most muscular. I would have thought that went to Irene or Selyka, is there something I'm not seeing?

@betiona1507Ай бұрын
@@darin_starr I've never thought a back could be too big, lol, but I think it's also the way its built, she has big trapezoids but she's not very wide, that makes her aesthetically unpleasing. If anything I think her biggest problem is the lack of development in the hams, that affects the symmetry between the top and legs in side poses.
@betiona1507Ай бұрын
I think that Aslhey should place lower with this condition, we should demand a little more from him to reach a top 3.
