I don't really like how Roy character (& well the series as a whole) handles the topics of genocide & politics in general but this was a really nice video to watch

Thanks a lot for recognizing this under-appreciated series.

This is one of my favorite anime and I still watch it from time to time. I remember watching this on Adult Swim back in the day. Of course, back then I had a vague understanding of what anime was since my only exposure was CartoonNetwork/Adult Swim. I did love their powers evolving and seeing the toll it takes on their bodies. And I do agree, wish we could have explored why and what the real damage and side affects would be for them. Side note, I did not know there was a manga, actually never found one for it. But seeing the pages that you managed to find, I think I'm ok not looking for it. If that manga was my introduction to this series, I probably wouldn't have given the anime a chance.

It's literally just one long tournament arc, as the story. I just re-read the series, since I stopped at the Faudo arc, as a kid, and got to experience the ending for the first time. It was so beautiful, terrifying, and glorious. I have never cried for a manga before, and this made me cry so hard. I'm glad we got the sequel coming out now!

The anime's awesome. I have read the full manga (one of the few series I actually own), and ya, it's not great. - Kazuma's alter doesn't work the same - Wanton nudity and death stuff that just doesn't feel right - Story's more generic "MC fights his way thru enemy base" at most points that I can remember - etc... The anime got a lot of art books and pamphlets and stuff which are pretty cool too look thru if you can find em as well.

I love that Kaiba is so extra, that even the original Japanese version of the movie points out that his ego is so strong it straight-up negates Diva's ancient Egyptian magic. Also, let's just keep in mind that Kaiba built a space-elevator and private space station, and invented portable hologram-projectors and VR systems that directly tap into the user's brain. IN THE YEAR 1997! They still use freaking VHS cassette tapes for movies and shit like that, yet here we have Kaiba just building a private space-station in the shape of his company logo, because fuck his haters, I guess. A lot can be said about Kaiba, but he sure doesn't half-ass things.

Kaiba absolutely outclasses every other Shonen Manga Rival when it comes to being obsessed with beating his rival. The guy literally advanced society several decades, possibly even a century or two, overnight, creating portable hologram-projectors and building a space-elevator with an orbital station, where a super-advanced AI worked for two years on studying a puzzle, the space elevator also serving as a gateway to the afterlife. Keep in mind that Yu-Gi-Oh! takes place in 1997, and DSoD in 1999! They still use freaking VHS-tapes for movies, yet Kaiba's out there advancing society's tech-level just because he wants to play a children's card game.

It's too bad we never got to see the mud-wrestling brawl between Mimori and Scheris. Would've been as epic as anything else in the show. I also would've settled for a proper beach episode revolving around the two, but as was said, it's not that sort of series... meaning no mud-wrestling either. Still, a wilderness bath scene with Mimori would've been swell.

16:03 the manga scene where Kyomaru keeps using Zakeru on that one particularly cruel demon and Kyoto keeps turning more and more like a demon and when he’s out of energy, you see him reloading to unload again. 😂😂😂😂😂 it’s such overkill and it still makes me laugh every time I think about it!

Appreciate the cover of such a goated anime. More people need to know that it exists (outside of Japan, which it remains very popular there).

Amazing video!!!! The manga is one of my favs of all time but it feels like whenever it's brought up it's just for the sake of "manga d-d-dark???? yugi KILLS people???" and it's good to see videos like this that appreciate all the manga had to offer beyond that

The degradation of the MC's bodies made it seem like the ending has both of them die fighting each other. The result of their fight isn't shown, and the narration (from what I recall) implies that they are no longer around. It seemed pretty ambiguous to me from what I remember but felt perfect for the series

Scryed is everything you could ask for in a battle shonen anime in a compact 26 episode length. It’s basically Sunrises version of Jojos bizzare adventure with sunrises trademark “clashing of ideal” theme they love so much that it’s in all the shows they make

why are you comparing the manga to the anime, the manga came out first so you should be comparing the anime to the manga. plus many mangas are ultra violent and the shows turn it down

I appreciate this video. This is one of my top 10 all time favorite anime/manga. I was introduced to the manga before the anime and I assume the manga is more graphic/violent to show how tensions and the climate really were like with the comparisons you drew between city life and native life.
