Hi George! Yes, a good observation. It was almost as though they were gearing up for the future compositions, but every album is a masterpiece. The brilliance of Steely Dan, and the amazing catalog of great songs will live on forever. Donald and Walter's solo material is also quite amazing.

Hi Anthony! Cannot Thank You enough for the comments. We really appreciate it! The Nightfly is one of those songs where Donald Fagen's genius runs rampant. The entire album is a masterpiece, but to me, EVERY Steely Dan album is a masterpiece. Donald and Walter have given the world a LOT of great music that will always be relevant. Boy, if some promoter would help us get to Ireland I am sure we would comply.

I actually don't know how else I would sing these classic songs if I wasn't at least giving it my best try to get the Donald Fagen sound in there. His voice was such an integral part of Steely Dan's amazing music. Phil and the guys try to also get those signature solos and sounds as close to the original records as possible out of respect for those recordings, the work of those amazing musicians on the many albums and the great writing of Fagen and Becker. We are very glad that audiences are enjoying what we do. Thank You again Greg!

That was a classic recording. I was a huge fan of Steely Dan's first album, "Can't Buy A Thrill", which featured David on that particular song. The song transformed itself in all of Steely Dan's live shows where the female vocalists took the lead.

Hell and Thank You So Very Much for the compliments! We used to do a few gigs in NYC and would like to go back eventually, but with the cost of parking for our fans, and band members as well as ticket prices and the hassle of traffic, tolls and difficult load-ins we are opting for more calmer and more affordable venues for the many people who support us. On top of that they are trying to bring in congestion pricing, which adds yet another expense into the mix. I guess if the right offer was made we might consider going back, but for now we are more interested in keeping the expenses and hassles lower for our supporters. Again, Thank You So Much for your comments!

Just when you think this song can't possibly get any better, along comes Phil Armeno's gorgeous tenor sax solo at 2:30. David Palmer's original lead vocal made "Dirty Work" a song that even non-Steely Dan fans loved the very first time they heard it. After being dismissed from the band in 1973, Palmer went on to compose the lyrics for Carole King's Grammy-nominated 1974 smash hit, "Jazzman."
@goodstuff82383 ай бұрын
Thank You for the comments Andy! We love doing that tune featuring Cyriese on the lead vocal and Phil on the sax. I knew that David left the band, but had no idea that he worked with Carole King. Great little fact there!
