@ATHLETE.X13 сағат бұрын
Sprinting is a time constrained activity dependent on high rates of force development in less than 100ms. These are exercises used develop the underlying qualities that help produce high RFD in short time frames to help you produce force rapidly & improve acceleration.

@ATHLETE.X That's fast! I'm starting to train for middle distance, but I'm looking for some Sprint training concepts. I believe it will make a difference in terms of pure speed, strength and power.

This is one of the most interesting vids on sprinting technique ever. My Q is how is horizontal force best generated. I can only think of two options: 1) Force straight out of the balls of our feet, when leaning, so there’s a horizontal/ ‘X’ vector. (Ok, I get it now, Athlete X). This is clearly used in the acceleration phase in particular. 2) Or from backward / negative foot speed at the ankle / heel region on ground contact, like in the B skip / whip from the hip. I love this concept but there also seems a huge tradeoff in force production, and I find myself experimenting with running a bit more of an A skip technique, but a bit more Lean, even after the initial acceleration phase, and can really feel the power kick in. Any thoughts from the Master?

I have recently added sprinting to my workouts. What do you think is an achievable 100m time to aim for as a goal? I am 30 and in probably above average physical shape
@Kyle1114 күн бұрын
Sub 12 could be a good goal. It might be better to find your current 100m time and go from there. If you’re already in low 12s might be too easy, or if you’re closer to 14 seconds it might be too much. Really depends where you’re starting from and how much you think you can improve

You’re likely too nervous & the anxiety is making you feel flat. Focus on being grateful for the opportunity to compete and do not put pressure on yourself to run a certain time.

I’m midseason indoor track right now coach. Worked crazy hard during the offseason, ran on the dark cold track after football practice, and weightlifting in the early morning before school. My coach has created national champions, and he wants me to trust him and not think about training, leaving all the thinking and planning to him. My first meet I did well (I attribute this to the months of training and lifting I did). Second and third meet I did worse. I’m feeling like I should take the reins and form my own schedule. I brought myself from ACL, MCL, and meniscus surgery, to PRing only 7 months later. Just last year. I’m an analytical athlete and 17. I’m just curious if you think I should trust my coach or myself. I apologize for the long paragraph, I know it has nothing to do with the video, I’m just curious what you think.

This guy reminds me of myself and my gym buddies. We’re all middle aged (I’m 46), and all trying to stay fit. We’re better than the average dude, but not like any of us used to be. Hold on to as much fitness as you can. I bet we’re all stronger and fitter than the average 25 year old out there, but none of us (including this guy) are the same as we once were.

@ good for you man. I’m jealous. I still do bench reps at the gym with 245, do barbell curls with 80lbs, and can leg press the full bar of 45s, but I recently messed up my left middle finger in a horse accident on our ranch, so my grip is bad on my left hand because I can’t bend my middle finger all the way. No more power lifting for me. No pull ups. I can do dumbbell presses, but I can’t hold the dumbbell. It sucks. This is middle age for me. I keep getting injured and keep telling myself “I’ll be better soon”, but something keeps happening. I stopped running marathons because of the joint pains. I’m holding on to all I can, but unlike you, I’m not breaking any records. You’re doing awesome!
