Great recap of an epic race. This year with the wind was hard for sure. It’s my favorite, crossed the Survivor line 5x and can’t wait for #5.

Great video! Thanks so much, S.O.S. is definitely on my bucket list right now, even though I live in Europe. Just wanted to say, thanks for all the videos throughout your career. The Tim&Rinny show were the first KZbin videos I started watching about triathlon, about 6 years ago. When I learned about Ironman, I thought I would never be able to do it, but was immediately intrigued. This year I completed my first full-distance! Thank you for inspiring me and many others!

Interesting race format.. That is almost like a Swimrun race with a bike segment thrown in. Have you thought about doing any Masters swim meets?

I’ve done this race twice now. It’s absolutely, hands down, my favorite event in the sport. Nutty that you did the whole bike leg in one gear. I can’t imagine going into all those cold swims and 19 miles of running after that. You’re legendary, TO!

If I do SOS again, I'll most likely put on a SwimRun wetsuit after the bike. The year I did it, the lake water was mid 60's and I got hypothermia near end of first swim - never recovered but finished!

There's a difference between being fit and healthy. Triathletes and endurance athletes can be super fit but not necessarily healthy. As i get older i am trying for moderation.

Are you allowed a pool buoy ? I've done swim run events and we usually have a pull buoy with holes that we strap to the upper thigh (turn it outside for running and inside for swimming) (or could be round the waist for the run). So much easier to swim with shoes + pull buoy.

Good luck, Tim - I had a disastrous short course triathlon in Bournemouth last September, followed by a near fatal heart attack in March this year. Just taking it easy, slow walking etc. Can't help thinking about Ironman training - how crazy is that!

I’m wondering what made you guys think that 30 minutes was the optimal amount of time to test? In my opinion, your test was flawed and highly doubtful that you achieve the peak.
@JustinSnyder-tb1dg6 ай бұрын
It isn't, it is optimal for Delta G. DeltaG is a sponsor and we know it peaks faster than Ketone IQ. Ketone IQ is a slower lower peak but lasts longer.

Tried my first bottle of Keto IQ after a cycling workout. My ride was pretty hard- 35 miles @average speed 17 mph/200 watt average/ climbing 2500 vertical feet. About 30-40 minutes after drinking it, I had an awesome exercise high and felt energized. Tastes bad but not a dealbreaker.

The biggest thing is take ownership of your health by getting checkups and be being your own advocate. I had similar situation five years ago . Just because you’re fit doesn’t mean it can happen to you!

We are all extremly pleased to hear that u are now an ex Tri...sometime ago we did recommend that after an heart attack u should stop racing and start training only to your own fitness...it seems u have now come to your senses, specially with a new baby it's important that u keep fighting the future to see all your children grow...we all know how it is in general with heart attacks...the 1st u survive the second takes u five feet under...

Tim your apob and LDL-C are incredibly high post heart attack. You should seek out information from Thomas Dayspring or Peter Attia and consider getting something known as an Lp(a) test. Especially given your level of fitness and age, you may be a carrier for this LDL variant. Bob Harper of the Biggest Loser has this variant and had an MI at a similar age.

Thank you for sharing. We have very similar Cholesterol levels. Hopefully, you can share a follow up video on your cholesterol in about 3-6 months. I want no part of taking cholesterol reducing drugs, so I’ve been on a bad cholesterol killing war path with daily avocado, aerobic and anaerobic work, loads of Psyllium Husk capsules and even more water.
