Its actually diabolical how the WiiU had FREE Online play and its still better than the Switches PAID online play (edit: I also do think new Nintendo directs are lame now. Anyone else remember when Nintendo hired the robot chicken people to make sketches that aired during the direct in 2014? Or the puppets??)

5:30 - Someone once said that each of the planets represent common human fears. I have come up with a replica of that list, adding my own speculation: Timber Hearth: Leaving home; Giant's Deep: Water, agoraphobia, weather; Brittle Hollow: Falling; things falling on you; Ember Twin: Claustrophobia; Sun Station: Fire, Running out of time; Ash Twin & Quantum Moon: Legacy, Leaving something behind; Dark Bramble: ... ... "The unknown"...? I mean... everything about this game is "fear of the unknown." This was when I realized that DB may have been absolute, pitch-black, originally (with the angler & node lights, still). Fear of The Dark. I want to mod it, so that the fog is black, instead of white.

When I first began playing, I decided to investigate Timber Hearth first. I found the Bramble piece, fired a probe, and figured I’d go explore. The Dark Bramble was the first place I went to and I didn’t meet an angelfish the entire time. I actually thought I never had to go bad. I did what I needed to and left. Later on I realised there was more than one reason to go. So I did a bit of exploring and got eaten for the first time when I entered the Nest. Shat my pants.

I Played the 3rd game in the wiiu at 6, it was hard for my smol brain, 4 years later I loved it, I have completed it like 6 times, now the 4th is completed twice and I LOVE it

I think false retro works more for young people too young to have played any of it. Nostalgia for something they never had nostalgia for. I will probably be annoyed by the Gameboy color scheme and 1998 rpg maker world art. I do love games developed independently for old consoles though and wished more would happen. Taking later Kirby visuals and sounds from alttp and applying a weird color filter and then putting into a 2006 tech overhead platformer with really good hit boxes and bouncy feel will be like mixing poptarts into oatmeal. Probably good, but I don't see it being a habit.

I LOVE the sound when the new universe is born at the end of the game, It hit me even harder when I realized that the new universe was being birthed by the tones of the same song that the Outer Wilds Ventures crew played. Brilliant touch by the designers, one of so many.

I like the idea of exploring retro visual styles beyond the NES and SNES look, but I've never liked the look of games trying to copy the original green gameboy. I only even saw that in a dentist's office, since I only had a gameboy pocket and color as a kid

what i miss on old nintendo is the sense of community you would have just by using the console back in the day, even on the 3ds where you would play with your friends at school or at their home. or they wii with the mii channel. I use to fell embrace by it, and now i can barely fell a scrach of it on reddit foruns.

Imagining a world where the 2013 Perfect Stride demo/prototype was expanded into a full game instead of being pared back and retooled years later as Neon White. For while the vibes of a lot of what Arcane Kids' projects have grown more than stale, I still think about their two swings with 2012's Zineth and Perfect Stride. A 3D platformer that takes as much from post-Quakeworld surf/race maps and polishes the quirks _just enough_ to not be as finicky as their original incarnations. This was also around the same time that Tribes Ascend was a sort of sleeper hit, partially due to how comically fast players could go before the addition of a speed cap. Will also mention Cloudbuilt, but I basically position that as "3D Dustforce", which is a subgenre of platformer that (IMO) peaked with 'needle games' AKA I Wanna Be The Guy fangames with less traps and more a focus on sheer precision.

@@eric_moore-6126 Yeah, check out the page. I think late pledges are still available. You can opt into a digital copy or a physical. Looks like there will be a limited print of physical copies for those that opt into that tier if that's your sort of thing.
