I’ve always loved having a more minimalistic, intentional wardrobe. I mostly wear dresses at this point because it’s such an easy one piece outfit. Paired with sweaters and tights in the winter, it so easy and effortless, not to mention warm! I love your waxed jacket, I just picked up something similar (perhaps the same!) at a rummage sale a week ago for $3, J. Crew! 💚
@OldWorldFarmHouse2 күн бұрын
I so agree! I adore dresses and cardigan sweaters in winter, oddly I don't have any in my capsule this fall, which is very unusual for me. Lucky find on the jacket! Yes, mine is J.Crew, it was $9 on DePop., which was the best price I've ever seen this model at ... but you've got me beat, Wow! It is an exact replica of the field jacket Princess Catherine wears as far as I can tell!

I have a philosophical question. What is the difference between a 333 situation and a 10 item plus extras? I am thinking that the difference might be in the way you prioritize but I’m not sure. Second question, how do you deal with sweat in the summer with only 10 pieces? Could just be a hot flash thing but it does get hot here.
@OldWorldFarmHouse2 күн бұрын
I think the ten item has the extras flexibility and the 333…it’s everything, even shoes, if i understand correctly. I wash clothes a lot in summer but I have been researching sweat stain solutions actually bc my white garments get ruined! Bleach is not the answer. I got some old newspaper clippings from my mom last time i went home but i haven’t tried the remedies yet..and now its fall of course. But that would be a great video to make. I will try to do it for next summer!

@OldWorldFarmHouse I would recommend the Pink Zote soap bar 🧼 you wash your garment by hand lathering it with this soap, let it rest with it for a couple of minutes then rinse with cold water and magic, white or bright as new, we have used it for decades in Mexico. It is wonderful.

Hello, you have been a busy lady with the new videos you are putting out. They are a joy to watch. Being in my 70's I so wish I knew way back what I know now of clothing. Not one to be such a shopper, fashionable or keeping up with the new look for the year/season, I had more clothes and shoes than needed by far. Now that I do not have places to go, things to do away from home, I have a very modest closet of 3 main skirts, one jumper and 4 blouses that I wear. Jumper is printed fabric, one skirt is also, the other skirt and blouses are solid colors. As I wear an apron daily, I wear my clothing for a week and then wash. I do have two very old skirts that are patched that I wear when out in the yard working. I have 2 pairs of shoes, one pair sandals the other clog style. Living in the deep south, there is no real need for winter clothing, but one pair of gloves and one sweater. My jumper is for the monthly errand run I must do and I have a broach I wear to look more appealing. I quit long ago wearing any jewelry or makeup. My personal journey on that. I have never been happier in how and what I know now, as I said, wish I was so in tune to it long ago. Keep up the good works. In Joy

Yes! In the 80s, I, too, had the yellowed white with gold trim Provencal bedroom set with a four-poster canopy twin with a high boy dresser and one bedside table. I hated it. Lol. Also, on the paint, I started using Latex in eggshell and then topping it with the waxes. It gives the same look as the chalkpaint and wax. Although I haven't used a dark wax, only the clear. That might be something to test first before one would try. Lastly, you look really pretty with the way you styled your hair and makeup in these last few videos. I really liked this video.😊

Besides coffee, thrifting is my other joy in life. i love browsing and upcycling and it's the thrill of the find when something was ridiculously expensive from a shop i would never pay retail for. My kids are so rough on furniture too. I won't give myself anymore aneurisms and buy brand new for couches, chairs or tables. I think I'm a happier mum when I'm not emotionally and financially invested in the furniture, and we can just live in our own house. The old furniture is so much more durable, and forgiving compared to newer modern materials. it's also easier to refinish if it gets banged up.

I LOVE seeing your collection of curated items and what you are drawn towards! I definitely prefer more items in my rotation; I find that 10 tops & 10 bottoms works well for me, so 20 items in all (not counting layering). The reason for this that I mostly wear skirts, and I need them in various lengths. (3 pencil skirts, 2-3 midi, 3 maxi) plus 1 pair of jeans I have currently, that makes 10 bottoms. Not including any dresses. And tops I need at least 10, because I have a baby and my aprons don’t cover spit up on the shoulder and I don’t walk around with a burp cloth. So that seems like a lot for a “10 item wardrobe” but it REALLY helps my personal style, which is split 50/50 for Preppy/Vintage and Bohemian/western. So I’d have 5 tops in more preppy “Ralph Lauren” style, and 5 Bohemian blouses to style over skirts or my pair of jeans. That’s not including layers! Like vests, jackets, cardigans, sweaters. But given my lifestyle and climate, it works well for me and it’s been great for discovering my personal style! I find if I swing too much in one direction (doing super preppy and neglecting the free-spirited bohemian) than I feel stifled and not like myself. So I need enough pieces to depict that range. 💛 I aim for about 30 pieces for a well-rounded wardrobe, including dresses but not including layering.

Please bring the pink chair back. I know it’s not my living room. Lol. I just enjoy imagining you sitting there with a friend, some snacks, and cups of tea while you share the ottoman. You might actually never sit there in real life😉 I am fascinated by the shrine. What’s the purpose? Is it just for meditation and prayer or is it more specific? Thank you for educating me. 🧡🍁
@OldWorldFarmHouse7 күн бұрын
You're right, that chair is very cozy! It needs reupholstery in the worst way so it drives me a little crazy 🤪 but I hope to take care of it soon. The Shrine is in honor ofOur Lady of Guadalupe. She is the Patron Saint of the Americas in the RC church. The architecture is Spanish colonial esp in the visitor center. Really gorgeous. It’s in LaCrosse, WI. Beautiful European baroque style Catholic Church, a smaller chapel with stunning stained glass windows , one for every recorded Marian apparition. gorgeous walking paths, places to pray … it’s a place to make a pilgrimage I would say. Very beautiful and peaceful.

When I feel like that it’s usually that I’m wearing what I think I should instead of what I actually love. Maybe you are a cashmere cardigan girl instead of a crisp button down. Maybe you want more artistic than classic. What do you love touching? My clothes have to be soft and I have to be able to move. I prefer tone on tone instead of multi color prints. Those are things that feel genuine to me.

Thank you so much for your comment! I am very inspired to create content around this topic! You can get some amazing things for very little money and you don't have to spend a fortune to create interiors you love. I believe that! It's especially true of the Neoclassical look because there is a lot of used/vintage things out there with the right shapes. It's really getting the right shapes that is more than half of "getting the look" I think.
