Thank you! I've been into gunpla for about 2 years now. And I am only just now brave enough to attempt to scribe for panel lining. I tried to panel line without scribing, and of course, it came out uneven and not full. So now I scribe. But I've fount that my scribed lines are rarely even. Sometimes they are too thick, other times they are too thin. Unfortunately, I only have one scribing tool (it was all that was available). Its a very pencil like tool. I've found that a lot of light brushes until a groove starts building is best for keeping accurate lines and not making mistakes. But still, I have not found out to get the depth and thickness consistent until this video. So thank you.

Hi, Nico! I have a complicated question for you haha😅 I'm a Transformers fan and currently work on a cosplay of Drift from Age of Extinction, tremendous project honestly. I struggle to replicate carbon fiber braids on his armor. I'm also using Vallejo Premium paints - gunmetal underneath, then masking fluid, then dark blue, then braids stensils, then "something" and then a gloss varnish. In place for something there should be color that switches from dark blue or black to bright blue at different angles. I tried to mix chameleon acrilics with Vallejo premium varnish and unfortunately I got problems removing the stensils, probably because varnish has too strong adhesion or I shouldn't combine it with ordinary acrilics. Watching your video I understood that I can use candy blue and got inspired! Will this sceme work:gunmetal/masking/dark blue (possibly with gloss varnish?)/stensils/steel/candy blue/removing stensils and chipping medium/gloss varnish? I'm afraid steel may gets visible somewhere after removing stensils. Or should I try instead gloss black/gunmetal/masking/candy blue/stensils/dark blue/removing stensils and chipping/gloss varnish. Will gunmetal change the tone of the candy blue? Everything will be layered on worbla primed with scuffed gesso. Getting candy colors may be a whole adventure here in my country, they are very rare, so I have to ask for your opinion first🙂

For water-based acrylics, water works most of the time. Only use thinner or alcohol if you really have to (it could potentially ruin/affect the base color)

@@NicoSuratos I'm worrying that it would ruin the plastic due to its "industrial" use of the spray can atleast from what I'm seeing on internet. What I plan is to apply primer, color, then the clear matte finish. I guess it takes practice to perfect using these type of cans. I cant wait to start spray painting actually since its my first time.

I think I saw you guys at the toycon, I think one of your entry was the unicorn. Btw how is the quality of bosny primer? Durability and texture wise. I don't have my airbrush with me right now and I don't think hand painting a waterbased primer is ideal for a gunpla because the constant movement of parts may cause some chipping or is it just fine and I'm just over reacting? Lol
@NicoSuratos
@NicoSuratos 18 күн бұрын
The unicorn is my dad’s work! Bosny works well as a primer, esp if you know how to use spray cans. Waterbased primer also works fine, it’s what I used for most of my gunpla builds. If you play with your gunpla or change the pose often, then just use bosny

nag try ako nico ng XPS Foam pero asking lang if pag ba nag apply ako ng plaster of paris d ba matutunaw yung XPS foam pag may Prethinned na Paint like Arkom Brand?
@NicoSuratos
@NicoSuratos 19 күн бұрын
Plaster of paris alone will not melt xps foam. As long as you avoid strong non polar solvents you should be fine - avoid most things that would use paint thinner, mineral spirits or lacquer thinner as a clean up. So you can’t use lacquer paints, thin cement, etc as it will melt the xps foam. But if your paint is acrylic, it should be fine.

I want to just paint thrusters, I'm going to use rattle cans, can I just you a gloss clear coat as a primer?
@NicoSuratos
@NicoSuratos 22 күн бұрын
Not really. Primer is something that helps the paint "cling" on to the plastic. It creates a buffer (or a rough surface) which is something you can't replicate with a gloss clear coat, simply because anything glossy is smooth. Smooth = no buffer for the paint to cling on. If you don't have primer, you can use a MATTE clear coat. Or you can try without any primer if its rattle cans (try on spoon first or spare runner)
@Flip5ide
@Flip5ide 22 күн бұрын
@@NicoSuratos ahh OK thank you! I have Matte Clear coat, maybe I'll get some primer anyways 😁 Is the primer acrylic as well?
@NicoSuratos

There are different types of primer. If your rattle cans says they are acrylic, then if you get the same brand of primer, then it would also be acrylic.
