Muslim women have a lot yet to fight their rights. Their personal law is very drastic for them. In another 25 years, the truth will prevail over the authority and not that the authority will prevail over the truth.

Congratulations on the completion of nine years of the Friday Group. This lecture was a highly educational experience for the members of Friday Group to listen to the legal and constitutional philosophy of an icon of the highest judiciary of our country, Chief Justice Y.V. Chandrachud ji by none other than her Ladyship, Justice B.V. Nagarathna ji, a legal luminary herself. We are extremely fortunate to be able to be part of such lectures, opportunities we are so privileged to get access to. Such knowledge and unique insights into the thoughts of the stalwarts of the Supreme Court is something we cannot find in any textbook or through any curriculum and we are indeed fortunate to have received this opportunity to enlighten ourselves. Through this lecture we have acquired an understanding about the thoughts and the ideals which shaped the work of Justice Chandrachud and perhaps the secret behind his keen sense of justice, clarity of thought, lucidity of expression, patient hearing and unfailing courtesy towards all during his tenure as the longest serving Chief Justice in the history of the Supreme Court of India. During her lecture, Justice Nagarathna attributed the former CJI’s opinion in the Indira Gandhi v. Raj Narain and Minnerva mills cases as having been vital in the nurturing of the basic structure doctrine. She also added that the balance in vision of CJI Chandrachud rendered flesh and bones to the basic structure doctrine. Paying further tribute she added that he possessed the traits of a scholarly statesman. Seshu Sir( Advocate G Seshagiri Rao ji), it is a result of your dedication and perseverance that the Friday Group has achieved this milestone. We eagerly look forward to many more such lectures. Regards, Rahul Sharma Advocate Supreme Court of India

Judges select the version which is closest to the truth. Learning from the Lecture; there are many, however, the life time one is - The process of presenting competing versions of events, and having a judge select the one closest to the truth, is a cornerstone of our judicial system. This approach, diligently upheld by the judiciary, ensures that justice prevails through a balanced and impartial evaluation of facts. Today, I wish to extend my deepest respect and admiration for Hon'ble Justice PS Narasimha of the Supreme Court of India. His commitment to this principle not only fortifies the integrity of our legal system but also reinforces our faith in the judiciary. Justice Narasimha’s dedication to truth and justice serves as an inspiration to all of us in the legal profession. he shared his experience as member of our Friday Group and briefly said He also reflects on the lessons he has learned from colleagues and mentors, not just professionally but also in terms of life lessons and basic courtesies. I am grateful to meet this great and humble personality in person. All thanks to our Friday Group. Attending the Friday Group lectures is always a privilege. Our esteemed Sheshu Sir has significantly facilitated the growth and learning of first-generation advocates. These lectures are not only informative but also highly motivational. In a recent lecture, our Respected Justice P.S. Narsimha Sir shared his profound insights, spanning from the beginning stages to the heights of achieving success. He generously imparted valuable mantras for us to remember: 1. *Dharmam* - Virtuous conduct. 2. *Shrutham* - Scientific temperament. 3. *Tapo* - Concentration. 4. *Deeksha* - Accomplishment. 5. *Saya* - Great effort. Justice Narsimha Sir also emphasized the importance of self-belief in achieving one's dreams and the significance of enjoying one's profession. He highlighted that success is the result of repeated efforts, not a single day's work. These lectures, under the guidance of Respected Sheshu Sir and esteemed speakers like Justice Narsimha Sir, continue to be an invaluable resource for our professional and personal development. Adv. Madhu Yadav Supreme court of India

Fresh out of the dreary times of the Covid-19, to straight resume with a session as momentous as felicitation of Justice P.S. Narasimha, one of our very senior, seasoned, loved, and respected members of the Bar on being elevated to the Hon'ble Apex Court Bench, and Justice Narasimha beginning by confessing that he was waiting to be invited, is everythng that the endeavour called the Friday Group could have ever asked for. It is not only a testament to the gravity and significance with which we are perceived with by all at the the Bar and the Bench, but also a validation to the fact that each day counts, each Friday matters, and each talk, is going forward, with steadiness and sincerity. Justice Narasimha put it so rightly that what to not learn is as important as to know what to learn. The SC Bar being termed as a mini-India for accommodating and welcoming so much regional and intellectual diversity, is so apt. It is so inspiring when he says that this is a place where it is possible that even despite we having come from nowhere, we can always aspire to reach anywhere. In today's times how much significance it holds when he underlines the importance of upholding our independence even while we have our respective ideologies or allegiances, political or otherwise; because nothing is more material than the truth. These are some enriching 30 minutes where life lessons learnt by the great Justice Narasimha himself were encapsulated for our benefit too. Thank you Seshagiri Rao Sir, for spearheading the Friday Group, as its administrator, and for being a constant mentor, and continuing to share these videos and memories. They are timeless. Love & Regards, Gitanjali N. Sharma Advocate, Supreme Court of India.

I was thrilled to attend this session in person and enlighten to hear about the freedom fighters who even left their legal practice to fight for the independence of India . One of them was C. Rajagopalachari, popularly known as Rajaji. From giving up his criminal practice to becoming the last Governor General of India, Rajaji played a vital role for the independence of India and was at the forefront of every movement such as Rowlett Act, the Non-Cooperation movement, and the Civil Disobedience. Even Mahatma Gandhi used to call him "keeper of my conscience". Further, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, the Guru of Mahatma Gandhi, was a great social reformer, statesman, and economist of his times. He was also among the founders of the Indian National Congress. K. Ayyappan Pillai was also an eminent lawyer, and later became a socio-political activist in Travancore and joined INC in 1933. During the Quit India Movement, he got arrested but released later. Further, Durgabai Deshmukh, Mrs., who was also a lawyer, and social worker. She joined politics at a very young age and participated in Gandhi-led Salt Satyagraha activities during the Civil Disobedience Movement. She was instrumental in organising women satyagrahis in the movement. This led to British Raj authorities imprisoning her three times between 1930 and 1933. Later, she became a member of the Constituent Assembly of India and of the Planning Commission of India. She was also awarded with Padma Vibhushan. We as lawyers are very proud of those lawyers who fought for the independence of India and therefore, theFriday Group, is organising a lecture series on them. The Friday Group also published a book i.e. Friday Group, Anthology of Articles on Lawyer's role in India's Freedom Movement on the occasion of 75 years of Independence because, if we, lawyers, will not remember them and then who will? Regards, Akanksha Singh A proud lawyer.

A descriptive and enlightening lecture on the doctrine of Constitutional Morality. The speaker Advocate SS Ray sir has covered possibly all the aspects of this topic in a comprehensive way. The views of philosophers like Nietzsche on morality standards, the evolution of the concept of Wednesbury unreasonableness in court and the classical English historian Grote who propounded the doctrine of constitutional morality in his work on Grecian civilization were explained eloquently. The sequence in which the speaker Ray sir has explained the development of constitutional morality in India with the case laws is very useful for lawyers and students. Thank you Seshu sir( G Sheshagiri Rao, Administrator of Friday Group) for inviting a gem of the bar who is also your colleague and learned friend for more than three decades at Supreme Court. This was the 213th Friday Group lecture and FG will complete 9 years in July 2024. Congratulations for achieving this milestone. I wish you many more centuries of FG lectures in the future. Looking forward to attending such informative lectures. Regards, Rahul Sharma Advocate Supreme Court of India
