Great video and really helpful. I'm tempted to give this a go on my XF in the near future.

Hello Hans, I’m so glad to find this video, love the step by step instructions, thanks so much for sharing. I have a 2019 F-Pace, I have a question, is this the same procedure for my vehicle? I know the F-Pace you have on this video is a 2017. Also , are the parts the same from 2017 to 2019 ? , I’m talking about brake disc and brake pads. I will appreciate your response. Thanks. Mario.

Cringe moment in minutes … using an impact wrench on painted black alloys … plus no copper slip on hub face and never unscrews brake fluid cap before resetting calliper. And that folks is why I always service my own cars.
@kyewalker4137Ай бұрын
Five words ‘remove brake fluid reservoir cap’ before resetting calliper. You are pushing the fluid back into the reservoir and it should have open air not a sealed cap. Refit cap when reset.

One word ‘copperslip’ on hub face. Stops corrosion and makes removal easier

I absolutely love how you could have cracked that hub nut with a 3/8" drive socket. Having the tools at your disposal why did you not show how the hub nut was really cracked, including tapping out the indent on the hub nut out. Also exactly what it took to remove the inner race. You left out some of the important bits people will need to know if they use this video as a how to guide.

It's a long time since I left the UK to live in Australia and I shudder at the thought of when I used to work on cars that have suffered the ravages of salt and sand gritted roads such as the car in this video.. The underside of the car being worked on is scary.

Question any system you need to disengage to push the position back in? Special tool or anything dumb that might lock it from reversing back into primed position?

Thank you! Do the sliding bolts need some grease? It seems like you did not fully pull them out. I wonder if this is recommended. I had a little bit hard time to push them back and to tighten them up. Pliers did help.

Hi there, Great videos. What is the name of your scanning tool? My one doesn't allow retraction of piston. Thanks
@defendermodsandtravels3 ай бұрын
Several points: 1. Not so easy with gas shocks which by default go to maximum extension. It'll be easier if you use some form of restrainer which you may have to make up from stiff wire or similar (new gas shocks come with these) . 2. Put a bit of copperslip grease on the studs and the nuts will come off easily next time so you won't have to replace the ring. 3. You will note at 4:30 that the spring is coming off the bottom seat with the axle dropped. You can use a small D shackle at the front to retain it. This will come in handy if you do any heavy offroading (otherwise the spring can come off).

Is it ok to re use the nyloc nuts? Or are new nylocs included?
@RimmerBrosTV2 ай бұрын
We'd always recommend using new nyloc nuts. They come separately under a part number. If you have a TR6, the part numbers will be listed in the video for you :)

When feeding brake pipes through the chassis It would be a good idea to cover the open unions with little polythene bags to prevent dirt ingress. These comments from a Mr.1V owner of 40 plus years. Oh for a hoist!

YOU ARE A CLUELESS AMATUER. This is a horrible example of a seat cover installation. You need to stop pedaling your ignorance and crapmanship on KZbin and go spend some time apprenticing at a REAL trim shop. In 54 years doing this work, 60% of my work has always been having to throw out stuff that people like you have botched up. How does it feel to be wasting peoples money and time for a living? This is pathetic attempt at best and is certainly NOT a tutorial!!

Had a stag when i was 17. Head studs stuck so bad. I had penetrating oil soaking fir 2 days. I had a gantree in workshop. Had the weight if the car on the head for 2 daya. Wouldnt budge!! Went to a Sparshats near me. Old boy mechanic showed me a thin metal.wedge. he said drive that in enough to get a hacksaw blade in and keep cut the studs. Then gwt the head repaired. Even when i dod get the heads off. I had the head in a vice and stipp spent alot of time driving the head studs back and forth before i finally got them out
@7.92Gav2 ай бұрын
All head studs were seized on mine. Luckily the engine was out and on the engine stand so I could rotate the studs to vertical. Tightened 2 nuts together on each one until the flats aligned and put penetrating oil in the cast recess surrounding the stud. Then out came the SDS hammer drill and cut the point off a chisel with 4 sides to fit into the 1/2" drive of an old socket that fitted the stud nuts. I then held the SDS on the studs until they were smoking and you knew when they freed because the penetrating oil would suddenly vanish down the side of the studs. A couple of the studs took around 7 minutes of vibration to free IIRC, but it worked without causing any damage and was quick.
