Great show again in dept. I was quite pleased with how the 1st round unfolded. I never dreampt Demidov could fall on our lap. I thought for sure Chicago was taken him. I m not sure what they were thinking ,but happy as hell they had a lapse. Lol i totally love Gorton s poker face . Habs played that out well. I was happy with both players in the first round . Now 3rd round on i think is a crap shot in drafts any way. Nice stories between Hage ,and Koivu . But overall pleased we may finally have a top NHL star since Naslund. Keep up the great work .

We have not had a game changer since PK but coach/players ruined him and imo he got too big lifting weights that also ruined his greatness. Something of note is that our last cup winning team 93 was more or less based on a great well rounded TEAM not any one superstar. The problem is that in a salary cap world that team would not have existed. Something else of note our best plus minus players were Lyle Odelein and Mike Keane proving it is not always about the superstar you need tough good smart two way players.Carbonneau also proved you didn't need SIZE either smarts and willing to engage is all you need. In todays game a sueprstar is needed because you won't build a great 3 line team the cap won't allow it and in Demidov we finally got one.

While Demidov is not a 'generational' player like Connor Bedard, or an obvious first-overall choice like Macklin Celebrini, that doesn't take away the fact that he will likely be a big-impact player in the NHL - someone who could easily slot in as a top-six forward. That kind of talent is exactly what the Canadiens needed to get after multiple years of being a lottery team selecting in the top five at the draft.

@@ManAcadieodds are that Bedard and Celebrini will be better than Demidov (ergo their consensus #1 draft position), but Demidov’s ceiling is higher than their floors. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Demidov ends up reaching his ceiling and Celebrini and Bedard only reach their floors.

Iginla was not my choice but with him being one of the youngest in this year draft and him playing Center next year I think his celling is higher than People think. Very safe pick that could bring you a solid NHL player for a long time.

Pullups don't stress your lower spine! If anything, they ease pressure off a herniated disc. Now skating? That's not good for this injury. Skating and playing full contact hockey? That's at the extreme end of the worst for this injury. Unless he lets team doctors access all his medical reports, I'd stay away from Lindstrom with a high pick. Too much risk. If he didn't miss pretty-much half his D season to this and the other injury, I'd say he's a top-5 pick without question. And if he did play and kept improving the last half, he'd be challenging for #2. IMO.

Geez. 🙄 Don't touch Savard. No way. 👿Nope! Prospect talk- Still a difficult one for me. There's soooo many and I honestly wouldn't even be able to comment on how many you guys cover. Oof...Question of the week...I'm torn but IF we could get a really good forward, I'd go with that option first. IF we could get a better denfenseman than any available good forward, then I'd have to reluctantly say that would be my choice. Thanks guys! Great show. 💙🤍❤

Great episode guys . I was so impressed with seeing some legitimacy on the back injury of Lidstrom . It was getting so tiresome listening to alot of small podcast just spewing garbage on Lidstoms back injury info on a basic medical report . Those paticular small podcast like to fly off any gossip or articles having no credible or factual proof for their comments . But influence alot of their followers with total bs . I was so happy to see you actually interview a back specualist to support what the actual injury entails . I know the injury well and when i played full contact sports in my day i had that injury and it didnt stop me from finding a program to strengthen the back and i was fine back during playing days . So i knew the venum they were spewing was false information. But they attempt to sway their followers to support the player they want or try to influence habs pic. Which i m sure habs management is smarter than that. So i half to commend the credibility of your show . Well done getting a proffessional back Dr. To address it . And to exactly deflate the fulse commentary being promoted by those paticular podcast channels. It just verifies their lack of credibility of their podcast. However i marvel that they get the followings they obtain running off pure false info and their click bait. I would hope that fans of habs following them would want legit info not gossip and false info. So great job i was so impressed with you doing that with the dr. It was nice to hear him give the facts on that injury and say he would nt avoid drafting Lidstrom because of that , where its not to the level of an injury to warrent not drafting him. Just as i knew from having that injury myself. But to here him say the truth thst he ld draft Lidstrom and wouldnt have that report hinder the habs from drafting Him. For me Lidstrom the perfect fit and Demidov would be second choice. But i would nt go for another dmen with that pic. Too much of a log jam already at d in habs land. I ld trade it away before drafting a d men this time. Its Lidstrom or Demidov or its a bust . But great job getting an expert to address the actual facts about the injury. I love a show that has integrity. Keep up the good work.

Necas is really the only perfect fit i see this year. I ld be willing to give up Matheson and the 26 th pic and A small type prospect like a Ferrel. Or Beck as long as the contract is dealt with on Necas s contract is extended in a agreement that would be part of the agreement . Also i think you could try a 3 team deal might also solve any issues . Other than that the only other players you mentioned would be the Devils with either Mercer or Holt . Other than that i ld just use the 26 th pick if you cant make one of those three deals. We could than also trade the 26 th pivk and a couple of extra 2nd rounders to move that pick up so that we ld possibly be able to get someone like a Seneke type for future with a Listrom that would be an awesome injection of size and talent . Zegras is talented but doesnt fit habs . We need size and strong character players. However i do think they ll make a splash trade with that 26 th pick. Seems to be their trend. However this time we need to do alot better top 6 player that isnt a project player. This draft and off season has huge implications on our rebuild time frame .

Most players need to find a "partner" to help them develop a consistent style of game that gets results within your skillset. With that in mind, I've always hoped our draft picks come to the organization ASAP and train, develop, play with the guys that are signed, their "teammates". Never mind going for the "College Experience" for a degree you may never use. If you want a professional sports career, why not go pro and start earning and take classes that lead to a post career direction as you go along. The Habs have invested in player development to bring as many prospects to the NHL under the system, passing up that for the great memories of college seems, not a well thought out plan. We've got years ahead to be a contender, we need guys who 'want it'.

if i'm picking at 9 i want catton, if he's there. as for trades, don't go after zegras or necas. both are soft and will cost more than they're worth. the ducks are insisting on guhle or reinbacher, and that's an instant no. zegras is a hot dog and doesn't understand the concept of defense. necas' upside is a 2nd line forward. i'm not sending the moon for him. if we're dealing the 26 for a young player, try to get kent johnson from columbus, or jake neighbours from the blues. send the 2nd to NYR and give kakko a chance. worst case scenario there is he's a defensively responsible 3rd line forward.

I really would go all in on Iginla, I wouldn’t even take the chance of dropping down and just pick him at 5th… I wouln’t take the risk with Lindstrom’s herniated disk nor with the Russian risk factor either… a and if the best player availleble is a Defenceman, why take a D to trade one later for an Iginla-type player if you have the chance of drafting him and saving you all the trouble! IMO it’s a easy choice... If I was the GM, I would work on trying to get a second draft pick around 10-15 and/or work on getting a top 6 winger! Love your show...Cheers

Extending the contract with the coaching staff is a disaster of many magnitudes; In my opinion; underestimated. Im this case, we are talking not only about those years during which these coaches will work, but also about several years later, during which; the players they helped or did not help develop will be the cornerstones of the main team. Signing of a goalkeeper from Switzerland for A.H.L. It doesn't seem like a clear solution to Me. First. Of all, the size of the rinks. In the Swiss League they play not on the Finnish rinks, but on so-called airfields; which are few even in Europe. The transition to North American rinks is a challenge for a hockey player. However, for a goalkeeper these difficulties should be multiplied by two. The Swiss League is probably My favorite European League. But I can’t say that this particular goaltender stood out to me or that he dominated. If we look at Hughes' junior career, He changed teams every year or more. Then Connor moved to Europe and in the 2017-2018 season He did not play at all for Ambri (a team that was not in the best condition at that time). In the European leagues there is a special attitude towards Canadian players and if they have already arrived, they will be there; most likely to play. In the same season, he played 21 games for the Rockets, in which he allowed 3.2 goals (SV 903). I should mention here that the Swiss league is much more difficult for a goalkeeper; because hockey there is much more open than in Sweden and even more so in Finland. The following season, Hughes played 25 games for the same Rockets and allowed 4.6 goals per game (SV 893). The following year, 2.3 goals per game (SV 928(, but only 16 matches for the Langenthal. Further, Connor, is playing for several teams in each of the seasons. In total,, at the different levels of the Swiss hockey, pyramid, Hughes did not play even 15 games a year. In the 2022-2023 season, the Canadian goaltender played 36 games for Friborg, in which He had 2.32 goals per game (SV 907). But next year there were only 19 games for Lausanne and a couple of matches for other teams. As you can see, nothing spectacular. I certainly wish the coaches and Hughes the best of luck and would be happy to be proven wrong. But these are the doubts that I have and which I decided to share.

Very timely video. Seems the players are behind Houle and those that have moved up or down and back have done pretty well. Hughes stabilized his goaltending. Incoming prospects should add some scoring punch which should help the Rocket have a stronger season. Hughes was mentored by Cristobal Huet and was the best goalie in Europe... I think this is a different beast than Mann was as Hughes is 27 from London, ON... not worried at all about him and his role with Dobes. Davidson could be fun if he can play a full season!

Connor Hughes was so good this season he ended up fully establishing himself as the number 1 starter in Lausanne, which is one of the top 3 teams in the most talent-rich league in all Europe (just above the SHL) he's .940 in 19 games of regular season. Best SV% of all goalies in NL having played 15 games or more. Not only that but he then CARRIED that team to the Swiss playoffs final. He's got a .933 with 2 clean sheets in those 18 playoffs games. Kaskisuo ain't bad at all, and as you mentioned a good deal more AHL/NHL seasoned than Hughes, but let's be honest : he's nowhere near that level. If they're bringing Connor Hughes in it's clearly to challenge Dobes significantly more and try to bring the Rocket back into the playoffs. Times of mentoring are over, welcome to the era of fighting for the spot Jakub.

Moving up will cost and we have lotsa' D and trading Roy is a loss so trade Matheson and keep Savard as our veteran. but a large forward seems likely. We have Suzuki at 210 lbs, Dach, Slav, and Armia on our fourth line. Priority is not size. A play driver like Catton would add more to the TEAM concept and a need for variety. Catton has it all and needs weight which is simple to solve. Catton pound for pound is the best forward in the draft and the play driver will add more to the TEAM. Size is easy to find but a solid play driver will win hockey games. Lafleur, Richard, etc were all under 6ft but were Giants and were play drivers. We cant pass up on this opportunity. Pick Catton! in trade and may get Lindstrom at 5. GHG

I think there's going to be at least 5 defensemen (maybe 6) who are going to get picked in the top 15; Artyom Levshunov, Zeev Buium, Zayne Parekh, Sam Dickinson, Carter Yakemchuk and Anton Silayev. San Jose will pick Macklin Celebrini. If Chicago picks a forward, it'll be either Ivan Demidov or Cayden Lindstrom. If they pick a D, it'll be Levshunov, Silayev or Yakemchuk. Chicago's pick really depends of their evaluation of players. They might go for Demidov and take the risk. He might not be able to adapt to NA, or adapt to NHL hockey, and it might take a few years before he can come over, but due to his potential the risk can pay off big time. A lot of teams are probably eyeballing Demidov's playmaking ability. The first team to pick him gets him. If Chicago thinks the risk isn't worth it, then they'll probably go for Lindstrom because of his size and because he is the top power-forward of the whole draft. Then Anaheim. They're going to go through what Chicago went through just before them. If Chicago picked Demidov, Anaheim will pick Lindstrom, and if they CHI picked Lindstrom, Anaheim might pass on Demidov also and go for a D. Unless the #2 forward on their list is available, Anaheim is going to be on a very tough spot; picking between their 1st D on their list or their 3rd forward. I don't think Lindstrom will be available for CBJ. If both CHI and ANA pass on Demidov, CBJ will also pass unless they already made a deal with the kid and he wants to play there specifically, like Michkov did with PHI last year. If CHI picked Lindstrom, and ANA picked Levshunov or vice-versa, chances are that CBJ passes on Demidov and go for another scorer like Eiserman, or they're going to go with their best D available on their list. Unless the teams acting before MTL don't pick the player MTL wants, then it's going to be even tougher for MTL. I think the fans would love a Demidov pick and they would hate the call if MTL passes on him just like they would hate it if MTL picked a D. PERSONALLY, I think they are eyeballing Lindstrom. The majority of people think Demidov will never be available at 5th overall, and they could be right, but I think Lindstrom won't be available 5th overall. If neither are available there's a good chance that MTL takes a hard look at Parekh because of his potential offensive upside. I don't think they will pick Eiserman or Silayev. Tig Iginla, Trevor Connelly and Beckett Sennecke might be the next forwards on their radar, or else they're going to go for Parekh or Dickinson. That is if Celebrini, Lindstrom, Demidov and Levshunov aren't available because if any of those 4 names are available, MTL is going to pick it. If Celebrini, Lindstrom, Demidov and Levshunov were picked and they want Parekh or Yakemchuk, then MTL should trade down with Calgary. Calgary would pick Tig Iginla 5th. Parekh might not be available later at 9th but Yakemchuk will. Utah, Ottawa and Seattle speaks after 5th, so one of them is going to take a risk on Eiserman or Silayev, or maybe both will get picked, then the third team might go for Buium or Dickinson instead of Parekh, and there in 9th MTL would have both Parekh and Yakemchuk available. In the end it depends of their list. Parekh and Yakemchuk will both be available at 5th overall so we'll see if MTL wants one of them.
