My interpretation of the gasp is that Eliza sees the audience and realizes that she succeeded in her endeavors and their story has been told. Alexander’s spirit guides her forward so she can see. No, it’s not Lin himself, he confirmed he’s not breaking character here. It’s Alexander the character/person thanking Eliza for everything by showing her that she did it. And she gasps in amazement and wonder, looking hundreds of years into the future at us watching and discovering that all her efforts were worth it.

Saw Jodie in the West End and she was incredible - she more than deserved to win but that key change in the sing off… just wow!! 🤩

This is one of my favorite musical theatre songs of all time. I think they’re both really great singers but I don’t think if their voices blend together very well. Their tone and approach are very different in a way that sometimes clash. Sometimes contrasting tones can sound great if you know how to play it. Maybe this is just an off night.

Came here after falling down a well of Tony performances. I remember watching this live after just getting into Broadway heavily, and this performance changed my life. I adore this show so much I took my fiance to it, and even though she’s not a musical fan at all, she LOVES The Band’s Visit and tells everyone about it all the time. It’s just such a beautiful song, a beautiful story, and I hope the tour comes back around soon. Hell, revive this masterpiece!
