Hi, after i have linked it to my Home assistant on my computer, can i take the ESP32 device and plug into a power source instead of my computer? I managed to make it work with my home assistant however, when i unplug it and place it somewhere else, it says "This entity is no longer being provided by the esphome integration. If the entity is no longer in use, delete it in settings.". Any advice please?

Thanks so much on a clear, concise and easy to follow guide. I've been running HA for well over a year in a container on my NAS,, but I've been slow to get to grips with how containers work. If you're reading this and you have a QNAP or Synology NAS, using their Container program, I highly suggest installing Portainer to do any actual backend stuff (it's also better for duplicating containers to create backups), the Container app and Portainer will run side by side. I found QNAP's Container Station wouldn't run the install command, threw up bad download link error, but Portainer worked as shown in the video a treat. Needed HACS as I'm considering Meross plugs which aren't officially integrated.

Thanks for the feedback and the input! I'm glad the guide was helpful and that Portainer worked for you. I’m sure your tips will be valuable to others watching the video.

Why bluetooth proxy is better than dongle which turned on directly to HASS server (Raspberry Pi)?
@SimplySmartHouse2 ай бұрын

Thank you! The specs say the LD2410 is meant for indoor use, but I don't see a reason not to use them outside with proper protection. Just make sure to use a waterproof enclosure, a reliable power source, and ensure good Wi-Fi signal. I don't have an example of an outdoor setup, but those tips should help. I think an ESP32 can work with both a mmWave sensor and a camera connected to it. However, both the mmWave sensor and the camera are power and processing-intensive, which can lead to performance issues and instability. I've seen many projects integrating a PIR sensor with an ESP32 cam, which might be a more suitable option. What's your use case?

For those finding this after May 2024 and having issues: Use exactly Ubuntu 22.04 as he states in the video. If you need to download it, you can also download it by using a Torrent Client (also stated on the website) which is way faster. To compare, latest version took me 5 minutes for 6 gig, the 22.04 took me 4 hours estimated for 5 gig. Using the bittorent client it took roughly 10 minutes. If you downloaded ubuntu 24.04 like me thinkin "later is better, right?" balena etcher will not work. You'll get errors in the range of "gconfig & gconfig2 not supported" or whatever it was. Trying to fix it is a whole rabbit hole, especially if you never used Ubuntu. Also a minor thing, after Home assistant is installed and you have that ASCII like thing. You have to go to another computer and do the ip adress thing over there. Apart from this issue which at the time of makin the video obviously wasn't a problem. Great video. Worked like a charm :).
