Anyone having difficulty replacing battery? I feel like the cables are going to come apart

So be careful with the MSR cans you definitely want to have some sort of cover over those because if you strap them straight to the bike vibration can wear a hole straight through the can before you know it. I seen it happen somebody duct taped it to the handlebars of his bike off-roading. Luckily there was no fire.

I've seen other people with the stalling issue, it might be the charcoal canister filling with fumes on hot days. Jakethegarden snake on KZbin had the same issue, something to consider! Easy fix

Had the 300 rally , but even as an experienced off road rider, the tall seat height was not good for my short inseam on big hills, thinking of buying another one and lowering it 40mm.

I have the same motorbike and it is quirky and endearing. I am also ready to move on. I want something that can be a tourer both on and off road. I’m also searching for what’s next. I have a brand loyalty issue but need to find my unicorn if it’s out there. Have loved all your Himalayan content.

Yep...it's quirky, but I love it. I have recently put a few deposits down on new bikes...but still not sure what I'll end up with until I get out on a few demo rides.

I have the same bike, an LS. It'll be a year old in October. She does get hot although the coolant level is fine. I'd be interested in hearing why your bike was stalling as I've had it happen a couple times when I'm in moderate/rough terrain.
@On2Feet
@On2Feet 4 күн бұрын
This has happened one other time when I was riding on rough terrain during a very hot day. There was no warning light that came on and coolant levels are fine...so not sure. It certainly seems like some kind of vapor lock or flame out. I know these bikes are set to run lean...and run hotter because of it. It has me wondering if it might be time to get the 550 ECU...simply to run the bike a bit richer.

Honda could sell a ton of these in a slightly larger frame with a bigger engine around 300 cc

I did this last month. Hiking SP Crater is no joke. It's steep AF and the cinders keep falling downhill as you go up.

Don’t want to scrawl your thought process but the new Himalayan has many engine problems. Has been out here in Asia for awhile now. New engine for company and bugs need to be worked out .

I love your thought process. I went through the same thing, which led to me deciding to have one big road bike and one smaller dual-sport instead of my Africa Twin, which was too big for me to handle in many off-road situations. And I love the BMW RS1200 I have for the road, but I found my Honda CRF250L has a few weaknesses. So I have put a deposit down on a new RE Himalayan, but it hasn't arrived yet and I'm in a swirl of re-thinking. Keep the CRF and modify it (still underpowered); go for the RE (my mechanic advised me not to); or something else. So many bikes; so many choices. Subscribed. Looking forward to watching your decision process.

Hey buddy, I’m a motorcycle mechanic and have owned my Himalayan for 4 years and 35,000km. I loved every second of it. Yes, all the shortcomings mentioned in every other review are true, but the motorcycle really is better than the sum of its parts. Having said that, since you’ve owned an Africa Twin and now own a CRF, not sure if it’s what you’re expecting. It really is an agricultural motorcycle, especially when compared with Honda. I hope you enjoy it, and if you don’t like it at first, give it a chance. The Himalayan grows on you, and you have to understand it, which takes some time and patience. Good luck!

Great video and totally understand where you’re coming from! I love my 2022 Himalayan but there are frustrations with them that you’ve covered ie stalling issues. Highways can also be a pain point especially out west. Can’t wait to see what you narrow down your list to and watch your purchasing process

I highly recommend checking out the Honda Transalp. It’s an excellent bike, great engine characteristics, super comfortable and checks so many boxes. I kick myself all the time for not just ponying up the extra money and going with it from the start vs getting a 2023 Himalayan Scram, being unhappy with its road quality then buying a 2nd used road bike.

Such a good bike the Himalayan. I bought a 2019 model this spring with 1300 km on it. Already have over 2600 km lol. Love it and getting attached to it. Good luck on your new bike journey. There are a few good ones out there like 450 MT from CF moto and the new Himalayan as you said.

Never figured it out. I was able to peer inside the motor and see that it wasn't the crosspin on the cam. I honestly have no idea where it came from, and the bike appears to be running fine...so short of doing a complete engine tear down, I don't know that I'll ever figure out where it came from.

Always hard to let go of a vehicle that you love and has served you well. After 35 years of riding, I'm looking to get a small adventure bike to open up my riding possibilities. Being 70 years old though, I know it won't be one of the huge ones, super powerful, too tall, or too expensive - and yet I want it to be sophisticated in all the right ways. I now have a deposit down for a pre-order on my chosen bike. Gosh I wonder if we are looking at the same one?? Guess I'll have to wait and see what you end up with... 🤔😁

It's possible we ultimately end up with the same bike. I'm trying to stay pretty open minded and I have 4 or 5 bikes that I'd like to research further and am looking at seriously.

Excited to see what you choose. I’m a similar height as you and feel like a lot of the adventure bikes are “off limits” due to seat height. I currently have a g310gs, but couldn’t imagine something taller and heavier when sizing up in the future.

What size bolt did you use to attach the handguards?
@On2Feet
@On2Feet 22 күн бұрын
If you're bolting right into the factory bar end weights in the factory bars, I used my own pair of M6 bolts. i would have preferred M8, but didn't want to drill out the M6 threading. Now, I have aftermarket pro-taper bars with hollow ends and used the mounting kit that came with the hand guards.
