Getting older; got rid of my 21:year old heavy cruiser (Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad) and just bought a 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan. Loving it!

Great video and totally understand where you’re coming from! I love my 2022 Himalayan but there are frustrations with them that you’ve covered ie stalling issues. Highways can also be a pain point especially out west. Can’t wait to see what you narrow down your list to and watch your purchasing process

Always loved the open and easy gong nature of this channel. Interested to see what you do next in terms of the bike :)

I have the same motorbike and it is quirky and endearing. I am also ready to move on. I want something that can be a tourer both on and off road. I’m also searching for what’s next. I have a brand loyalty issue but need to find my unicorn if it’s out there. Have loved all your Himalayan content.

Yep...it's quirky, but I love it. I have recently put a few deposits down on new bikes...but still not sure what I'll end up with until I get out on a few demo rides.

Always hard to let go of a vehicle that you love and has served you well. After 35 years of riding, I'm looking to get a small adventure bike to open up my riding possibilities. Being 70 years old though, I know it won't be one of the huge ones, super powerful, too tall, or too expensive - and yet I want it to be sophisticated in all the right ways. I now have a deposit down for a pre-order on my chosen bike. Gosh I wonder if we are looking at the same one?? Guess I'll have to wait and see what you end up with... 🤔😁

It's possible we ultimately end up with the same bike. I'm trying to stay pretty open minded and I have 4 or 5 bikes that I'd like to research further and am looking at seriously.

Such a good bike the Himalayan. I bought a 2019 model this spring with 1300 km on it. Already have over 2600 km lol. Love it and getting attached to it. Good luck on your new bike journey. There are a few good ones out there like 450 MT from CF moto and the new Himalayan as you said.

Definitely looking at both of these bikes as potentials.

I love your thought process. I went through the same thing, which led to me deciding to have one big road bike and one smaller dual-sport instead of my Africa Twin, which was too big for me to handle in many off-road situations. And I love the BMW RS1200 I have for the road, but I found my Honda CRF250L has a few weaknesses. So I have put a deposit down on a new RE Himalayan, but it hasn't arrived yet and I'm in a swirl of re-thinking. Keep the CRF and modify it (still underpowered); go for the RE (my mechanic advised me not to); or something else. So many bikes; so many choices. Subscribed. Looking forward to watching your decision process.

Hey buddy, I’m a motorcycle mechanic and have owned my Himalayan for 4 years and 35,000km. I loved every second of it. Yes, all the shortcomings mentioned in every other review are true, but the motorcycle really is better than the sum of its parts. Having said that, since you’ve owned an Africa Twin and now own a CRF, not sure if it’s what you’re expecting. It really is an agricultural motorcycle, especially when compared with Honda. I hope you enjoy it, and if you don’t like it at first, give it a chance. The Himalayan grows on you, and you have to understand it, which takes some time and patience. Good luck!

Sounds like you need a KLR ;). It is hard to pick a new ride. I’m unfortunately in a position where I can only have one bike at a time, so it’s made my decision making that much harder.

Can’t wait to see what you’re looking at. I’ve been in a similar frame of mind over my Gen II KLR. Thus far, I just haven’t decided on a suitable replacement.

I have several candidates I'm looking at more seriously....but it will take a bit of research and hopefully...test rides.

I highly recommend checking out the Honda Transalp. It’s an excellent bike, great engine characteristics, super comfortable and checks so many boxes. I kick myself all the time for not just ponying up the extra money and going with it from the start vs getting a 2023 Himalayan Scram, being unhappy with its road quality then buying a 2nd used road bike.

It's definitely one of the bikes on my list!

Excited to see what you choose. I’m a similar height as you and feel like a lot of the adventure bikes are “off limits” due to seat height. I currently have a g310gs, but couldn’t imagine something taller and heavier when sizing up in the future.

So you are riding the Himalayan still with the metal part in your oil. Did you figure out what it was. Maybe I missed it.

Never figured it out. I was able to peer inside the motor and see that it wasn't the crosspin on the cam. I honestly have no idea where it came from, and the bike appears to be running fine...so short of doing a complete engine tear down, I don't know that I'll ever figure out where it came from.

Don’t want to scrawl your thought process but the new Himalayan has many engine problems. Has been out here in Asia for awhile now. New engine for company and bugs need to be worked out .
