After the material dries, isn't it matte? When the sink is glossy, wouldn't there be a difference because of the enamel?
@HIMGsurfacerepairАй бұрын
It's actually the opposite! Our material dries more on the glossy side, and if you needed it to match a matte surface you would use the included sandpaper to match the texture. We used the wet sandpaper (also included) for this repair so that we wouldn't mess with the gloss.

Can you add colour to it and do it in parts to match the natural colour and pattern?
@HIMGsurfacerepair2 ай бұрын
You definitely can! We sell kits in a variety of colors for this reason (as well as single-color syringes, available only on our website). Clear is a popular pick for those who don't want to try to recreate that surface by mixing colors, but instead just amplify the natural stone underneath.

Hi ,what's the blue light and what does it actually do to the resin, I know it sets it but what's the science
@HIMGsurfacerepair3 ай бұрын
Hey there! Our kits don't use resin-- they use Light Cure Acrylic (LCA), which is a technology we created 30 years ago! LCA cures with a specific spectrum of blue light. Once cured, it can withstand moisture, cleansers and heat up to a maximum of 285ºF. It is non-toxic and a safe alternative to epoxy.

Dropped a heavy glass salt grinder onto my 1" thick quartz edge. I have a large chunk on the edge about 0.5" - 0.75" wide at the top then tapering down to the bottom of the "V". It is maybe 0.125" from where the edge used to be in depth. The piece is big enough to be placed back in the spot but naturally little fragment pieces are missing from around the edge. Should I glue this in place then do a repair or just try to fix it with clear acrylic? It's in a very noticeable location and the size makes me uncomfortable

Just ordered a kit. Question, if I have part of a piece that broke off, would it better to use that piece and apply the repair in and around it? Or just start fresh without the piece?
@HIMGsurfacerepair2 ай бұрын
Sorry that we are just seeing this comment! You may have already made your repair, but in case you haven't -- it depends on the size of the damage! If it's a fairly large piece, it could be best to first secure that piece with a strong hold adhesive back into place and then fill in the gaps (we sell Self Cure Adhesive, which is used exactly for this sort of thing). If it's a smaller damage, we recommend starting fresh. In the future, you can always feel free to send us an email at [email protected] with a picture of your damage!

Yes! Matte finishes are achieved with using the included sand paper after curing of the acrylic repair material. We would suggest skipping the polish paste in this instance.

Hi. I have a quartz countertop that chipped in the edge. I've saved the little piece. Do you think it's better to try to glue it back on, or fill it in with resin or super glue?
@HIMGsurfacerepair Жыл бұрын
IF it is a small piece, it may work with super glue. We also also a stone adhesive that we call SCA - Self Cure Acrylic. It is a non-toxic alternative that provides a very strong bond.

Can you do a corner??
@HIMGsurfacerepair Жыл бұрын
Corners are tricky, but can be done. It will be suggested to have clear packing tape handy. With the packing tape you'll need to make a retaining wall to hold the repair material. Used as a form, it will allow you to cure the repair material as a corner.

I'm wondering if sanding down the fill will damage my white quartz countertop? Will it leave a dull spot or scuff marks ? Thank you , looking forward finally repairing it !!
@HIMGsurfacerepair Жыл бұрын
The repair kits include two grits of sand paper, 220 and 2000. They are include and necessary only if the damage is overfilled. A perfectly filled damage can be cured and left as is. For soft surfaces, we suggest you only use the 2000 grit as it is much more gentle. Filling to 100% will save time and repair material.
