Is vaseline a safe assembly lubricant? Why not use a coating of the steering fluid?

Clumsy damaging way demonstrated to compress the pistons, best to use a brake pad compressor. A compressor doesn’t damage the face of the calliper.

To each his own. I’ve done it with pliers, screw drivers, compressor, etc. as I said in the video, I’m sanding and painting the calipers so I didn’t care about the face of the caliper.

Are you talking about the fan connector with the red tab early on in the video? You have to get in there and look at it, the red piece pops out and then pull it apart. It’s a royal PITA, but it definitely comes apart

I used the 3M adhesive and although it worked great on the felt strip, it didn’t adhere at all to the rubber strip. I had to strip that gunk off the sunroof but it left absolutely no residue stuck to the rubber. Any thoughts or any other adhesive recommendations?
@beardedgarage
@beardedgarage 3 ай бұрын
I’d still use the same 3M adhesive, I’d just recommend using less than you think you should, apply to both sides (car and rubber strip) and let them get tacky before you put them together.

I just rewatched this video and it looks like we just didn't show the jerry-rigging of radiator to the frame. Apologies for that. It's been a while, but we took the grill out and had access to to frame components on both sides of the radiator on the top. The factory clips were shot and I was able to wire those components to the frame behind the grill.

This is a really nice size garage, compared to mine, I only got 20x20, not terrible small but I am struggling on decisions on where to put the columns; my project involves a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country, seems it is in dimensions pretty similar to your Honda, and then a 2000 Toyota tacoma which is little smaller, I cant dry fit the van because it does not run and its parked in the driveway, once lift in place will have to push it with work van which is Mercedes Sprinter up into the garage, i got a big driveway but slopped down slightly to the curve, I am thinking to set the columns centered 9 feet from the garage door edge closed, have to figure out the width; from the garage door rails there are 24" but all of the perimeter has shelves and cabinets except the for 4 feet in the center, the column closer to the wall will be mere inches from it, will be hard to drill the holes and work around there but if I move it farther away like 36" from it then the other one will be past the center of the garage opener, then when the van raises it will be preventing it from going all the way up; the garage opener sits right in the middle of the garage so this situation would be the same on the right or on the left, I believe from the edge of the garage rails to the center of the garage rail that carries it there are 7 feet, the van width is right under 6 feet so as you can see i have a pretty tight space here, one solution would be to clear all around the wall where the car will be closer to but this would require lots of time and plus I have no other place to move things, as a matter of fact still making space to move stuff out of the garage as it have been mostly storage for years and it have been full of years of hoarding stuff that I cant just throw away like tools, some big enough to take all the space; I have a project to built a shed room on the back yard 12x16 but that has not happened yet when I decided to get the lift because the van needs to be fixed, so big decisions which kind of funny stopped me temporarily from moving forward, also waiting for a hose, the creeper and those kind of accessories for this project; more space needed! Crazy!
