Try counting 3 seconds inhale, 6 exhale. The key for me is counting the seconds so you stop thinking and you become present

And if people are only responding with “wow” or “man that’s crazy,” that should be a hint to tone down the talking as well. Lol. I’ve heard responses like that before.

wow it seems obvious but I never knew it. Give abbreviated summary of the story and then elaborate if people show interest. I just ramble. I gotta stop doing that

Best advice: deliver bitesize pieces of info. If they want to know more, they will ask a probing question to get more out of you.

I know a guy who likes to talk peoples ear off. Same with my Aunt (God Love Her). But yeah they don’t know when to stop talking. They just talk and talk and talk and talk and talk. None stop. Not giving anyone else a chance to speak. Most of the time I just pretend to listen to them. And I know that I might be an ass for that, but at the same time, stop talking too much and give people a chance to say something. That was literally how it was with them both. And this one girl I used to talk to in school. She would keep my on the phone for 3 hours. She’d be the one talking. I’d be the one “Listening.” Yea we didn’t last long at all.

This piece of advice is so crucial, I was always bothered by the idea that I talk too much with no idea of what specifically to fix, so having an anchor like "speak in a manner that's proportional to the level of interest in the person you're speaking to" takes away a lot of overthinking and stress. Thank you.

Super hard to look at a person, and listen to them at the same time. Then to add thinking about how much eye contact they are making and making that much back, and watching them for other body language cues. Plus, then formulating verbal responses, as well as getting very self conscious that they will think I'm odd because nearly everyone seems to once I talk with them. Overloading and exhausting.
