One of these days, I'd like to produce a video that elicits such a wandelust within me in the way that yours can. These days, the thought of walking through a steamy jungle in 100% humidity fills me with dread and trepidation. But that cold bottle of Chang over ice? Brother, you spoke directly to my soul right there. We have an evening, a full day and the following morning in Bangkok next February. We're en route to the Philippines, to shoot the breeze with our architect and to see family, and so we can't devote more time to Thailand. But I know that one day, when our plans bear fruit, we'll be tracing your footsteps - not through the jungle, but certainly on that beach with the beer close to hand. Looking forward to the next adventure.

ha! i get it 100%... those moments under an thatch umbrella are my favorite as well... if you need any tips for your time in Bangkok, pls don't hesitate to let me know and i hope to meet you on that beach one day

We were in the same bungalow as you until a week ago. There is no doubt. For the second time. The video is well done, no doubt about it. What kind of drone is that footage? However, the only thing I fear is that booking this place will become even more difficult and the number of people on KohMak will increase. But nothing can be done about it. Every beautiful place gets lost and over-tourism destroys it...
@AroundTheWorldWeGo2 күн бұрын
that's wild!! great spot for sure... the drone is a DJI mini 4 pro, but i also use an Insta360 x4, which gives the illusion of close up drone shots... but it's actually like a gopro on a stick...
@AroundTheWorldWeGo2 күн бұрын
also, i agree with your fears... i HOPE Koh Mak is a ways off from that happening -- and having a private family own the island and setting the rules helps ... but i agree; it's probably an inevitability... always an ethical dilemma with this stuff... on one hand, tourists don;t want more tourists, because we like to keep things "the way they are" when we experience them... but the locals i spoke with all pray for more tourists, so they can support their families... always a double-edged sword

@@AroundTheWorldWeGo We had similar equipment. The DJI Mini 4 Pro is a great companion for traveling. I don't have Insta, but I filmed with the DJI Pocket 3 and Action 5. By the way, I have the footage we took there with me, but I'm not lucky enough to have my wife as my filming assistant and actively helping me like yours. It's clear that you both enjoy making travel videos, you do it great. I just steal moments to film when she would like to do other things :-D But she likes the subsequent travel video... You've got it better :-) Go ahead and say hello to your wife.

Dude how the fuck is Pai hidden, it's one of the most popular tourist places in Thailand and is basically ridden with hippies.
@djbarnes1128 күн бұрын
The hippies left pai years ago the new age has arrived. With foam parties bikini boxing; and a big piss up, all at very high prices! What’s hippie about that. Hippies had respect for the environment that is definitely not the case in pai anymore
@AroundTheWorldWeGo28 күн бұрын
You bring up a very interesting point… this is def a different breed. Most “hippies” I knew in the 70s were adamantly against all war in all of its forms, while today, many of those same folks favor US involvement in wars (Ukraine, Gaza, etc). In the 70s, hippies advocated free speech in all its forms, but now some of those same people favor censorship whenever it challenges their beliefs. In the 70s, hippies completely distrusted the government and authority, but today the same people I knew back then now favor government mandated injections etc. It’s really been fascinating to watch their worldviews completely flip over the decades (I guess age does that to us!). I wish George Carlin was still here to provide some colorful commentary on the topic! 😂 At least most seem to still have a genuine concern for the environment in most cases!!!
