I wanted to chime in now that my wife & I have stayed there for 7 nights...one word: Perfection. We stayed at Ao Kao White Sands on the western side of the Island. I wish i could share the sunset pics somehow bc they dont even look real...thats how amazing every evening was from our room. The whole Island is just perfect. Chang was good, Kood was nice...but Mak stole our hearts forever...❤.

that is SO GREAT to hear, Kelly! sometimes i worry that I "oversell" the many places we visit... i truly love them but i'm also something of a raging optimist... so i never know if others will enjoy places as much as we do... we're so glad you enjoyed it as much as we did! We haven't been to Koh Chang yet, but would lile to!

@AroundTheWorldWeGo We love raging optimists! lol! After 7 nights on Mak, we were ruined! You are being totally accurate about this little paradise. We stayed 7 nights each on Chang, Mak, & Kood and we wish now we'd just stayed at Mak and done day trips out via Boonsiri or however. Chang is ok...it's so very busy due to the vehicular accessibility by ferry. With 85% of Chang still mountainous jungle, we struggled to find a serene area where we felt totally chill, especially by the water. Mak made all of that better, though...lol. We are looking around now at tons of other potential islands. I wonder if you guys are also looking around for more perfection after Mak? Thanks for replying. LOVE your channel!! Great videos!

....And then, months since we heard from you last, you pop up in Thailand with another absolute gem of a video, perfectly paced and narrated, and guaranteed to give me a dose of travel fever. I wish you would take this travel vlogging business more seriously, as you have a God-given talent to accurately transmit the vibe of your destination. See you in a few months, or hopefully sooner.

I went to your channel page to choose another video to watch, only to find that you've been posting quite frequently. I wish I could rely on KZbin to actually do what they claim to do, and offer me videos from my favourite channels with greater reliability.

Wow, it's just wow . This is the kind travel blog we need. It's like a documentary except better. I've been watching Thailand video for a long time. I came from there, and I would love to go back and live there. Life is slow, not like usA and other Western countries . Manifesting it every. Single day. Sometimes I think about it too much. I even have dreams about it.

We were in the same bungalow as you until a week ago. There is no doubt. For the second time. The video is well done, no doubt about it. What kind of drone is that footage? However, the only thing I fear is that booking this place will become even more difficult and the number of people on KohMak will increase. But nothing can be done about it. Every beautiful place gets lost and over-tourism destroys it...
@AroundTheWorldWeGo2 ай бұрын
that's wild!! great spot for sure... the drone is a DJI mini 4 pro, but i also use an Insta360 x4, which gives the illusion of close up drone shots... but it's actually like a gopro on a stick...
@AroundTheWorldWeGo2 ай бұрын
also, i agree with your fears... i HOPE Koh Mak is a ways off from that happening -- and having a private family own the island and setting the rules helps ... but i agree; it's probably an inevitability... always an ethical dilemma with this stuff... on one hand, tourists don;t want more tourists, because we like to keep things "the way they are" when we experience them... but the locals i spoke with all pray for more tourists, so they can support their families... always a double-edged sword
2 ай бұрын
@@AroundTheWorldWeGo We had similar equipment. The DJI Mini 4 Pro is a great companion for traveling. I don't have Insta, but I filmed with the DJI Pocket 3 and Action 5. By the way, I have the footage we took there with me, but I'm not lucky enough to have my wife as my filming assistant and actively helping me like yours. It's clear that you both enjoy making travel videos, you do it great. I just steal moments to film when she would like to do other things :-D But she likes the subsequent travel video... You've got it better :-) Go ahead and say hello to your wife.

You don't have to worry about the Island becoming too touristy, it hasn't changed much over the last 20 years and has less tourists now than 10 years ago...its a gem to spend time there and the best of the archipelago.
@AroundTheWorldWeGo2 ай бұрын
Well, this is "good to know" from a visitor perspective, although I'm sure the locals would welcome more business for their families... hopefully they can continue to strike a balance... thank you for the historical perspective!
