for $20 Ulanzi MA35

I like it but I’m struggling to think when I would use it. I have a Q2 that I use for most photography. If I’m not carrying it and I see something good, I’ll use my iPhone (a12 mini). This would involve me taking the grip because I think there’s a high chance of taking a photo but not high enough to take my camera. I suppose if you definitely don’t want to take your camera (eg a gig or candid street photography) but want decent photos this might work. Have I missed something?

Does the grip only work with an active Fotos Pro app subscription? While I know you lose some functionality if a Pro subscription lapses into the free app only, does the grip also lose some functions?

I own a Oltre RC with shimano Di2 for almost a year. My previous bike was a Pinarello Dogma F10 and I was in the lucky circumstance that the bike shop organized a test day where I could ride several bikes with my own saddle and pedals. I had setup a 30 km trajectory and rode all bikes with a constant power of 210watt. The course had some long stretches and some narrow winding roads and it was quite windy that day. The bikes I tested were a Pinarello Dogma F, the Bianchi Oltre RC and to be sure the Bianchi Oltre pro and a Willier. There is still a huge difference in riding experience between the bikes. I felt much more connected with the Oltre RC, specially on the winding sections; The RC was also the fastest over the distance. I went there with the Dogma F in mind but I was sold when I saw and rode the Oltre RC. I changed to tubeless setup which is even better and have now over 13000km after almost one year; Never looked back. Is it worth the higher price compared to a pro? Absolutely, it is in a different league.

First off the Leica app is not very good, mire like crap and for the money sure nothing for me. The grip on the other side is a neat idea, yet the implementation is horrible and so is the price :)

Yeah, and i transformed my VW Golf into Porsche by gluing a Porsche Badge in front of it. 😂

The video shows the phone attached, directly, to the iPhone but there's also a comment that it will work with iPhones in Magsafe cases. I use a Peak Design Magsafe case which has its own Peak Design Magsafe charger / stand. Do you know, for certain, whether the iPhone will attach to Magsafe phone cases and connect to the app? I spoke with a guy at a Leica dealership who said it has to be attached to the iPhone itself. Personally, I'm hoping I'll be able to retain the case on the phone but we'll see...

I already use the Leica Lux app paired with the Fjorden grip. Like the combination to have physical control buttons. This Leica Lux grip looks much beefier ans similar to my Leica SL-2S grip which I love. So I definitely will buy this grip. Thanks for the review.

Hmmm... curious. I've downloaded and now use the app and the high-contrast mono mode actually surprised me. I'm a Leica Q2 Monochrom owner who loves their Leica mono. THe app actually mimics the Monochrom closely. Clouds are especially contrasty which is a feature of the Monochrom that I love in particular. The app is pretty darned good I have to say. THe grip? Interesting, frankly... 🤔

some people have no shame promoting crap. if it was a 5$ aliexpress bluetooth remote shutter, i could be more easy on it. but it is a scam made by leica to take money of their fool (wannabe) clients. to put this thing onto a phone and promote that it transforms the phone into a leica....this is serious mind bending....

For the price and function I think Leica missed the mark on this one. If they were able to somehow incorporate a flash into the grip, that would make it stand out. Missed opportunity.

completely and beyond overpriced, minimal functionality and doesnt work with the native or other apps and cant be connected as any other device. all that nothing for a lunatic price tag and as if that isnt enough, you need to PAY for an app, or this shiny part doesnt work at all! must be a leica, i guess.

It’s nice. I use Leica for my photography projects because of the lens quality of Leitz, I, however, would love to see if Apple will use Leitz glasses someday which most likely won’t 😢

The people pretending Leica is a serious photography brand and not just bullshit. You can buy grips like that for a couple of bucks from Ali express. Just print Leica on it and there you go. What a scam.
