I got one the original as a gift and it is super has the flash and is in a sturdy case - has light leaks but seals are kaput and I have removed them and have replacements on order from Ebay ! My advise is to get a camera strap unfortunately it's a generic and hard to get - I got one and it is super as camera is slippy to hold ! Its a bit of an engineering marvel ! waiting for those seal and have rolls of Kodak Portra lined up !

Of course, the damned square can be cropped to your favorite rectangle. When I look at the ground glass I see a vertical rectangle and a horizontal rectangle. The best part about the Hasselblad is that you don't have to turn the thing on its side to change orientation.

I personally prefer the 645 1000s with a PDS prism. Just gives me the fizz like a camera should. These later version Mamiyas tend to encroach into the world of plasticky DSLRs we all have had to experience. Nothing like a late 70's made 645 1000s.
@alexander.starbuck18 күн бұрын
I agree, I’d also prefer that one but this one was available closely to me.

@@alexander.starbuck It's still a great camera to have no question. Get as much use out of it as you can. I ended up keeping the 80mm lens from my 645E and sold the body to KEH for 200 bucks. Then I bought a 645 1000/s body and PDS prism from them using some of that money. The interchangeable film back would literally mean nothing to me. I'm ok with getting my 15 exposures of whatever I have in the camera and then switching films if I find it necessary.

As someone who has owned the Mamiyas in 645, RB67 and the older Bronica S2a, I recently picked up an SQ-A and I have to say I absolutely can tell a quality difference but more so towards the Bronica. The viewfinder is brighter, the components all work flawlessly, even the focusing glass can be removed in the field to clean from BOTH sides not just the top or to install a newer or different type. The lenses alone feel like they focus much better than anything else I've owned and that's even compared to my Pentax 67 system too.

Hello, I have seen the videos. The videos are so informative and you are uploading content regularly. But I noticed the viewers, Likes and subscribers are not growing. Because your channel isn't optimized and video SEO scores are too low. I also noticed that you have no video backlinks. Please fix all the problems and upload the videos. Mamiya RB67 is a great alternative to Large Format 4x5. The RB67 is easier to set up, load with film, option for a prism finder, 10 shots per roll and color shots are cheaper than 4x5. The only advantage of 4x5 is the larger format with tilts and swings. The RB67 is 6x7 which is the same ratio as 4x5 sheet film.

Great videos my man! Square format ain't easy but it's actually very interesting when shooting with wide angles (40/50mm) and tele (250), compositions are just going trough it effordlessly. Gotta admire the Planar though!
@alexander.starbuck3 ай бұрын
Thank you 😃, glad you like 'em! Yes, maybe the wide would solve it for me but I never tried the Hass 40, 50, 60 mm lenses so there's definitely room for another take on this format and another video ;).

@@alexander.starbuck Personally i'm kinda hating on 60mm and 150mm focal lengths but i have 50/80/250 every time i go out with my hassy. the only real con is the cost, they went nuts with prices lately, $250 for a film back!

I suppose it’s like with all other cameras - it depends on if you get a good one, or a samole which was used heavily, not taken care of, etc. I never heard that they would be extra prone to breakages :) or something like that.

First of all, very nice video! But where do the bright spots come from in some of your photos, for example at 0:40?
@alexander.starbuck3 ай бұрын
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it :). Ahh, the spots, yes, I noticed these and was a bit disapointed when I got the film back from the lab. It can be either from my improper storage of the film before using it (it did suffer a bit from hot weather) OR from the lab mistreating it during development.

A question about lighting Alex :) Not sure how "versed " you are into it, but seeing you also started quite recently and seems to do a good job for your lighting here maybe you have some good tips :) Im currently only using windowlight shooting in my kitchen hehe. So nothing fancy. And while that works ok daytime and mostly the warmer part of the year the wintertime is pretty limited here in Sweden as im sure you know :P I own a lot of flashes and have some nice Apurture Dome softboxes with bowen mount etc. But have like 1 smaller led light, so thinking about either buying a "spotlight" or Godox light for the softboxes i own already( but taking up a lot of space and a hassle to pakc up and down all the time ), or maybe buy a Neewer Ring light and maybe some smaller RGB led for the background. What would you recommend starting out with :)? /regards Martin.

The new x100vi piqued my interest, the larger sensor mitigates the fixed focal lens with the ability to crop in, it's stabilized for low light and video. And it supports heif if I want to save space and skip shooting raw. All of these are where my current x-t30 falls short. I don't shoot any video with my x-t30, the low light even with the f2 lenses is not the best in handheld situations, and I don't have any time to edit raw (even if I do shoot jpg+raw). For family pictures and documenting life, it seems like a no-brainer. On the other hand, with my x-t30 the most magical shots I've made were with the x35 f2, and I think it's the right balance of separation and it's easy to frame the shot, albeit it's too tight a lot of the times.
@alexander.starbuck4 ай бұрын
I’m sure you are going to enjoy the little Fuji if you do decide to buy one! 😃
@stefan33uk3 ай бұрын
It’s a compromise. The 35mm often feels too tight at the point of shooting but the photos turn out great and well composed with not a lot of clutter. The 23mm feels less stressful at the time of shooting because of the extra room, but the shots can end up a bit messier. I have a 35mm f1.4 and an X100V as my only lenses but am thinking of selling the V.

1:12 Don't worry. Only the "skin" of these cameras is made of plastic (polycarbonate)😊. The internal frame is still made of aluminium die cast. Polycarbonate skins do not age gracefully; they tend to become shiny and start looking cheap, but they are very very strong material, and definitely not a "downgrade".
