Considering one of these and after dragging out my old Yamaha FX500b and remembering how difficult it is to use, I think you sold it for me. Thanks for the vid.

So as expected, the one that sounded better ended up being the fender. I still might buy a squire though as a beginner bassist who's just starting out in his yet to purchase his first base

I think a lot of people underestimate the difficulty of this (I was going to call it a bassline but I believe its actually synth/keyboard)

This was an excellent tutorial, I really thought the way you started with just the hammered bass line and then added the other parts incrementally was really clever!!

Talking too fast typical that,e why i never learned a thing from a tutor But i now have a quite good grasp of notes just from my ear , not fast talkers 😂

Nice video! TQ My 78 J was recently restored with PV 74 pickups and Fender electronics with a 0.1 mF tone cap. I love the sound with round wounds. Witht e 0.1 cap, I can get from a reggae tone all the way to a more modern tone. Down side is when the tone is closed, it does have a bit of a muffled bass sound. My fav is neck fully opened and bridge very slightly rolled back.

If you can’t hear the difference, clearly, between these two basses, you are deaf. Bass B sounds so much more even and smooth. If you failed this test, put down your bass and go pick up an accordion. 😂

I’m about a minute and 30 seconds on and with the first riff, it sounds like Bass B is the Fender and Bass A is the Squier. We’ll see at the end. Edit: I was right 😅 The Fender just sounds “fatter”

To me….. EFGABC makes an “S” shape….. then the “S” moves up with the octaves…. Easy enough I memorized all the natural notes in one evening.

Hi. I'm a beginner and I want to change the whole set of 4 strings on my bass, but I keep breaking the E string as I try to tune it. It breaks when the tuner displays E flat. What am I doing wrong ?

Il Fender canta. Lo Squier suona. Ognuno fa ciò che gli è proprio meglio dell’altro. The Fender sings. The Squier plays. Each does what they do best.

Question here please, when I pull the strings to play I hear this pop noise as the strings hit the pick up metal parts, I have also notice on my friends bass guitar same thing how do I fix this issue. I love pulling to play Tha bass guitar , I tried another bass guitar with different pick up and it didn't do that noise

That's what's supposed to happen, when slap players make that really BITEY sound they're pulling up on the string and letting it snap. Try adjusting your plucking style

I have a Squier CV J-bass but also picked up an Affinity PJ-bass recently because the fit and finish are really good, and the neck is superb. The hardware is fine but can be upgraded easily if needed, and overall the bass is fantastic value for money because it punches way above its price point. Must admit that I'd want to see and handle a Squier before parting with my money, just to be sure there are no QC issues, but if my Squiers represent their normal quality these days, there isn't much to fear.

OK, the fretboard part that I'm struggling with is above 14th fret. I never knew my bass had frets 21 to 24. See bass line to Simon and Garfunkel's "America" for details.

Is it essential to have a better slap sound with an amp? Because I don't use an amp and only use a regular Chinese brand speaker that I can use to play normal bass lines on. I tried to practice slap but I can't quite get the sound right.
