Excellent video. Jamerson also played with one finger which he called the hook. I play like this as well as two fingers. You are so right with playing with others. In the 60s/70s I played in a lot of so called garage bands, sometimes we did not play well but we always had fun.

Thanks very much! It was amazing the speeds that Jamerson could reach with one finger, but the consistency in tone was even more impressive. Nothing beats playing with others, I find with young students these days that it is becoming more difficult for them to find others to play with, which is a terrible shame.

I loved this video, more breakdowns of Jamerson and other players of that era! You went about it in a much more nuanced and interesting way than most other video on the topic.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! This video did take me a while to make but I'm happy with how it came out. Whose your favourite bassist from the era?

@@Guitartomguitar I like Willie Weeks a lot! I guess he was more in the early 70s rather than the 60s but I loved his work with Donny Hathaway, for instance on a track called "Love Love Love". His playing is similar to Jamerson, but a bit less muddy.

Tom for this video are you playing a squire affinity bass?
@Guitartomguitar Жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, yes I am. I wanted to use flatwounds, but didn't want to restring one of my other basses.

Thank you for not being a fan of those time keeping slaps. Sounds so lazy and awful on my ears.
