I don't see a video of yours where this comment would better fit, so I'll put it here: Katniss is certain that she has sponsors and yet she nearly dies of thirst before she finds water. Latet she rationalizes that Haymitch didn't send it because she was close to finding it herself. But I don't buy that. Katniss is clearly in extreme distress and travels a far distance before she happens to stumble on it. It's more like Haymitch was making her earn the next parachute and not wasting effort on her if she wasn't able to find water... and later on finding water is not an issue at all.

Not to take up too much for the mom, but Katniss had already demonstrated that Katniss would not accept help from her mother because her mother had not taken care of the kids while grieving the death of her husband. But Katniss had showed respect for her mother's medical healing abilities and clearly the mother found solace in healing others. I'm thinking the healing phone calls between the mother and daughter would have continued and when Katniss and Peeta have children and District 12 is totally reinvented that her mother would have visited on occasion.

The red hair certainly connects the avoxes but I don't know about Fox face. My real comment is about how Katniss is always feeling guilty for things that are really the Capitol's fault. But that is to her credit. Unlike people who quickly look for excuses, she recognizes that her own behavior has played a part in how things play out.

This is where it’s so obvious that Katniss & Haymitch are INFJs and Peeta is an ENFP. Coz he needs the information to express himself in a way that is malleable & acceptable. He understands what he needs to do, but he needs the information to inform his decision making. INFJs & ENFPs both have dominant intuition, but ENFPs share it which is why Peeta is good a public presentation/speeches & why Katniss & Haymitch are better at planning - coz they keep it to themselves. Also we know Peeta’s response in this moment w breaking things is actually not his norm. It is a trauma response. It probably reminds him of how his dad & brothers kept him out of the loop & he’d make a mistake & his mom would abuse him or belittle him while he was growing up. Peeta has always been compassionate - even w Katniss when they were kids. His speech was an extension of that. He’s acting super out of character when he gets mad because of this - this is something you expect and see in both Katniss & Haymitch when they engage in their weakness - extroverted sensing - being IN the real world. Not what you expect of Peeta because he usually just takes it. It shows how much he trusts them that he can even have an outburst like that. It’s maladaptive, but he also recognizes that they won’t change their actions unless he makes a scene. We see it w Katniss shooting the apple out of the pigs mouth & w Haymitch & his drinking. I could literally write a whole dissertation about each characters type & how they interact through it!

Just here to say, that Katniss learnt that back & forth from Gale - the one she felt an obligation almost to have feelings for as her “best friend” (let’s be real, Madge was in fact her actual & consistent best friend). She KNOWS Peeta is kind, but because Gale gives her levels of what she perceives as kindness (due to not having emotional support from her mom) and then blows up about something (she mentions he often goes on rants & she doesn’t feel she can express herself or that he’ll listen), she expects the same of Peeta. How Gale treated Katniss informs how she sees herself & how she sees Peeta (because she likens him to Gale as a potential romantic partner if she lived in a different world). As someone who has worked with clients who have been through serious psychological abuse from narcissists, Katniss displays all the symptoms of a survivor of this & actually details a lot of stories where she glosses over Gale’s weaknesses in this. Many of the actual interactions she has with Gale support his narcissistic tendencies, including when he kisses her knowing she will get in trouble, constantly changes his mind about something when Katniss makes a decision & then belittling her about it, etc. he also can’t even own up to the bombs at the end of mockingjay, even though he knows. Also LOL at her saying he knows about fire as the bakers son, she only knows coz he BURNT THE BREAD. Everything comes back to it hehe. Haha, Katniss lowkey flirting w the humor but not knowing is the funniest thing to me. Im currently writing a Rue fic for fun & I laughed so hard when doing it, coz the 2 of them are so disassociated they wouldn’t have even had a clue if Rue & Thresh were watching them LOL. Also, my fav is Peeta as a rock - in all ways 😏 Peeta & Katniss are literally the cutest couple of all time in this scene, I can’t w the “plz don’t stop holding my hand” 🥹🥹 but also the way that she made the first move by kissing him on the cheek LOL. I never actually picked up on that. They would have had a lot of eyes on them in that moment. And then Peeta declared his love for her in the interview hahahaha. Also, plz talk more about Madge!!! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
@storytimewithyaz
@storytimewithyaz Күн бұрын
I know I commented on your tiktok for this, but I just found you here & I have more thoughts LOL. So here’s something different - I think he’s gauging what her trauma response is, which is usually freeze. He knows fight is there, but he’s figuring out when it comes out. But there is SO much foreshadowing in this I didn’t realize before I saw this. Bravo! &&& I think this foreshadows that he’s trapped in his persona of Capitol playboy & that he’s actually being exploited & doesn’t like it. While Katniss rolls her eyes & walks away, she also uses the knot in her private session w the Gamemakers, so she remembers it & honors him in a way. I’m sure Haymitch took this into consideration when giving Finnick his stamp of approval in the bracelet. But also again, I wonder if this ties to the previous comment I made on your other Finnick/Katniss video about Mags/District 4 knowing more about Lucy Gray through Tigris. Coz The Hanging Tree. Like do we think some of her songs got out of D12 somehow? Maybe we’ll spy some of that in SOTR!
@storytimewithyaz
@storytimewithyaz Күн бұрын
BABE! I’m currently rereading TBOSAS & Tigris literally gives bread pudding to Snow for Lucy Gray & says, “And there’s plenty, so you can take a piece to Lucy Gray. She said she liked sweet things - and I doubt there are many left in her future!” The way I SCREAMED. He might be trying to see if she even knows anything about Lucy Gray to help with what type of things they can share w her/what she’ll get it 🤯 - let’s keep in mind his mentor/fellow Victor Mags won the 11th Games & we know she was a huge part of the rebel plans & the most likely to have heard anything about Lucy Gray’s Games. We know Tigris also likely styled a Career District during her time working for the Games. I feel like there’s so much lore added to this tiny conversation from TBOSAS! Also I love that all the Victors play up how uncomfy Katniss is around anything overtly sexual. They all try to throw her off there like a fun little welcome to the family game. Poor little innocent INFJ Katniss haha. I love Katniss & Finnick’s friendship coz Finnick genuinely teaches her how to express her feelings - it’s evident he’s an ENFJ & I just think it’s the most precious thing. No one else could have helped her with that. I bet he helped Haymitch (also an INFJ) with it too which is why Haymitch trusts Finnick w Katniss.

I’ve never thought about it like this w the 8 girl - thank you! I feel like it’s implied even by Finnick (who was likely mentoring & therefore seeing all the BTS footage) & Haymitch that Peeta is the “best” of all the Victors & there was no ill intent behind anything he did - either if he did mercy kill the 8 girl & also w foxface & the nightlock.

I think a big part of his flirting was also to determine whether he can trust her. He's got a lot to loose beyond his own life by coming out as part of a rebel plot. He doesn't know if Katniss is solid enough to risk Annie's safety. He plants the idea of prestige and wealth in the capital to see how she reacts. He offers her sugar that's not his to give. He flirts with her quietly, so it's relatively safe for her to flirt back. She rejects his offer of sugar, smoothly deflects his flirting, and doesn't even seem amused by the idea of prestige and wealth. She can't be bought. Now, saying that, I wonder if this wasn't just a little bit a reference to the Devil tempting Jesus in the desert. I used to hate how my 9th grade lit teacher always brought it back to Christ symbolism, and now look at me.

THANK YOU. So many people read the books and act like Katniss suddenly became “weak” or something. Babes she is a CHILD who went through 2 death matches and a civil war… in like 2 YEARS. She is BROKEN. It was genuinely so cathartic finally having a character shown to be traumatized. She was well and truly shellshocked and ready to end it all after she did what she had to do with killing Coin. Like she fully thought her punishment would be death and torture and she didn’t care as long as justice got served for Prim. Katniss was really ride or die for Prim. It’s telling that part of what snaps Katniss out of her catatonic state is Peeta planting _primroses_

It was always apparent to me that Peeta immensely contributed to Katniss‘s image as the Mocking Bird. While Katniss‘s actions were mostly rebellious , Peeta managed to make the people like her more, be more emotionally attached to her. If it weren’t for Peeta, Katniss would probably just have become a terrorist or a martyr in the public’s eyes. Whether he did that consciously or not (I think both), it was never Katniss alone who tore down that system. And that’s what I love so much about this series.

Another bit of commentary I love from this scene (didn't notice it myself, but saw another commenter on a reaction video somewhere point this out) is that the Capitol citizens are totally content to let children fight to the death, but as soon as there's risk of harm to an UNBORN child, specifically one inside a woman who they're invested in controlling as "their" little star ... suddenly they're very interested in saving THAT nonexistent child. But not poor ones that already exist. Interesting how that works :P

Hi, I just found this and I'd like to share that I'm doing the same thing! I'm beginning my day with the Medical Medium protocol, lemon juice, celery juice, and then the Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie. Then from 11 a.m. on, I'm doing Dr. Michael Greger's protocol. .... I started Anthony William/Medical Medium in September in hopes to eliminate eczema that I developed from stress of my mom's death in 2023. By going cold turkey giving up coffee, cacao, vinegar, etc. (I was already vegan so I don't consume dairy), I felt amazing -- AT FIRST. The first three months were so great that I was thinking of doing a MM cleanse at the beginning of 2024. Then it was so weird, I started getting really depressed and developed some neurological symptoms that I haven't had since 2018! I had a strong feeling I was missing something in my menu (I don't say "diet" because it's not a diet, but a lifestyle change). During my time with Medical Medium, I never trusted all the sugar he had in his recipes. His maple fudge made my teeth feel sensitive. I missed having vinegar on my salads. And I was often hungry. (I lost weight I necessarily didn't need to, but I am happy to have lost it). .... On Dr. Greger's protocol, in just a few days (along with some added supplements) the neurological symptoms are slowly but surely going away. I'm sticking with avoiding coffee and cacao, but I've added back beans (though not as much as Dr. Greger recommends) and healthy grains and none GMO soy! I'm 61 years old and my entire life I haven't had problems with grains or soy, so going back feels like "home." It reminds me of my early vegetarian days in the 1980s. I'm going to try Eikorn pasta for the first time today. I feel more full and focused. Also, I love that Dr. Greger says to eat most of your calories earlier in the day. It's always been better for me that way. I just do not like to eat late in the day. I never did. I think combining the two is a good idea as I did reap some benefits from Anthony William so I'll never knock him. Best of luck on your journey!!

@DeathnoteBB 2 күн бұрын
I’m not the video maker but basically: Katniss didn’t love Peeta, she met him once as a child and met him again properly after the Reaping. Her and Peeta were putting on an act during the Games to get sponsors to send them medicine and supplies. After the Games Snow tells Katniss to make him believe that she loves Peeta. The thing is Katniss is bad at acting, which I’m sure Snow was counting on. So Katniss, to survive, had to do her best to act like she loved Peeta which sort of broke through the facade and became real. Now Gale was someone she actually probably loved. She knew Gale since she was younger, and her relationship with him was fully out of the public eye. With Peeta she was putting on a show for Snow and the Capitol. Gale she was able to interact with honestly and privately. She loved both of them for different reasons. Peeta because of necessity and survival, Gale because of her actual relationship with him.

I never thought she offed herself. Like, maybe if she were in danger and kept it as a back up. But things were actually looking up for her at that point, I thought. That's not the point where offing herself would have made any sense. She was trying to survive and make it through the games. If you fear being brutalized and are keeping a cyanide pill to save yourself from that fate, you don't use it unless the bullies catch up with you.

A fair take! This may be dumb, but I always assumed that when Peeta went back, he saw the district 8 tribute was already dead and the canon didn't go off because Katniss was still too close to the body even though the Careers pack moved further away. It's a dumb because he wouldn't know Katniss would be in the tree, or where anyone else too close might be for that matter, but I'd assumed he went and moved the body further away since strength is His Thing and he's smart enough to think that distance may be contributing to the canon issue, and then he lied to the Careers because it would help him look better to them and he's good at working a group of people. As evidence, while I agree completely that a mercy killing is within his character as well as sitting with someone until he died, his unintended killing of Foxface hit him really hard later in the book, and when Katniss points out it's his first kill (?? Going off memory) he doesn't rebut it. He seems like the kind of person who would give an "actually the first person I killed was..." sort of response if that was true. No matter what it was (because your take is good), he absolutely didn't turn Career. I love my boy Peeta.
