I noticed even at a low level the ability to consecutively back dash will give you a crazy upper hand over your lower level opponent
@DaikenFGC10 ай бұрын
IT REALLY DOES! Players at low ranks are kinda just doing strings across the screen. Having the ability to create space for launching whiff punishes is easy rank ups at low rank Tekken
@Vespyr_10 ай бұрын
New players practicing to do kbds is funny to me. There are so many things you need to be learning before this ever becomes useful. I've thrown people right out of these so often lately.
@Guitar-Dog10 ай бұрын
Especially in T8 KBD isn't necessary it's more just 'movement cancelling'

What's kbds?

@@leeli4692 "Korean back dash", when you move backwards faster than by just pressing "back,back". It's very tricky and will take a lot of time (probably months) to do it perfectly and apply in the real matches.

I mean if you gonna play the game seriously you mine as well train it 30mins to an hour a day. Thats what I did back in T7 before the game came out. It wasn't that bad. Creating space from my opponents is easily the easiest way to win at low ranks imo

Side stepping in Tekken is akin to doing a parry in 3rd Strike... it's just... Tekken also has parries...

I see more people mash on hit in SF6. People aren’t scared about counterhits as much as they are scared to get thrown or whiff punished .
@killclair459410 ай бұрын
I’ve bin playing Tekken for years. I’m pretty go fox I don’t back dash. Just wait half a second longer to throw your attack. Counter hit. Don’t over think anything.
@blairwich193510 ай бұрын
Jin's back-dash cancel is tougher this time around. Very short window. 😢 APM definitely is a factor. So working out your hand / wrist is something only that can be developed over time.

The move list coupled with the reactions I got from other players...starting with very negative reactions was my first big experience.. The notation didn't help as it had nearly nothing to do with Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat notation (My first 2 non Smash bros fighting games)...and I'm still struggling to figure out it all intuitively. The strong incentive to specialize into only one or two characters is also something that is strong in this game that I am not entirely familiar with as well.

Theres a misconception on whether or not things are reactable (and readable) in Tekken. Things are telegraphed, especially i20+ moves, and You CAN react to thjngs if you're godlike but most if not everything in this game for normies like me is a read. You read lows and not react to them, EVEN the slow and big lows. You Sidestep something 'preemptively' based on a read, not a quick reaction. (PHIdx expands on this in a video.) Same for parries, throws, etc And so on. Only the godly few can truly react in this game.
@SugarRoll10 ай бұрын
No mention of throws? It will ruin your day when you fight someone who can break throws and you can't.
@DaikenFGC10 ай бұрын
You know I had throws in my notes but decided to not include it in the video idk I couldn't think of a transition into it! But yea they are vastly different from majority of fighting games. Even the new throw tracking is messing up experienced players

Instead of hurting your wrists, get a leverless controller. Tekken has no 360 inputs. You can get good "snackbox" for $50 if you know where to look. It sucks learning leverless but, you only have to learn it once.
@DaikenFGC10 ай бұрын
Haha I definitely don't want to do leverless that would be much worst for me since I dont have good individual finger coordination. That would probably be a much worse pain for me tbh
