quality outboard equipment with good sound from small manufacturers doesn't come cheap.

The things driving cost here are the engineering time, the taxes, and the fact that this will never sell enough to create economies of scale. As far as size is concerned, it's really not a stretch to do with SMT. I can't see the PCB on their website, but their other devices are machine placed. Outside of basic assembly, this isn't a hand built device.

I'm not mad. But for people who take their work seriously, it feels a LITTLE ridiculous that it costs $1,000 more than a Xone:96. Cuz I'll bet a lot more work goes into making a Xone:96. I mean honestly... Carbon fibre? Is that how we're justifying the price? 😂

So the usual, almost reflexive demand for gain matching, which is totally on point for other types of demos, is irrelevant here. The whole point is to show that it sounds louder and "better" without an increase in nominal output levels.

thanks for you input - in the launch video I did: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKrKnqScgbGBrJIsi=Sg2Wy2v56QdHbN21 also on sonicstate is a video from this year's superbooth which is level matched, but with the imc500 module. the max output in a studio environment (+4db) will never cross ~ -1db, which is super helpful for producing. here we just wanted to show the real life usage (and of course impress as much as we could :))

Guys, consider that YT analyzes the overall integrated LUFS loudness level of the entire content of the video (including moments where music is not playing) to determine whether it should lower the volume of the video if the calculated loudness exceeds -14 LUFS. The more the video audio is "wrapped" in silence, the more it allows the video to effectively offset the loudness that would otherwise get tamed by YT, which is clearly problematic in this use case, especially since enforcing a -14 LUFS baseline is inappropriate for music generally. There are ways to achieve similar loudness without any noticeable latency penalty (sub 3ms) with software using things like a clipper/tube mastering style compression/tape saturation emulation plugins for a very small investment, which makes the IMC product a very tough proposition for most people due to financial considerations, despite its clear merit.

Hi, how can we say if it’s dope? We know our ears react well to louder sounds and it’s the case here on his a/b comparison. Not fair, not easy to say anything unfortunately.

@@VEsound Listen first and when Stimming switches it on lower your listing volume. It clearly adds a nice analog thickness/saturation to the sound, and a thump to the kick..
