This is brilliant. A lot of house is severely lacking in the bass department, and there is really so much going on with the multiple bass synths in this song..... It's soft and subtle but still booms adequately. The bass synths are really interesting in this song. Usually in a progressive track (I'm not saying this is progressive) everything builds into something grandiose just to drop to nothing and start over again. In this song the experimental sounds are always present and are louder in certain parts of the song, but the bass builds into a wholesome sound, and though it's the same rhythm it changes the way the rhythm is played twice which keeps this song unique and extremely bass oriented. I think bass plays a very important role in any EDM genre or EDM sub-genre, and the fact that the bass is the main focus of this song is what makes this so catchy in my opinion. The fact that the bass isn't overloaded or distorted and implemented in such a soft and subtle way- yet still has a nice booming sound is another thing that just makes this song so captivating. I don't mean to take away from the experimental sounds, which are also sort of subtle. The experimental sounds in this are really great and always changing so my ears are constantly picking apart each individual sound to make sure I don't miss anything and to identify it if possible. As a musician, I'm used to picking out an instrument or sound in a song and separating it from everything else to hear exactly how it's played. If you play by ear you might also do this to learn the notes played by an instrument so you can play it yourself. This can be really challenging, and sometimes the more challenging it is to pick apart and play..... the more respect you have for the song and artist that created it. Needless to say.... I have a profound respect for artists that use sounds and chords that are not easily recognizable and leave you listening intently each time you hear it. In EDM the artists that manage to captivate me in this way are few and far between. Deadmau5 has this ability, because he has several songs that build from scratch so you can hear each sound as it is implemented such as "Polaris", "Imaginary Friends", or "Closer" (for reference). This song captivates me in a different way. Everything is subtle, so you have to listen closely to catch everything and some sounds that were implemented don't sound even remotely the same in other songs..... That's what makes this so captivating and unique. I absolutely love it. Well done.
