Awesome brother! I started a booth in the summer of last year as well. I focus more on video games then comics, but it’s been awesome to be able to sell stuff that isn’t worth putting online.

That's rad! I'd love to have a great video game booth around here! I hardly ever see video game vendors!
@Calgary_Comic_BooksКүн бұрын
Great video. Thanks for sharing your experience with the booth. I’ve been running one up here in Calgary, Canada for the past 9 months and it’s been a great experience. Much easier to move books than waiting for shows to vend at or even online when photos, listing, shipping etc becomes time consuming (especially for low value books). I don’t have supplies to purchase at my booth (bags/boards). I wasn’t sure if the space I’d lose is worth the margins. I’d make more have extra wall/display room for keys. What’s been your experience?
@TheDudeWithoutFearКүн бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! The only reason I decided to put supplies in there was because there wasn't a store close by that sells them and I'm just trying to have it if they need it. I don't move many bags and boards, but I move comic boxes pretty consistently. I'm also probably the best price around on boxes, so that probably helps I'd imagine. But i would say, if you have the space to spare, stock a few supplies and see what happens, but I wouldn't trade comic space for supply space. I'm after more comic space myself lol!

What sorts of customers are you getting? I don't know anything about comics beyond the marvel movies, and I've never been able to tell what the demographic split was between kids and adults, casual readers and hardcore fans.
@TheDudeWithoutFear2 күн бұрын
That's a great question! From the ones I have met, the majority seems to be dudes in their 30s and up. A couple possibly in their late 20s. One of them brings his young teen/pre-teen daughter with him and she loves comics. One dude came in with his teenage son. I have only met a couple of female customers. One was a wife of one of my regulars and the other was a very young girl, around 18 or so. Some that I have met are hardcore readers/collectors and some that I've met are just getting back into the hobby because they collected as kids. One guy who comes in only ever buys a couple of mystery bags every so often because they remind him of the 3 packs you used to be able to buy at kmart and off of the Home Shopping Network when he was a kid. He gets a big ol' hit of Nostalgia and also gets a taste of what is out there that he might want to start collecting one day.

Those The Tenth books will sell, and that Mystery Men comic is awesome. Over all though those can sell, even if they are $2 books you can still have interested buyers with most those books which will look alot more appealign re-bagged (which is also an extra cost for buying bags / boards and tape). What If 10 sounds like it will pay for the sale, so way to go.
@TheDudeWithoutFear8 күн бұрын
Thank you! I agree, it has already paid for itself. I love being able to rescue comics like these, put them in fresh bags and boards and get them into a new set of hands that will appreciate them. It's like Comic Rescue 911 lol!

Disagree with not putting lower value books in mylar, if they are in high grade. Because you only have to bag them once over the life of the comic, the cost per year is negligible. Plus, you never know how much any particular book may appreciate in value 10, 20, 30 years down the line. Keep it well-preserved for yourself, or its next owner.
@TheDudeWithoutFear27 күн бұрын
I can see that point, for sure.

Dude. I’m right there with you on the feeling of uncertainty with grading companies. I wouldnt call myself a raw or graded collector. I can do both, but the anxiousness of sending them in the mail to be graded just kills me. I have a few of these and they work great. They make silver age size also. Great video man. Enjoy those comics.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet but if, god forbid, you drop the clear backboard on the corner, it will significantly harm the comic..

@salg-1980 Жыл бұрын
The point is the first apearance of the character, how can you say it’s not about the where he first appeared? It litterally is only about what issue he first appeared in. First full apearance isn’t first apearance, it’s exactly what it says it’s the first full apearance. The first apearance is the first apearance regardless if it’s not a full apearance, it’s still the first apearance. GEN-Z kids are stubborn and don’t make any sense. I’m sure it’s because they purchases as many 181 thinking that was the first apearance and missed out on 180.
@salg-1980 Жыл бұрын
Grading companies can say what they want but Marvel the company has the past say so. Look at Wolverines card, behind it says firs apearance is 180. That seals the deal. Crybabies can try to force people into saying it’s 181, those people are like that Trump is to our government and what the trans comunity is doing with pronouns. Just stop it guys. 180 was printed first and you can see Wolverine on that comic book. Just because the NEXT comic book has more pages and story on Wolverine bottom line is he FIRST APPEARED on 180 even if it didn’t satisfy the quantity of pages you’d want him in, he was still in 180 first. You guys act like some silly trans maga Trumpets. LOL…
@salg-1980 Жыл бұрын
180 is the first appearance 181 is the first full appearance. So to make things clear, Wolverines first apearance is 180. If someone wants to know when his first full apearance was, then it’s 181. Nobody ever asks when his first full appearance is. A cameo is completely different.
