I have the Cioks DC7 and the DC8. I have heard it pronounced "Chocks" and I have heard it pronounced "Chucks" and I think either is acceptable. What is NOT acceptable is pronouncing it as "Sy ox" as I heard someone online pronounce it.

I have the one spot pro cs 12 and had the same experience re the noise. One thing I read somewhere is that the pedals will still draw the current they need even if the port isn't rated for the current the pedal needs. That was specific to the trutone products, not sure if it applies for the cioks. Also, if you need to, the rig doctor has some tutorials on how you can create cables that hook up to two outputs to get enough current. It's all pretty easy stuff to do.

I think the cioks does come with cables for doubling. My next step is trying to upgrade the patch cables, I’m sure that’s a factor.

I use a volume box in the effects loop ( preamp out, power amp in). I can turn all the knobs up on the gain channel and control the volume with the box. I can practice without bothering anyone...too much.

Honestly, it strikes me more as a DS-1 variant. I’ve tried a few other pedals from this line since this video and their Galactic Groove is a really good take on a Rat.

I have heard that the US made Redstripes are the pinnacle of solid state peavey, but it is the redstripe era where they switched to China. I’m really on the lookout for a deal on a US made Redstripe Bandit, then my collection will be complete.

Since you had overdrive on your guitar before adding the Donner pedal, your sound is fraudulent on the intro.
@Chucksguitargeekery
@Chucksguitargeekery 2 күн бұрын
This is a style of overdrive that most will use with a dirty amp. For my intro jams I tend to find a sound as I would actually use a pedal in the real world. Then through the video I try to cover how it sounds into amps from clean to heavy.

I have one of these. I like it for what it is… but I’ve had a LOT of internet “experts” tell me it’s based on a Tubescreamer circuit, not a BD-2. I have a couple of real TS pedals, and this doesn’t strike me as exactly one of them either. I would have thought that if it were a TS, the company would have made it green and put Tube or Scream in the name somewhere… like the thousands of other cheap TS knockoffs out there. Either way, it’s an OK drive pedal, I dig the bass boost setting, and it saves me from bringing an old and fragile TS-10 or TS-5 out of the house.
@Chucksguitargeekery
@Chucksguitargeekery 3 күн бұрын
Right on, it’s kind of its own thing, but I think it’s more in the vein of a TS than a bluesdriver. Maybe a bluesbreaker, but I haven’t played one of those.

The Studio Pro and Studio Pro 40 have EDI cab simulated outs built in. They are the early versions of cab simulation (inductors/caps) and sound compressed, but a cool feature on amps that are 40-44 years old!

Dude. You're style and feel are incredible. I'm getting thin lizzy vibes, HARD. Rock on, Man!!!!!! I have an old 79' Peavey Deuce VT with original RCA tubes and it peels paint off walls. I'm not sure but I think I remember it having an xlr on the rear like that'. Just copped a super clean black tweed classic 30 and I think it's the best amp I'll ever own. (maybe the last amp I'll ever need to buy) They're amazing. Thanks for the vid. The Keith Richards comment was hilarious.

You kind of nailed it with the Sheffield. It has a very brittle sound to it that makes you unsettled. I have a silver stripe Bandit and push a Celestion Speaker in it. The difference is extremely noticeable. The Celestion made me want to play my Bandit all over again. I also have a Renown 212 that has Scorpions in it. I should try those on my Bandit.

Which Celestion do you have? I’ve been toying with changing out the Sheffield in my silver stripe, but not sure which direction to go that can handle the 80 watts.

I will say if you find one, the stock speaker (Oxford in the 20 watt) leaves a lot to be desired. I’m using an Impulse Response with the line out in this one, but I swapped in a Scorpion speaker that in the room makes a big difference.

A lot of times people will think old Peavey’s don’t work and have them listed dirt cheap, but it’s just a dirty effects loop. Putting a simple jumper cable in the effects loop can make it work again.

I have a Tank-G and today I got this M-Vave Mini-EFX. I think it makes more sense to check the sound in conjunction with a very clean amp setting in the Tank-G. Setting 4 is the most useful addition in my opinion. It's amazing what sound quality is contained in this small and inexpensive box. I paid 13 euros - a bargain.

Chuck, I really appreciate your videos. I even went out and bought a Peavey Studio Pro (as well as a Studio Pro 40) after I saw you video. Question. How would you use the Radar with something like the Peavey Studio Pro or the Studio Pro 40?
@Chucksguitargeekery
@Chucksguitargeekery 9 күн бұрын
The way I use it is send the line out (1/4” unbalanced) to the radar. Then that can go to FOH (it won’t affect the sound of the amp). I like the 1x12” kitty, sm57 mic, and I like having the power amp sim on too (it just makes everything sound sweeter 🤷‍♂️). What’s important is the high and low pass on the parametric EQ.
@anthonyrexhouse5858

@Chucksguitargeekery Is there any advantage to using the balanced line out with the XLR? Or are there any applications where you would need to use that output?
@Chucksguitargeekery
@Chucksguitargeekery 9 күн бұрын
There’s no benefit going to the radar, plus you’d have to get an adapter too. In theory, the XLR would be used to go straight to FOH, but it sounds awful on its own.

I think it not about better or worse, It’s more about convenience. No it doesn’t sound that different but now I don’t have to bring my amp with me and can use what ever the venue back lines and still have a pretty close representation of what I’m used to playing on.
