Ok first of all, that last baby was so content!!! Just immediately fell asleep in tht box, lol. Also, where do all these momma racoons go? Are their secondary den sites just other houses in the neighborhood?

The more I have watched & personally observed it amazes me that most animals face all forms of dangerous situations to rescue their babies, unlike the human counterparts!!

You know, considering y'all work with raccoons and other wildlife: are you up to date with your rabies shots?
@nadialolly-ej8rl3 күн бұрын
I’ll never understand this, like just let them stay, they’ll only stay a couple months and once the pups are 2-3 months old, they will likely leave. At least wait until the babies are older first. Incredibly sad, they’re not doing any harm.

Earlier this year there was a raccoon in our roof one night; she had pulled off the bottom of the hardware cloth we had bolted over the vent with her clever little hands (you couldn't even tell she'd done it from the outside!). Our exploration scared her off. We used a cell phone on a stick to make sure she hadn't moved any babies in, and covered the hole with perforated metal screen this time, and stronger bolts, haha. My wife said, "If I was a raccoon, I'd want to have my babies in the roof. It looked cozy and dry." I hope she found a lovely place to have her babies. I thought of your channel the whole time!

We've been using a Reolink PTZ cam in our attic to watch for signs of intruders, including raccoons. Since we had our holes patched up and protection mesh installed (and trees trimmed back), we've gone a full year without any intrusions. Just recently ordered some more Reolink cameras that I'm still waiting delivery on to replace some cheap Eufy cams I've been dissatisfied with. Reolink are good cameras for relatively cheap that is on par with our Unifi cameras. I don't use Unifi for the PTZ cameras as they are far too expensive for the more advanced cameras. That's where Reolink comes in.

I wish homeowners would allow the mamas and babies to stay especially when they’re in an outdoor structure like this one.

I do!

It’s not safe for the raccoons or humans for them to stay. This seems like a shed the homeowner uses, not some abandoned out building on their property. The raccoons will cause damage to the shed (not to mention pee and poop in there),. And could attack if startled or feel threatened. It’s better if she relocates to her other den site.

I rescued a starling today. It got in the warehouse i work at and naturally tried to nest in a part of one of the back doors. Above the door was a hole and it went in and couldnt get out. Like, the door jam part. its a warehouse door so around the door its metal. I had to use a sawzall to cut through the metal and when i got a hole cut, she stuck her head out and waited. I said i cant saw with you standing there but it didnt move. Finally i was able to saw a little more and bend the metal back and she finally jumped out. After letting her outside she looked around a lot and started feeding. A beautiful bird. I hope she comes back to see me

Any thots on why she was tearing up the ground? Possibly to see if they could be dug out or perhaps a nervous thing. Suspicious and cautious moms are successful moms.

Why were they disturbed and moved in the first place? It was a nice cosy safe den for them and they weren't causing any bother. Before long, they would have left anyway. I don't see why the family was put under stress unnecessarily.

You should explain how the mom gave birth to the cubs under the deck. There was no holes for the vixen to get in.

The young girl needs to learn how to be STILL when the mother raccoon is coming for her babies. Those raccoons are smart. And they have a king sense of smell. As much as you all do this. She should know this

Why not just leave this fox family mama to raise her babies safe and dry under the porch? This way you can help them to be safe and sound! Not understanding why they are being disturbed rather than safe, dry, and warmer under the porch? 🤔 ❓ 🤔
