Having worked for a fleet management company that offered novated leasing, here are my tips - 1. The amount you pay pre and post tax is based on the taxable value of the vehicle which is approximately 20% of the purchase price. You pay the taxable value in post tax dollars each year and the rest in pre tax dollars. To increase the proportion you pay pre tax, buy a two year old used car as it would have already depreciated (lowering the taxable value) but still has manufacturer's warranty. 2. Do the numbers on whether you use the company's insurance or your own. If you have a good driving history, you may get insurance cheaper than the fleet policy. However, one advantage of the fleet policy is there is no age restriction or excess. Fleet insurance may be cheaper if you have a poor driving history or have drivers aged under 25. 3. You can generally arrange your own maintenance, insurance or fuel and keep the receipts and claim the expenses back. This is often worthwhile as the fleet company will sometime charge for providing these services. You can buy the cheap fuel and still claim the cost as part of your lease. 4. Whether you buy a vehicle outright or lease it, there is a financial cost of the vehicles price. The lease interest rate will probably be higher than you might source elsewhere and even if you pay cash, that money could have been in the bank earning interest. When comparing costs, use a spreadsheet lease payment calculation over the same time period to compare the difference in payments over time. While the lease interest rate may be higher, the tax saving may still be beneficial. 5. If you don't spend all your budgeted expenses, you will get the remaining funds back at the end of the lease. However, they will deduct the tax payable first. In the last six months of the lease, if it looks like you will have excess funds, either reduce your budgets or look to spend the extra funds. It may be worthwhile to put new tyres on the vehicle in pre-tax dollars than get the extra back after tax. 6. Don't commit to a too large a lease. It's a trap to get caught being mesmerised by the potential big tax saving and not leaving enough of your salary for living expenses. Don't allow yourself to be car rich and cash poor.

It doesn't give much else though. Toyotas are horribly boring to drive. No you won't waste money, but it feels like you're 30 years older driving one of those. It's true.

Mentioning all design features, good or bad, poor breaking, but hey… two videos into GWM at all and I read a comment that this tank thing is rusting from new underneath all over! So parking it anywhere on the coast in Australia, where misty salty air covers vehicles by the minute, they wont last long. You don’t even have to use them in 4x4. Do not buy GWM! they rust through before you even had some kms on them!!!!

Thanks for your info. I went through NV when I was younger. First X-Trail model (yes I'm old). Great car but I felt as though I lost out when I needed to cut the lease off by 12 months. Needless to say I didn't understand the contract. I'm now looking at NV again but only going for 3 years this time and looking at EV with the incentives. MG4 mid-spec to be precise. This vid has certainly prompted me to go over every detail and will get an accountant to review the figures with a fine-tooth comb. Hopefully, I'll make the right decision. Enjoy the coffee I sent! very few people can afford to buy new car outright $50,000 DRIVE AWAY NO MORE TO PAY.. most people will get a car loan $14000 deposit ( your pay out figure ) $3600 over a 5 year loan @ say 7.5% = $720 per month ...now add all running costs,,, petrol, rego insurance, servicing, tyres... figures will be pretty well be identical,,,,HOWEVER.. all this is post tax...with the tax savings a novated lease will be cheaper

Welcome to the naming convention of Tiggo! Here in Indonesia Tiggo 8 was sold as three types 1. Tiggo 8 (no pro, 1600 cc turbo, new front grill). 2. Tiggo 8 pro (2000 cc turbo old interior and front grill ). 3. Tiggo Pro Max (2000 cc turbo, with new interior, new grill, and AWD variant). All type has two trim Comfort and Premium with different features. I have own my Tiggo 8 pro for 1.5 years, got 18k km clock in the dash. Daily drive along with my Peugeot 5008. No major issue, only once I have issue with the key remote which give a beeping error whenever I lock the door. Take it to the dealer they fix it by re-initialize the remote. My only concern is some of the interior gave noise when moving on bad road. Will likely fix by finding the source of sound. The engine is so powerful that you have to acustomized pushing the gas pedal. On the highway the acceleration blows out lots of SUV in its class, only some powerful twice the price of the car that maybe able to beat this engine. Agree that the beeping when car left on is safety features Paint quality is good in mine, but my car is locally built, maybe different manufacturing process in Russia? Smartphone connection is simple, but the audio unit really picky on the cable and brand of phone that were connected. My experience you must use the original phone cable and use Chinese made smartphone (I use Xiaomi). My Samsung phone can connect but sometimes freeze. Good tip on adding mesh to the grill, but will use a larger mesh to avoid congestion of air during high speed. My friend tiggo 8 pro has pass 70k km with no trouble, only changing brake pad in 60k. Price of the parts in Indonesia is rather expensive compared to other Chinese car. The battery itself cost around AUD 300 because it's an AGM battery that often use in BMW and Mercs. It's for the start stop system of the car. Normal battery cost about AUD 100-150 here. Sorry if my comments getting long. But overall I'm satisfied with the car, and probably will trade it with the PHEV one when they release it in Indonesia. Fuel consumption, city driving 9-10 km/l, on highway 14-15 km/l.

Hi All, I’m not an expert in accounting by any means to comment. But this is more of a question that I wish I had some clarification before I took out a 4 year NV. For the first flag mentioned in this video, I’m highly likely to stay with my current employer for the 4yrs. Total pre tax and post tax sum was about $1900 per month. I’m paying a little over $1400 after tax savings per month as a combined deduction from my salary. I’m saying this cuz the difference in my salary statement was only $1400 dollars a month since I’ve started my repayments. This sum includes fuel for 20,000 kilometres, annual servicing, insurance, rego and two sets of 4 tyres. When I did my own numbers, if I excluded all my extras, I’d pay approximately $52k as the actual lease rental in the 4yr term. My balloon payment is slightly under $30k. But my driving conditions have changed drastically since I started. My estimated kilometres have more than doubled to over 50k a year. But I’ve had my lease provider to give me in email that there is not going to be any fee or penalty for driving over estimated mileage. Is this something I need to get more information and further confirmation from the lease company? At this stage, after 4 yrs I’d be an idiot to pay $30k for a car that has done above 200k kilometres.

Forget leaseing a petrol or diesel xar an E.V. makes much better sense as its 100% paid from pre tax salery.

do you still own the RHD LDV D90? thinking to purchase a 2024 brand new or 1-year old - because it’s rear wheel drive (2WD) and SportsAuto gearbox. Would be used to drive inner city and once in a while long drives 900km-1,200km oneway highway driving then a week later drive back. would you recommend the D90?
@JJ-uy2sg2 күн бұрын
I actually was looking at LDV D90 and decided against it. LDV = Lemon that Devalues lol. You can google customer reviews and so many people have so many different problems ranging from mechanical to issues with customer service. There are also some frustrating electronic features but I could live with most of them. Its reliability, resale value and customer service that put me off. I kinda wish GWM had an SUV that's bigger than tank 300 but cheaper than tank 500, an affordable 7 seater built off the Cannon Ute, I'd consider GWM as they are a Chinese brand really trying to crack Australia. You might want to also look at the SSangyong Rexton, build quality seems better than LDV but they are rebranding to KG Mobility soon so again likely to devalue quick.

For the 2nd owner, that kind of fine mesh will seriously hinder airflow to the radiator, though. At high speeds, air will slam into that fine mesh as if it were a solid surface.
@boomerau6 күн бұрын
All good considerations. I know a lot of people on really high salaries that make this work in theory. In practice for all the reasons you mention I'm not keen. Think if your lease came up 2 or 3 years ago - ugh.
@paulminchington61116 күн бұрын
I investigated novated leasing last year when buying a $35k new car that will be doing less than 10k kilometres per year. I was in the fortunate position that I had the option of buying outright, so really took some time to figure what was best. I ended up doing the relatively simple calculation of taking all the petrol, insurance, maintenance, etc out of the offered monthly lease cost assuming that they'd be the same after tax cost either way (noting in reality we can get petrol, tyres, etc cheaper as you mention). Then multiply the remaining monthly out of pocket cost by the lease term plus the remaining balloon and that's ultimately what you're paying for the car including the tax "benefits". Even assuming lost interest on the outright money spend, I would have into the leasing company for a car and a half, even if I was still in the same job. So I agree that in my opinion, leasing is not right for everyone.

I think it all goes to show that the Tiggo is built to a price rather than a standard. Nothing wrong with that as long as you bear that in mind when buying one.....
