Cool video but why would they put rod holders in the front of the boat?

I weigh 275lbs will this kayak be stable enough for me I’m also brand new to kayak fishing but want a pedal drive cause I will be using in salt water and big lake and some creeks so I like the option to take the drive out for the creeks how stable is it compared to Seastream angler 120pdl ?
@johnwilliams6506Ай бұрын
Hey Mike, how does this kayak compare in terms of stability to the 12’ model you tested about a year prior? Does it paddle that much easier to make up for any lost stability? I’m a 6’ 190lb guy and looking at both models. Thanks a bunch

Is hobie owners only the name of the tournament? Or do you have to have a hobbie?

both. its the name and its a Hobie brand tournament so must have one to join.

How did you attach the PVC to steer the Torqeedo? I’d like to do something similar to our Crescent Crew
@FinFactoryCaptMike8 ай бұрын
We carry a shackle kit at the shop that fits directly to a 1 inch PVC. Along with that we make the horn extender that bolts directly on for a longer throw on the stearing.

My Outback leaks like a sieve! I'm guessing it's a scuffer after watching this video..

Same thing happened to my 2022 Outback, cracks at the same area but on both scupper area. Almost sunk in the middle an inlet. Only used it a few times and can’t understand how this happened to such an expensive kayak.

Nice catch and great people!!! Got mad respect for Mike and the wife. I first met him at the San Antonio store when my wife got head butted by this crazy dog. Mike was not a happy camper, then the Mrs. Morales saved my week long birthday trip with those fins. She even said for the money we spent they would do the install on two hobie drives. Not to mention she didn’t stop there. She went and got the tools for Mike to do a tuneup. The Master tuned our drives!!! My wife can’t tell the difference in a new oil change but she sure does love that drive after Mike touched it 🎉🎉🎉.

How does it compare to the hobie outback?
@killough710103 ай бұрын
I just picked one up and I'm very impressed with it. I would say it's Hobie Outback on water performance it cruises at 4 mph and can reach a top speed/ sprint speed of 6 mph. I'm 61 192 to 195 and in the highest position I do not feel it's Tippy at all so if you're around my size or under your on water performance will be similar or better than my experience.

When you push one pedal forward do the fins lay flat against the bottom of the hull like a Hobie does?

Nice vid! I’m doing the exact same installation on my new Compass. Drilling holes is always kinda scary. One question, the manual says to drill a 1 3/8” hole, not 1 1/2”. Have you tried the 1 3/8 “ approach and found it too tight?

Hobie knows they have a problem, but won't fix it.
@nikushim6665 Жыл бұрын
The scupper crack seems to be a common issue with the the 21's and 22's. Not just with Outback, seen people have the exact same problem with PA's as well. I don't really think its a car top strap problem, people have had the issue using yak trailers. Hobie seems to think its a cart issue, at least they use that as a excuse to avoid warranty claims (if said person didn't have a hobie brand cart.)
@johnguth537610 ай бұрын
I still can't see any justification for Hobie's inflated prices!!
@nikushim666510 ай бұрын
@@johnguth5376 They have been getting worse every year. Think the kayaks are bad look at the insane pricing they have on accessories and replacement parts..... 200 bucks for a 20 dollar square hatch for example. Really they are just trying to milk as much as they can out of the Mirage patents before they all expire.
@nikushim6665 Жыл бұрын
"triple shot is different" It's not even compatible with the default kit. You got to order a adapter plate, which i honestly wouldn't recommend a triple shot on Compass, the adapter plate provides zero protection. Unlike the retractable guardian plates on the outbacks or PA's. Edit - Also forgot to point out that hobie recommends installing the Transducer cable port on the firewall not the floor under the seat at the scupper (Its stated in the manual). They used to have a spot molded in for it under the seat with the old design (old mount plugs were also a lot tougher then the new ones), but placing there with the new design can cause stress issues from flexing.

Not to be redundant with my questions but….is there a better made boat value? I was going to buy one this summer. How can I avoid theses cracks coming about and the unsealed screws that may soak up moisture. Specifically, what would you do, buy another brand or modify and take steps to avoid cracks. I’m rough on things.
