Great video! I like that you didn’t do a walk thru of the boat per se, but did a wonderful job of getting shots from on the boat, from your buddy’s boat and even aerial! All around great video and nice review. Thanks Much! Hopefully you’ve done one for the Hobie Angler pro 12. I’m looking into that boat as well.

You sold me, been on the fence about getting a couple of these. Now to sell some of the fleet to make room. Great video man.

Some people say "it's a wet ride", I say "fish from shore, while you get your nails done." Too noisy? Wear earplugs? Lol. It's a great "kayak" all around.

Excellent review Mike, certainly an interesting craft. Certainly seems to be getting some attention as a shallow water redfish boat. Still waiting for the thermoformed PA!

I know the feeling of that little chuckle while you were carrying it in one arm to the water. I just got mine a week abo and after using the OldTown 120 Auto Pilot... My first launch was dream like especially in this heat.

I love the Lynx for lakes and dropping quick in a creek, river, or ponds. I won’t be swapping my Jackson Coosa FD with the flex drive e. I’m probably going to add one to the fleet.

It reminds me of the love child between a paddle board and a kayak. I noticed on the Hobie website that this is capable of having a fish/depth finder installed with the transducer/battery mounted in a compartment under the seat.

Whoa, great review Mike. Appreciate your analysis with the "opportunities" & "highlights" perspective. I fish mostly still waters, but will do rivers often. The drift might be an opportunity for me. Does that mean engaging having to engage the mirage drive to offset the drift???
@FinFactoryCaptMike3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. Yes engaging the Mirage drive to offset drift speed would be right on point.

any issues with tangling fly line on the Hobie drive? The old BIC AceTec paddleboards used to make the same noise.

Test rode one at ICAST. In my opinion It may handle easy, and be lightweight, but If your running to fast and turn suddenly it can turtle. Crossing the ICW or any place for that matter with whitecaps can be sketchy. Finally consider how will it perform when pulling a stringer of heavy fish alongside of it?
@Fishingbayarea3 жыл бұрын
can that thing mount a bow mount trolling motor?

I think I would like one of these too as a second for sport use but not fishing like my Predator

Great review! I fish a PA12 in big lakes in GA and bays in FL…and I’ve been in large whitecaps from storms and boats. My concern with the Lynx is being able to handle that. The PA12 does it with flying colors. I’m 70 and fish alone and need a stable boat. Any comments? Thanks.
@ngocpham81292 жыл бұрын
your 70 i think the pro angler is the most stable kayak out there and would be the easiest to get back in from the rear if you ever fall over.. the weight difference and buoyancy between the two PA is definitely more stable
@stevehogan88292 жыл бұрын
Because there is nelatively no side wall, I see getting back in/on the Lynx to be much easier than say any of the Oldtown's or other hobies. Take a look @ Navarre Kayak.

I am 67 and fished out of the PA14 for 7 years, when I got the Lynx and took it out the first time, I was blown away by how smooth and handling off the Lynx was and loading and unloading was a dream compared to what I was used to with the Pro 14, I find myself using the Lynx 10 times more than the Pro 14 and the lynx handles 15 -20 Mph wind very good, you can't sink the Lynx, no matter how bad the weather is, I am already thinking of selling my Pro 14, because of the weight and hassle of taking the Pro 14 out for a day, and all the gear that I carried on my 14, I never used 3/4 of it, it like buying a bigger house to put more junk in it and when it is full you get more sheds, the lynx keeps you limited to only what you need to fish and that's what I love about it.

Noise? The captain on a Perch charter would fire up the engine to stir of the fish. Noise is not a factor

Mike, which would you preferred between lynx and compass?
@FinFactoryCaptMike Жыл бұрын
I really like them both but I lean hard on the Lynx for fishing the bay on mild weathered days and I have a minimal load. If im guiding its a boat I like to put my customers on because of the simplicity of it. The compass is my Go-too for rougher waters and my favorite boat when fishing offshore. Its fast, dry, and very dependable in the surf.

@FinFactoryCaptMike3 жыл бұрын
It could be but I can say that busting through surf and breakers would be a challenge for this ultra light board.
@stevehogan88292 жыл бұрын
From what I'm seeing, that would be a bad assumption. Have watched several other channels launch from the beach. Pensacola, Navarre, locations.
@djrtime1398 Жыл бұрын
Think about it, it’s closely mimics a surf board, and where do they take surf boards??? Into the most gnarley waves out there. Just keep your gear secured to not wash off the deck.

@FinFactoryCaptMike3 жыл бұрын
The Outback is definitely one of my favorite platforms, it the ultimate all around platforms surf to flat. The Lynx being half the weight is a different kind of badass though.
