Thank you for sharing! I definitely have less bubbles using the Padico brand vs other resins. I just learned a really cool trick to help with the super tiny micro bubbles that don't like to surface. I use 91% isopropyl alcohol, or higher, in a fine mist spritzing bottle to give it a quick squirt! So this from a distance so you only get the bare minimum of super fine alcohol drops on the piece and it will eliminate those tiny micro bubbles!
@KeepsakerSupplies3 ай бұрын
That's a wonderful tip! I was always worried about it marring the surface somehow but I'll definitely give it a go. I love Padico too by the way, need to restock ASAP! Nikki
@KristieAlbers3 ай бұрын
@@KeepsakerSupplies same here! But I found out that as long as you use the higher % and just a fine mist from a distance it won't mess with your resin and it's consistency.

How long do these pieces last for you? I’m really interested in finding out, as I’ve started making memorials from uv resin as well but I’m fairly new to it!
@KeepsakerSupplies6 ай бұрын
Hi Mindy, it depends on how well the client looks after it and the care instructions you provide. Have you seen my free ashes jewellery making course on Keepsaker Supplies? Thanks, Nikki
@hazelblair66347 ай бұрын
that is a ridiculously small amount of ashes you put in.
@KeepsakerSupplies6 ай бұрын
Hi Hazel, it's hard for me to detect tone on comments on the internet, especially as an autistic person, but I will try hard to address your comment with respect. A human adult after cremation will be perhaps one litre of cremation ashes; if someone wanted to keep a large volume of ashes they can choose an urn. If they want to keep their loved one close in jewellery, then I don't think it matters how much is in there, so long as the correct ashes are in there. If you use too much ash then the resin pieces don't have enough resin and can be brittle, and the colour would not be the same. I hope that helps. Nikki

Cute but when dealing with human ashes shouldn’t you were gloves?
@KeepsakerSupplies7 ай бұрын
I totally understand your question and think it deserves addressing. I always wear at least a dust mask, plus if I'm grinding ashes I wear a respirator. However, cremation ashes are sterile and perfectly safe to handle. People get tattoos with the ashes inside and personally I'm comfortable touching them. I find that I have more control, more dexterity and do a better job without gloves. I only wear them when absolutely necessary and I know I can get the effects I like. Please wear gloves and get good at it but if you feel you need to touch the piece don't be afraid to. There's also the spiritual connection of being able to care for the deceased in a compassionate way, especially if they were in hospital before they passed and didn't get a human's touch without gloves. Hope this doesn't sound strange, but I feel strongly connected to my work and it brings me a lot of honour. Thanks Nikki
