I would have watched this live. And it was as renowned then as it is now. But it's so pedestrian in comparison to current shows.

Wow, comparing Frank Sinatra to Woody Allen? Sure there was a massive age difference BUT Mia was a legal adult, and Frank had NOT been her stepfather for twelve years!

As a huge latter-day Beatles fan, I got sick of the endless applauding, lauding & awarding in my teens. I love their albums but I'm lucky to have been entertained & edified by much better, more "important" music in my life. I am intrigued by the Get Back film. Any documentary showing the rehearsal stage of production is fascinating to me.

I'd seen clips from this episode, but I hadn't realised that Piers started attacking the rest of the panel almost immediately. Talk about showing up to a battle of wits unarmed...

Thank you for posting. 25 years ago tonight I met Paul Merton in a pub in London (it was Halloween '99) and I just read my trip diary from that day and I mentioned I'd seen "a local chef in London called Gordon Ramsay" on the HIGHFY that had just been on a few days earlier).

Angus Deyton has always been missed by myself, I thought he was a superb presenter and very witty..such a shame he was treated so badly at his so called downfall by two individuals who should have known better than behave in such a cowardly way towards him..

Honestly, Angus was by far the best at that job. Not his jokes, but his delivery was perfect. Years of guest hosts who couldn't do it later, surely thry realised their judgemental mistake.
