"..and the lack of pilgrims". Well said Rolf as I think many of us can understand this comment. Many of us are hikers at heart and the Frances is more like a hike through Benidorm but with less sand. Understanding Camino ways your videos are factual and perfect without the usual self promoting nonsense.

If someone wanted to walk the Camino de Santiago on the Via de la Plata alone, what advice would you give them for the trip?
@rolfscaminos18 күн бұрын
Do it! It is amazing Camino.I always walk alone. The key is to stay in Albergues as you will meet other pilgrims. I personally don't like walking with others but do like meeting up with others along the way. You will meet people along the way... and will always run into them either in the evening at the Albergue or a few days later along the way. Be sure to carry snacks and rxtra wazer and maybe a Bocadillo for lunch on the days with no services... there are a few. Buen Camino!

Hi Rolf. What was temperature in the morning? Did you went trough Pyrenees? In which part best to using hiking shoes? Sneakers part? Sandals part ?
@rolfscaminos19 күн бұрын
I can't really remember, which means that it wasn't cold. The first day is over you go over the Pyrenees. For the Frances you basically just need Trail runners and some flip flops for the showers etc. I eould not recommend saddles as you probably would get stones into them . I use Nike Trail. My site has a chat bot that can answer most any Camino question. www.rolfscaminos.com

Sorry, in the beginning those boots you were wearing looked incredibly uncomfortable and restrictive. Second pair much more comfortable.
@rolfscaminos22 күн бұрын
They are actually very comfortable...and not restrictive at all. But on the Norte's endless asphalt the trail runners are definitely better. I was very glad to have them with once I bent off to the Primitivo as I got tired of all the asphalt....
@jenniferbrown607825 күн бұрын
I too was dismayed when I exited the Norte to the Francais. There are alternate ways into Santiago, and I would urge everyone to research the options. I have so enjoyed these episodes with Ellie and Since, recognized much of the route, and learned about the 300 mile stretch in the middle, which I will walk in 2025. Lovely couple.

Hola Rolf's. Me puedes decir la cámara que te está filmando y que va girando a medida que avanzas? Que marca es? Me ha encantado. También llevo 15 Caminos y me suscrito a tus vídeos. Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷

Hola Eduardo. Buen Camino.

Absolutely brilliant Rolfe. You have sold it to me, the information and your dialogue is very good. Am 80 next year so will need to get some mileage training in. I have trekking experience having done Everest Base Camp three times but can no longer get insurance for Nepal, so the Camino is very tempting. Thank you for all the info.

Fabulous stuff, thank you! Did you think when crossing that bridge into Ribadeo what that must be like if you have vertigo? I crossed it the whole way hodling onto the fence by the road, walking sideways, hiperventilating all the way, and the amount of tears I shed after, and the weeks after from time to time, well... the most traumatic experience of my life. Next time I take a taxi! Anybody else with vertigo ever crossed that bridge?

Thank you! The bridge was pretty impressive... luckily I don't suffer from vertigo.

I wish someone recommended the Portuguese Way higher. I loved the French Way but Portugal was something extra. I guess it had what the French Way had before it got commercialised. I walked in August this year, absolutely roasting but dry and it was a really nice route.
