Yep i finally went on tretinoin too after going from the strongest percentage of tretinoin and antibiotics to tazoratene + clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide combined with benzoyl peroxide face wash. before my dermatologist was like ok we exhausted all possibilities options and to do accutane

You’re so lucky! You’re before. Looks nothing like when I’m dealing with. I just recently started my second month. I feel so defeated right now, because all other treatments have failed. The first month my skin purged so bad. I’m trying so hard to keep the faith, that will work. But compared to before, my acne disease is 10 out of 10 awful. Congratulations on your results. You look fantastic.

Exceptional video Karima! Very relatable and down to earth! Love seeing an Aussie telling it like it is! I start next week on 10mg and this has given me some pause and relief. Thanks for science dump too!

Unfortunately I agree the Stila dried out on me too fast. I've had the Wet N Wild Catsuit getting hit or miss with drying out too. My Butter London pot shadows didn't last either. I was not as in love with the Tattoo pot shadows as you were. Meanwhile my MAC paint pots are older than all the rest and still performing perfectly.

I am so thankful for your videos on this topic. I have the same pattern of breakouts as you, so it was very relatable. Especially the neck acne! I’m beginning my low dose isotretinoin treatment next month. I have a lot of hope in it. Thanks again!

For majority of adults isotretinoin will not "cure" acne permanently. Relapse is almost inevitable , thou acne might be less severe. Life time treatment with low dose is the only way to retain the results.

Karima, I have watched all three of your videos (a few too many times tbh haha) and they have helped me so much! Dealing with acne as an adult is so difficult and it has been kind of inspirational for me to follow your journey and feel better about struggling with self-worth and image over something we can't control. Your videos certainly help me to see the light at the end of the accutane tunnel when I am feeling frustrated and down so bravo and thank you!

I remember watching your Accutane series back in the day and I knew I have to come back to it now. My story seems so similar, just with a few years of delay. 🤡 I went off of my birth control and it has been almost 3 years since, I‘m struggling with acne for over 2 years now and I finally came to the point where my dermatologist suggested Accutane. I‘m scared, but less so now that I watched your video again. I don‘t know what I will decide yet, I have to do much more research for me, but I really appreciate that you created this content and that it‘s still there. Thank you! ✨

I’m from the Philippines, and unfortunately, acne seems to run in my family. My siblings and I all experienced breakouts, especially during our teenage years. For me, acne wasn’t just a physical issue-it deeply affected my confidence and the way I interacted with others, particularly throughout my junior and senior high school years. It became one of the reasons I chose not to go to college. Instead, I started working to save money and invest in skincare. It was during this time, in August 2020, that I discovered Accutane. I had severe breakouts before starting the medication, but within just a week of taking it, my pimples vanished. It was unbelievable. My skin, though a little dry-especially my lips, which cracked quite often-felt clearer than ever before. I no longer woke up dreading the sight of new pimples, and my pores even appeared smaller. For the first time in years, I felt confident in my skin. The only downside was the scars. After six years of severe acne, I was left with scars that were tough to ignore, but still, it was a relief to be free from the daily stress of new breakouts. Funny enough, people even started complimenting my nose, asking if I had surgery-something I’d seen others mention in Accutane reviews online. No, I didn’t have any surgery; it was just another unexpected benefit! After a year, though, I stopped taking Accutane because I was worried about the potential long-term side effects. During that year, despite the occasional headaches and one instance of a nosebleed, my skin was clear, and I felt on top of the world. But after I stopped, I noticed that I developed allergies to certain foods, like squid, shrimp, chicken, and beef, especially if I ate too much of them. Strangely, that’s when I started to connect the dots. Three months after stopping Accutane, my acne started to return, though not as severe. I began using tretinoin, which helped manage the occasional pimples, but recently, when I stopped using it, the breakouts came back with a vengeance. It felt like I was right back where I started-frustrated and contemplating whether to return to Accutane. Here’s the thing: life doesn’t always go the way we plan. The lessons I’ve learned from my skin journey are about more than just acne. It’s about self-acceptance and realizing that nothing-whether it’s perfect skin or anything else-lasts forever. The best advice I can give is to love yourself just as you are. Be content with what you have, and know that your worth goes far beyond physical appearance. Real beauty comes from within, from how you treat others and the respect you show yourself. Accutane may have given me clear skin, but it also taught me that true confidence doesn’t come from a flawless face. So, as tempting as it is, I’ve decided not to go back to it. I’ll continue to care for my skin, but I’ll also remind myself that I’m more than my acne. If you’ve read this far, thank you. Your time means the world to me, and I hope you can take something from my experience. Wherever you are in the world, remember this: You are worth it.❤️ Please leave a reply, including where you’re from, the time, and the date. It’ll be a reminder that I’m not alone in this journey. Hi, Karina! S-o-o-o-o-o late to the game, but am loving your tutorials, humor, energy. Question: are you still making the tutorials and, if so, can you make updates on one and done shadows? Many of what we’re referred to 3yrs ago are no longer available (duh)! Would love more current info on the one and done shadows , especially! Hoping you see this and thank you!

Hi Karima, you said you were preparing a sunscreen video, so I had to write you. I own and have often used the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen and I like it but there is an even better one. It is also Korean, rest assured it has gone through the "double testing for UVA and UVB rating verification following the Korean sunscreen scandal, it is made by a company called GOODAL and is called "GOODAL CALMING SUNCREAM". It's a little cheaper than Joseon, smells like air (no smell at all), does not irritate my skin or eyes at all, it is just like a beautiful elegant very light moisturizer. Here's why I prefer it over Joseon, it is a touch less "glossy"... it is much closer to a non detectable satin finish, and that is the finish I prefer. I think sometimes the content creators on You Tube slightly lose touch with reality when reviewing sunscreens. They will often describe a sunscreens finish as "glowy" or "luminous" and they go on and on about how "beautiful" that finish is. Those of us functioning in the real work world would be a laughing stock if we showed up to work with those sunscreens on. You Tubers will call a finish "glowy or "luminous" when 99% of average people would call it "oily" , "shiny" or "greasy". Bosses in professional work settings would not take kindly to an employee looking like that. I work in an office that has floor to ceiling windows, I NEED to wear sunscreen, UVA rays completely penetrate glass and I want to fight against that sun damage, but I can't be having my co workers saying, "What the hell has she got on her face?" I have yet to find the perfect undetectable sunscreen but by God they are getting better and better. Thank God for Korean sunscreens, ours here in America are absolutely horrible! NO ONE on You Tube is talking about GOODAL CALMING SUNCREAM and I'm so very afraid that if someone doesn't start talking about it I'm going to go online one day to place my usual 3 tube order and it's going to be discontinued. It's cheaper than Joseon and even closer to the perfect "invisible" finish we all dream of. Please please please try it and please please please mention it in your video. It is hands down the best one out there. I've watched you for years and just love you, you're the best! Thank you, Catherine.
