Les Paul sounds like a Strat after it has grown up to adulthood.

I went with the Katana because i found it half price used and it's a great speaker for amp and cab sims since it has a poweramp in port. I personally would not be caught using the actual amp tones on either of these units for the really high gain stuff I play.

I believe you learn to love whatever guitar you have. You also learn how to get the most of it. I had a Fender Telecaster I loved it even though it took time to love it and get the most of it. Same thing with Les paul which I have now. I believe you can learn to love and get the most of whatever instrument you have. A good build instrument is a good build instrument. The most important is to play the instrument in and learn how to eq it, and use the tone and volume knob. Guitar is a guitar. I most say I like personally Les Paul more just because my hands hurt less than on a Telecaster. Because of the bigger scale lenght on a tele my wrist and fingers get beaten up after playing alot. Not so much on a Les Paul.

You can get those Orange tones out of the Katana

I have a Katana 50 and I freakin' love it, but the Blackstar surprised me. It's almost as good as the Katana. The difference is that Katana wins in every setting. Maaan. I'm so happy I found that deal on the Katana. It was a guy that worked at a music shop that bought one and didn't use it, so he sold for 70% of the online price. This amp gave me so much joy live, man.

owned lots of marshalls, but the Origin 20 is my all time fav! Yea not as raw as some but for classic tones with modern finesse it rules imo!

I don't believe both the Super Crush and the CR 120 have 'Quiet Before 10 O'Clock' Gain structures. But the Super Crush isn't quite as bad as the 120. It's more like the Terror Stamp.

I have both, they go together like Peanut butter and Jelly.

That's a pointless comparison, because the Katana has its own purpose. Also, it can do waaay more that what was shown here. It's the perfect amp for who get bored of a certain tone. If you don't wanna sound blues anymore, change it to something more rock or metal. Orange is great (really), but it can't do that.

Marshall obviously sounded best. The Orange and Vox close 2nds. Fender sounded like shit
@heavyelvizz8 күн бұрын
I would say, for clean, all four does the thing...when it comes to Overdrive it depends more on which sound you like, but the Fender is unusable in my Opinion. I've got the Vox, played the Marshall and also the Fender and Orange a few years ago. For me the MG's always sounded too "clean washed"...no bite in it - and yes, the newer models are better for that. The Orangesound....don't know, it's not my taste of Guitar Amps. The Vox was love on first play. I'm still using it...since more than 10 Years and still being happy with it...but after Playing 16 Years, I own Amps, that are just my thing, like Hughes & Kettner Statesman Dual EL34, Marshall DSL40cr, Fame T64rs, E-Wave DG5H, Epiphone Valve Junior and so on... But every time a student of mine ask me, which amp he/she should buy as first Amp, I tell them...try the Vox Pathfinder 10, in my opinion the best Choice for Price, followed by the MG's...and if you can afford more, try Tube Amps like Marshal DSL1 or 5 (or the 40cr I'm so in love with)...or the Kong Tube 5 (its nearly the same like the DG5H I own) and so on. Only real con's at the Vox Pathfinder: No Footswitch, The Volume difference between clean and drive is Big and while the Treble is fine on Clean, you really have to turn it back for drive...if not, it sounds really harsh.

True solid state doesn’t have a processing chip for effects and modulation. I don’t think any one makes solid state amps like a Peavey Bandit anymore. Modelers usually have crappy speakers.
@chrisbryant83179 күн бұрын
It's a nice vid. But, you're not going to buy this amp if you're not into metal, there are a lot of other amps better suited for non-metal. This is an amp essentially for metal-heads and is best demonstrated by someone who can play metal.
