I’ve owned one of these for years. It’s a great amp for clean sounds. The dirty channel is a bit limited but the FX loop makes the amp very versatile.

@@pramesh.gurungIt's perfect for as a pedal platform, as it's an all analog SS amp, with an excellent clean channel. Just to clear up some misinformation: An FX loop does not nessisarily mean it's "made for pedals". The purpose of a loop is to isolate certain types of effects (time based, modulation etc.) , by insering them between the preamp and poweramp section. If you're using dirt pedals, off a clean sound, an fx loop is not entirely needed. Most famous guitar effects were not isolated from a singal chain. It's also not a great thing to put your distortion or OD in the loop. I know people do, but that's not how they're intended to be used. It will sound worse, unless it's a preamp pedal. It's also counterintuitive because you want FX in a loop to be isolated from the dirt. That's the point. Again, lol Yes, it is!

I bought one of these for a practice amp. Been gigging forever with a 65 Blackface re-issue Twin Reverb. About 3 years ago I took the Orange Crush to a gig and stuck a mic in front of it. I haven't used the Fender since then. It works brilliantly - I turn it up to about half (I only use the clean channel) and stick my pedal board in front of it (comp, overdrive, distortion, chorus delay, tremelo and booster) and it gets every sound I've ever needed to play 4 hrs of cover songs a night. I use in ears so I have no trouble hearing it onstage over the drums and running thru the PA it will work in any bar or hall we might play in. Light and reliable with excellent sound. Sometimes I think "maybe I should try a Blues Jnr or even a Deluxe Reverb but then I think "well - they're not REALLY gonna sound any better."..different maybe but better? That's all subjective - plus it's not as if the audience will know the difference. No. 1 feature for me is the sound, followed by the simplicity, followed by the reliabilty and robustness of solid state, and finally the WEIGHT.

Did you notice how the sound flattened out when he turned the Gain knob a little below '11 O'Clock?' That's because between 7 and 11 O'clock it has a dull, flat sound, then suddenly you get Crunch. t's cheap, shoddy workmanship.

@@karikurifoxkkf3626 I've seen reviews where the same thing happens with the sound run through the Line Out, though. There's also another where the reviewer says that below a certain point the sound "just isn't there." Besides, micing the amp shouldn't make that kind of a difference where the sound completely _cuts out_ when the Gain is set below 10 o'clock. It doesn't get softer, it gets _quieter._ I would post a link, but then my comment would be deleted.

First off, great demo. It's so refreshing to watch a demo like this and not have to sit through a bunch of blues riffs and biased opinions still wondering what the thing sounds like. I mean, pretty much anything with reverb sounds great for playing boomer blues if you're a good player. You don't really hear if something has a crap dirty tone until you hear some big open chords. Highway to hell is the GOAT tune to see if amp tone is shit. Second, I think you could argue that this is definitely in the running for best amps under $300. I feel like the Katana has it beat for versatility, but this is a higher quality build. I would take the Katana on it's own, but this is a better pedal platform. I think the Positive Grid Spark mini has them both beat as a practice amp with the battery thing and learning tools, but neither the spark mini or Spark 30 is loud enough to keep up with a drummer on their own. They are absolutely practice amps unless you put them into a powered cab or a PA. Lastly, I saw a REALLY good professional cover band guitarist use 2 of these amps in stereo, and when he used a chorus effect with his pedal board to cover Tears for Fears, it sounded every bit as good as a $1200 Roland JC-120. In fact, I'd actually say it sounded better, simply because the amps were on separate sides of the stage. He had a mic in front of them, and you can do that with a PA, but the two amps on both sides of the stage just had a different sound in a small club. They played some U2 and Police covers that sounded absolutely killer with that set up as well.

I saw a 70's and 80's new wave cover band, and the guitarist was using 2 of these in stereo. He sounded amazing. The only time I heard him use any gain was when the played a Cars tune though, and it still was low gain. Unless you want high gain tones, I don't see the value in spending the extra money on the Rocker.

I think it depends on how loud the drummer is. I used to play with a Line 6 30W amp back in the day with a drummer who played at a normal volume and it was fine. But I’ve also seen some drummers who will take your head off when they hit the snare drum, with that you might want the crush 60 👍

@TobysGuitarGearDemos Жыл бұрын
It is for plugging in FX pedals after the preamp of the amp. It's main use is so you can put reverbs and delays after amp distortion. So for instance if you plug your guitar into a reverb pedal then into the front input on the amp and have the amp setup for rock distortion the reverb will sound bad as the amp will distort not only your guitar but also the reverb. If you put the reverb in the FX loop it will be after the distortion so will sound much more hifi and true to the pedal 👍
