I dont think this is a hot take, but I *am* glad they added it. Arcsys needed to shake up Guilty Gear with an update to their game thats been out for years. It was cool, it was fun, but it made the game worse. At least we and they know going forward Guilty Gear doesnt need a system mechanic like this.

All the balance issues even aside, this mechanic is straight up boring as hell as it streamlined the already streamlined Strive cast even more. It's annoying to fight against and also boring to see when spectating. Even though I wasn't the biggest fan of Strive since even 2019, it's this mechanic that made me finally leave the game behind for good.

I cant please everyone. I will try to respond to comments more often but I do read all comments. A lot of comments have the same msg so if I respond to one then I figured that's me universally answering everything. There is a time where I will run out of characters to post about or too long of a grace period in between patches. The goal is to improve my content and get to the point where people will watch my videos for just me. If I stay in one area for too long it gets warned out and people will start to think I'm repetitive. I'm sorry if you don't like the change in direction. Ofc Character videos are still coming but I to grow I need to attract different audiences as well. Its not a matter of upping clicks or money. I just love discussion and want to hear everyone's opinions regardless of the topic in GGST. Sorry you feel this way and hope to see u in another YT comment section on a future vid.

I understand your motivations and totally respect the grind, but as somebody who subbed for the older vids it was alarming to see 3/4 videos trend a certain direction. I think Wild Assault is a decent _idea._ I understand ASW's rationale in putting it into the game. Without WA you are sitting on Burst until you use it or it refills completely. You can also take Burst away from your opponent with it. There's also how different characters benefit differently from Burst, e.g. Burst is amazing for Asuka, Sol doesn't need the resource as much because he has a meterless reversal, et c. On that line i can understand introducing different variants of WA, but on various levels it's a bad idea to introduce variants into something that's intended to be universal. You can see it in Strive where Red WA is clearly the best one, whereas White and Blue are inconsistent in their effects. White specifically has been changed entirely because of a single character, which is... Yeah. I think at this point WWA should just be removed from the game; not only does it make no sense to have a variant to a universal mechanic for 10% of the cast, it was a horrible idea to do that in order to balance characters. None of them need it anymore so in the end, using it to do that didn't even work. And frankly? WWA is completely unfun, and it feels unfair that those characters just get reversals from universal mechanics while others don't (all of 3 of them have high health and reversal supers too like, c'mon).

love the discussion!! although wouldve loved a segment on how to fix it or even be something completely different. Maybe something along the lines of a more passive blazblue overdrive mechanic where people get a character-specific passive buff draining their burst, but is impactful enough to risk use over burst.

Personally, I like the addition of WA than not. Definitely not going to deny the problems it initially had, and while I think it's improved since then, it still needs a few more tweaks.

WHOAx3! that title is super triggering. had strive not added WA this game would be dead. the meter economy was atrocious the first 3 years. You had stripped gatlings and airdash startup, so the only way you were doing any combos/pressuring/mixing up was with tension(unless you were Sol, Nago, HC,or Leo). the problem was everything cost 50% and you were basically doing a whole lot of stray hits until you got that 50%. this made the using the meter creatively very boring, cuz if you spent it and didnt break the wall you were stuck having to stray hit stalling for time until you got another 50%.(i like not having to spend tension to do cool combos, thats proly why the later characters had another resource before WA was added I.E.,goldlewis, nago, jack-o,Sin, A.B.A,HC, etc. ) it reminds me of the meta of fighterz where at a high level players would just jump 30 times back and forth while calling assist and occasionally z dashing. my only criticism of wild assault is the fact theres 3 versions. it'd be better if the entire cast all had 1 type, either everyone gets blue or everyone gets orange but you overhaul the entire game around it because you cant just Do It without "certain characters" breaking the game. HC would be a tumor with Orange WA

@@pancakes7483 Blitz is a defensive mechanic, like a parry. Even though the can be used to drain the opponent's burst a bit, that almost only sees use in stun combos to finish off the round. It CAN be used in combos, but it's very situational and different to wild assault. I can see why you would think it's based on it just by looking at the animation, but they're not the same.

His 3F normal to hard knockdown is 5K which is really bad on whiff and not hit confirmable (it was still really good). His 2P self gatlings but only confirms to bandit revolver, which is a soft knockdown.

38:00 Lowkey vault is kinda fine. Just slow down the fastest card so it doesn't smoke 6P as easily and you can let it cook. But he really needs health nerfs. From his current ~590 to more reasonable 550 similar to Baiken. He can be strong midrange mixup character but he shouldn't endure for mashing, back-dashing, and playing like an idiot until he gets super LOL

I have no issues with Johnny being strong conceptually for a few reasons. 1)he was popular and strong in xrd. 2)as a dlc he came out as a weaker character than expected just like what happened with Sin. Both are in their redemption arc and now testament is also seeing some shine and perhaps dizzy will also see some buffs to get her out of the “bottom”. It’s amazing how easily they seem to be able to buff a character into the top 8 or send a character into the bottom 8. Yet can’t find the right balance to “fix” zato and make him worth the trouble lol

I think Johnnny only needs 2 changes: - His defense should be a bit lower - He should get back Mist Finer levels, but have it so that by default he has lv1, but if he delays his Mist Finer by 0.5 or 1 second, he gets lv2 or 3. Lv2 is the same as what he has now, Lv1 does not knock back and keeps the enemy standing, plus does the least damage. Lv3 can wallbounce and does great damage. I think this would discourage spamming fullscreen MF's and encourage juking opponents and delaying your MF. He could still get instant overheads with card, but without it his offense would be a tad more reasonable. Heck, I'd be fine with other buffs to compensate for this.

After the patch I left Axl after years of playing him, and there was sooo many johnnys now so I dipped on him too but Sin was my fist DLC purchase and for some reason I never played him but since the patch I picked him up and he’s so strong against so much of the cast and he’s so fun literally feels like he’s on a constant upward trajectory ! Calling Happy Chaos a top tier is a stretch. While he's still capable of denying gameplay to his opponent, many other characters are as well, and unlike those characters (Ram/Gold Lewis/May), he leaves you a lot more chances to escape on top of the risk/reward not being as scewed in his favor. Also, what you have to do with Happy Chaos is a lot more straining on the player. Not only do you have to put in waaaaaaaay more hours on HC than every other character (besides Asuka and Zato who are on a similar lvl, if not even harder), you also gain waaaaaaay less milage out of him. Difficult characters are supposed to be good, but as it stands, why should I invest the time into this character if I can pick someone else and preform better in way less of a time investment? If you lose to HC in his current state, you either have a terrible matchup against him, or the HC is just str8 up better then you period. Too many ppl have been traumatized by season 2 or brainwashed by people traumatized by season 2 to see this character for what he is: simply annoying. I get it, it feels terrible not being able to play the game whlie HC throws 50 mixups at you, but many people don't take into consideration that he has to land 3-4 full combos + 2-3 trades or so to actually win the round x2/3 for the game, while some characters get you with one combo, put you into a similar pressure situation as HC and then kill you if you lose the next mixup (wich is also 10x simpler to pull off). But everybody is still hating on HC, and to those people, I can only recommend you 1 thing. PLAY THE GODDAMN CHARACTER AND SEE HOW PAINFUL IT IS TO PLAY HIM. Additionaly, this video mainly uses clips from season 2 making the entire video not about the current state of HC, it's rather about how broken he was. Thx for reading my Ted... Scrub Talks.

@@DomiWurld well yeah, he is, but he's also meant to be the villan. They desinged him to be a dickhead like Umbrella in Skullgirls (who was literally based on a salt companys logo). On top of that, in thematic sense, he's just perfect, because the philosophy of this character is that he does the most terrible stuff he can think of while knowing he's a lot more powerful then you (in lore), so you strive to improve to beat him. He literally gives the game it's name. I do get the frustartion everyone has with this character, and I don't want to deny anyones opinion on this topic, though I think the entire comunity can agree, that there are many more bigger problems in this game than HC currently. HC is in the perfect spot currently in my opinion, although the clone nerf should have come way earlyer, not now. With all of the garbage other characters can pull off since the season 4 patch, it just kinda felt wierd geting the clone nerfed now.
