Either way u spend way too much money on a device that does half the things u want... I still use my Rift CV1 and i'm really looking forward to upgrading it, but every option out there has a some terrible downsides to me... Every year i keep waiting for a new headset thinking "they're gonna get it right the next time". Well i'm still waiting for THE device...

I know this vid is 11 months old but just for the record as a BSB owner the pancake lenses are total garbage and completely negate any positives about the headset. I hope to god pancakes are not standardized, I can't see them being that way.

Thanks for the info, i had a quests 2 for a month and never liked the dizzynes and the fact that in order to see clearly You have to keep your eyes straight and move all your head like the old batman films in order to see arround. It's incompatible with my way of playing games, i always analize everything arround me then look at the center, and i am always looking away from My character or Center of view, i don't have Any eye problems, i just play looking everywhere even in FPS, so it's horrible to try to see arround and have everything out of focus and just a tiny spect in the middle being focus, i wont use a vr until they find a solution to that narrow focus center

I like the on-platform ads that show off groups because it helps me discover more groups I never would have heard of. I really think the off-platorm ads should go though. I came to VRChat to play VRChat, not leave again. The only exception should be the world creator's content.
@sonvay100623 күн бұрын
I wouldn't really mind seeing ads while in a lobby for waiting for the game to start like in Murder 4 or Among us. Sometimes I actually read them if I have nothing else to do. But the proper way would be similar in the Quick Draw world, where the game master can disable all the ads by a click of a button for everyone. At least, we woud have the ability to turn them off, and even the world creator gets some benefits too, because not everyone would turn the ads off.

You nearly lost me in the first bit; but you honestly do have a valid point. I really don't mind ads being around VRChat as it helps generate new creators to advertise their products. However, the lack of moderation when it comes to them seems like the real matter. Like the fact I've full on seen ads that highlight adult like content in worlds that are meant to be for all ages; it's pretty messed up. The best action forward for VRChat is to probably add on adlilly to their system to help set stricter guidelines on what's allowed on there or not.

I'm quite new to research regarding trackers, and I've been debating about getting slime for awhile but after watching I'm not sure what to do anymore, because according to one of my online friends their friend like 4 months back hated slime and had constant issues. I just want a cheap reliable option that isn't a gamble, and I've seen so many videos of people using slime but I'm never sure if I can trust it.

I'm labeled for shipment 11 and it could be here by November. It was thanks to you that I actually gained motivation to look into trackers again after hearing how much issues have been improved for the official slimes, such as how they now have new straps and cases that are better than before.

My big issue with pancakes is that they glare A lot when a singular point of light is present, even when dimmed down the screen. Due to them needing to be so bring and the way the light bends, atleast in pico 4 there is A LOT of glare coming from the screens themselves.

The magnetic charging to the top is pretty neat, but buying 2 4-way USB-C splitters from aliexpress is a total of 3$. This probably is very expensive add-on for the end price. Also the price for these is criminal. 10 trackers from other slimevr sellers, with LSM or similar-performing chips comes to around 300$ for 10 slimes(e.g. gorbit), 5+3 extensions on occult, compared to 5. (if anyone reads this in 6 months-1 year it will be so outdated) Of course, most people just use 6 most of the time because you don't need elbows unless dancing, and having some on feet just hurts. The straps however are fantastic, I really want those for my own. Magnet-attaching too? Absolutely awesome. Note receiving it for free is being sponsored with owning the product, that's how it gets treated in any other industry, since you don't return it.
@JacobfovАй бұрын
I think it's a little weird that you mention LSMs and then talk about two trackers using BMI270s (At least that's what both of their listings on the marketplace say). I personally don't know too much about LSM's but I've been told they're comparable to BNO085s, whereas BMI270s aren't. I've also heard that LSMs are still experimental so there's that. Really though the main difference to me is the fact that Eros doesn't use a 3D printed case. I will say Occult in specific seems to have a very high print quality, but even the highest quality 3D print can't match the quality of an injection molded part. The tradeoff is injection molding has a high startup cost, which is where I assume most of Eros's higher price per tracker comes from. SlimeVR has the advantage of producing trackers at a much larger scale than anyone else, so that price ends up evening out in the long run. And while I think 3D printing is great, I personally would never spend over 100 dollars on something that's 3D printed. It really just comes down to personal preference. Same with the charging cable situation. A lot of people prefer not to have 3000 different things plugged in on their desk/side table/wherever. Why else would anyone buy something like Mocopi or Axis over any type of Slime tracker other than for convenience and higher build quality. Really I think it's probably better to compare Eros to those two products, especially Axis. Eros has a motor inside of them, and in the future plan to support haptic feedback like Axis does. I just didn't mention that in this video since it isn't a feature yet. In 6+ months Eros will have another revision out. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up using LSMs in a future revision if they prove to be better, but right now there isn't really a ton of data about them. They aren't even listed on the IMU comparison in Slime's docs. Really the great thing about SlimeVR trackers is the amount of options to choose from, and as long as you aren't buying the shitters advertized in VRChat worlds there's really no wrong or bad choice. And for that last part, yeah, that's why the video is marked as a paid promotion and a disclaimer pops up when you start the video. I will say though, there's definitely a difference between being paid to show something off and being sent something to honestly review it. The former usually force you to use an approved script while the latter does not.

Problem I see is that using magnetic connectors means you cannot use the magnetometer for autocalibration/antidrift There are builders that use silicone wires with fully strain relieved.

Diden't really mind the adds... but we also have VRC credits now so people could directly support your content. Back before the credits, I could understand monetizing your world as a way to get money in, but now that users can just directly support you threw VRC Credits (Although I have some issues with that system in general) it feels kinda extra to have ads in your world now...

No. It's not. The only choice now is the Vive XRE or Focus 3 face tracking or Meta. Meaning anyone using NOT one of those headsets would have to buy a whole new headset for a ridiculous amount of money. The face tracker they killed was the only one compatible with the Index as well as many other headsets. It's not "good" they killed it. It's shitty they killed it, it was an intentional way to force people who want that feature into their own ecosystem and get more money. There's nothing good about it. It's anti consumer.

I don't care where the hell they're at. The problem is world creators are being irresponsible with what they're advertising, and when this is brought to their attention they respond with "well, they're paying me so I'm not taking it down". If you're going to be irresponsible when doing something, then you shouldn't have the privilege of doing it.
@BenieTheDragonАй бұрын
Anything that makes VRChat a LOT of money, they'll keep (even if it's against their TOS). This is why these worlds are allowed to do this. It's all about "MONEY".
@JacobfovАй бұрын
This makes VRChat absolutely no money. Ads are not an official VRChat feature, and that's part of the reason things like porn and borderline scam products are being advertized.

I've said to a friend before but all those copycat slimeVR trackers still need to use the slimeVR software, at that point you might as well just go with official slimes since they're a million times more trustworthy and often still cheaper than those copycats. (Not to mention despite trying to sell a product they literally tell you how to DIY them yourself if you wanna save some cash) As for the ads in general, I think they're okay IF they remain non-intrusive. Like the banners in Popcorn Palace are everywhere but they don't get in the way of accessing the video players or the games in the games room and you can even turn them off when you reach any of the video screens to access the settings. If those kinda ads help continue to support people making decent worlds I'm all for it. There should be quality control, of course. After all the platform is filled with children now thanks to Quest making VR more mainstream. The main thing I'm concerned about is when/if ads start actually getting in the way of you playing the game, interacting with key things in worlds, etc. And you know for sure it's a matter of when and not if.
