I am writing my first treatment today and the process feels very daunting. I am very thankful for this tutorial and excited for the e-book!

How do I get an agency? I have been a videographer for two years, I routinely get booked for commercials. I still have a lot of growth to do but I’d like to be represented by an agency.

Great storytelling and a very encouraging message. I ldid laugh as my email popped up on the screen at the 5:25 mark, but I'll still remain hopeful that we collaborate one day :) The part where you touched on the numbers not being important hit home. Prior to leaving behind a large channel and moving on to a new one, I focused on the numbers way too much. I learned having a lot of subs, views, etc..doesn't equal financial success, happiness and all the things most people chase when they begin this journey. Anyhow, I'm glad you are creating and being vulnerable sharing your story, struggles, and advice. You benefit, I benefit and vice-versa... thanks for that.

Loved this kick if inspiration. As someone thats sat on the sidelines for years, this felt utterly personal to me. I'm grateful you shared this. It speaks to me. Its felt pretty lonely. I bought a video camera two years ago and have felt frozen every time it's come to creating. Im an absolute beginner, and, well, ive been waiting, and waiting. And its not that i even want to create for a living. But ive had such an itch to try. And something has just stopped me in my tracks. I think you've given me the nudge i need. And the inspiration. I love your films and ill be sharing far and wide

The reality is, no one cares if you went to film school. It’s all about what you can show. Just like storytelling in film - show, don’t tell. You need to have a showreel to get any kind of interest. You should also have another reliable way of supporting yourself as climbing up the ladder takes a long time.

I have a question... WHEN you should send a treatment? When you are reaching out to a new prospective client, should you send a treatment in the first email to get their attention? Or should you wait until they reply to you and ask for a treatment? *I am reaching out to brands directly and not to agencies, for photography or video services. It's obvious when they contact you, but 90% of the time I am reaching out
@nurniazfilms18 күн бұрын
Usually when it comes to commercial directing we write and send treatments when the agency has picked their shortlist (usually favorite 3 directors) and then we pitch with it to win the job. It takes a lot of effort and ideation to get it right. Since you’re reaching out yourself to see if they’re even interested first I wouldn’t bother to make a full treatment right away. In your case maybe a moodboard and a few notes at most. But even then it takes a lot of effort when you don’t know their marketing plan and strategy. So in the first email I would just send them a your offer and your portfolio and site.

I remember PA-ing for a hair removal wax ad. The lady model was emotionless while it she tears of the waxing paper for about 6 times! That is when I thought that what they do is not just face value. They are real pros.

Had the pleasure of meeting Nur earlier this year in Dubai-such a nice guy, even better than the online version 😂 Thanks for helping me not only learn and develop my creative mind but also for being a personal inspiration. It’s great to see more of the behind-the-scenes details. Definitely a reward for all your hard work. As you mentioned about that video going viral, I’m curious-how has your creative approach changed as you adapt your work to fit this KZbin format? Thanks again!

Yo Felipe! Thanks man, it was a ton of fun to hang out man 🙌 As to your question I haven’t thought about it that much. I think I’ve become more efficient with storytelling so I try to not waste the viewer’s time. With KZbin I try to think of the shortest way to get the idea across without losing the context. That’s something on my mind even when I’m just writing (which was definitely not the case before). So yeah, I think efficiency 🤔

Hey Nur, love the video! Funny timing, I was just writing about how KZbin has changed me for the better, and then I came across your video. I started my KZbin journey about 6 months ago for similar reasons, and it’s wild seeing so many creative people choosing KZbin over client work now. Your ‘KZbin roulette’ analogy really hit home - gotta play to win! I wasn’t taking this KZbin thing too seriously until my last video unexpectedly hit over 4,000 views. Watching your journey really reassures me that I’m on the right path. Thanks for sharing!
