My Uncle and his wife had cause to fly some Long-Haul flights between Sydney and Tokyo, then Tokyo to London Heathrow with JAL aka Japanese Airlines, and back again 3 weeks later. I believe that there flights were okay, a mixture of 777 and Dreamliners, but my uncle had been looking forward to trying some Japanese food and was sadly disappointed when there wasn't really any Japanese cuisine to choose from on the menu and they had to opt for Fish and Chicken (not on the same flight).

Compliments of the season to you Luke and all those precious to you. Another dinkum Aussie from the shoulder (warts and all) flick. Mt takeaway is 1 you must have a very understanding employer, and 2 Qantas' wonderful culture was poisoned decades ago first by Dixon. Then the Irish midget., therefore rebuilding what was once was may prove impossible in our current cultural shifts and political self-interested soft koks, Captain Longe bribery not the least of it. The insidious infiltration of all things Emirates and QATAR are also factors DNATA bought catering and ground services, Qatar playing both sides on various shareholdings and frequent flyers each way bets now with code sharing with Virgin. The average punter through no fault of their own is now the prisoner of the big end of town . Unfortunately, still being involved in lots of areas relating to aviation, happily people not knowing what they don't know are led like lambs to the corporate slaughterhouse.. Your insights honest from your perception are refreshing, sadly not read widely enough. Keep on being a diamond in the rough mate. The truthful perception will always give its own rewards.. Again stay safe and employed (grin) as a sh$t storm is coming worldwide. Drop a heads up if/when approaching Perth ( not when its 44c in the waterbag though) merry Xmas from a cranky old fart
@AussieJetSetter
@AussieJetSetter Ай бұрын
Nicely explained Luke. I found myself in a similar situation back in 2022 when a big storm in Perth meant my overnight flight to Sydney was cancelled due to the terminal loosing power and then I subsequently missed the connecting flight to Wellington. This meant an overnight stop in Sydney. Think it took them nearly 2 months to finalise my reimbursement claim at the Citadines near the airport which I think you also once showed in a previous video and that pretty much maxed up the supposed allowance and that wasn't exactly even at a peak time. With the way prices are going I can really sense people getting caught out of pocket big time in this situation. It's good that they eventually covered it even if they tried to bluff their way to a higher but still not enough amount first. It's really hard to tell though if they wouldn't be so accomodating of those without status or leverage such as a name or channel! Considering Qantas have a Hotels website they should really have a list of hotels or a criteria of what properties that would be considered reasonable to book in the circumstance regardless of price volatility. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year mate!
@LukeCrisp
@LukeCrisp Ай бұрын
@@AussieJetSetter Hey mate! 2 months is ridiculous! Did you put the claim in straight away and was there any back and forth? Hopefully since then they have worked on that area because as mentioned… I had my money back 1 week after claiming. I am going to assume most of the customer contact / claims - is in the Philippines, so even if someone had a name or a channel I’m not sure they would be aware or really care too much… but definitely status would play a part I’d think. Likewise mate! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ✈️ 👍

Nice video mate! Also good to see things are starting to get quite streamlined over at QF in regard to these cancelations which used to be absolute headaches! Also, a heads up, if you booked with AMEX, you'll usually get access to domestic and international travel insurance for free (granted you paid with a rewards amex).
