Hello! Thank you for making this video. I do have a few questions: 1. Which output are you using from your Interface to get the signal to your Quest 3 ? (Line out or Headphone out) 2. Which USB C adapter are you using to plug into the Quest 3? 3. Do the speakers on the Quest 3 disable when you plug into the USB input? Thank you 🙏

Hello, thank you for your message 1: I am using both inputs, as I also used the XLR for the microphone along side the line-in for my guitar. 2: the adapter is a generic usb-c to usb-a adapter 3: yes, they will I have a set of monitor headphones I used at the same time. Hope that helps!

Thank you. Sorry for the confusion… Question 1, I was asking about the Output, not the input. So I assume you are taking the USB output of your interface, and converting it to USB C to plug it into the Q3? Which interface are you using? Thanks again.

Did you try putting the face mask fabric over the microphone? Wouldn't this give a similar effect? Found your video by searching adding a pop filter to quest 3, so my mind was already thinking of adding this to the headset and not user. Maybe the firmware has been updated since then, as passthrough has become much clearer

That audio bug is a nightmare. I really hope they can fix that soon! It’s great if you’re in a group though as normally at least one person will hear the howl of the wolves when you can’t, but if you’re on your own. It’s a sketchy time for sure.

I only ever seem to run into wolves around Tisy, but that might be because I spend a significant amount of my time there 😅

Ive been trying to use a 3.5mm to usbc adapter, to try route audio into the external mic, of quest 3. It should work as per your vid here, but for some reason it just wont change mic. From the default. Its like it knows its there but refuses to switch. Any ideas?

@@Yorickkinda Yea I did try that a few times. Restarted the headset I even built an app to ensure it could detect the external mic. Which it did but it wouldnt switch. It would just keep defaulting to the standard one. Is it still working correctly for you in latest updates etc? I created the app MYX, which is kinda like vrchat. I'm trying to build some stuff for performers basically.

@DaysOfFunder seems to be working fine for me, I tested with my audio interface and was able to confirm everything was running correctly, I wonder if maybe the dongle you have isn’t working with the headset. I found that with my Logic G Pro aux to USB adapter

@@Yorickkinda Hmm ok l. Yes im picking it's the dongle adapter, but I did try with my USB headphones also and same issue there (they have a mic as well) I'll keep trying. Might just need a wiggle or something! :)

I consider isolation to be the same as ‘Alien’ and this to be more along the lines of Aliens, and honestly I am all for it. I genuinely love this game so far and I look forward to seeing how the story progresses

That’s the noice cancellation unfortunately, the best way to resolve that issue is to utilise the new external mic feature in the experimental features. You have to use the USB-C port but you can plug in a dongle and use an external mic/headset

It is possible using the quest 2, yeah - however, plutosphere is no longer a thing and you have to use a service called ‘Shadow Cloud Gaming’

Great tutorial and presentation, I am a nooby to VR but have a much different setup. Machine is HP Z840, dual zeon cpu, 160 GBram, older Nvidea Quadro K6000. Everything updated. Now a serious question, Can i apply most/all of these settings. My VR is HP reverb G2, installed Mixed reality portal, SteamVR, and Open XR tools. So far, I have no in cockpit VR, and fairly certain a bad setting somewhere. This works good in 2D desktop.

That is built into the game, I can’t remember the name of it, but it’s in the UI section, maybe performance monitoring? But yeah - it’s a built in feature. Default binding is CTRL + Pause I believe!

Like I said to my "tinkering buddy" last night: The funny thing with VR is that you're usually messing around with settings/trying to optimize performance more than you're actually flying any planes... :D Side note re resolution settings: I discovered this in IL-2 but I think it's true for DCS as well... When I set my resolution to a higher level in the Oculus App and then leave PD/res alone in the actual game (or in OpenXR Toolkit), capturing the game's monitor window with GF Experience will make my FPS drop quite significantly. It's basically like capturing with FRAPS to an HDD in ye olden days. When I set my resolution to 1.0x in Oculus and then increase resolution with either the toolkit, or in DCS, in-game (PD-slider), starting and running a capture isn't noticeable at all WRT FPS/performance. Even when I set the resolution to a higher value than what I would use with the app's slider. While I have no idea what's going on with that, the results do feel like setting the higher res in the app puts a higher load on my system/GPU for some reason - at least when it comes to capturing. I did do a screen capture in DCS last night - to record the performance overlay on my desktop - while using Res 1.0x in the app and PD 1.3 (i7-14700KF, RTX 4070 Super, 32 GB of DDR4. Q3 connected via cable-link) and there were no noticeable drops in performance while the recording was running.

Unfortunately plutosphere has shut down, but I believe Shadow has a VR cloud system that works basically the same way, although it is a monthly subscription

@kiddes4630 they have varying packages going from £10 to £50 a month, although I would personally look at the ‘boost’ option for £20 a month this is because it has a better CPU and GPU over the £10 a month option.

There is a VR zoom binding in the software that you can bind (I think in the UI settings) I don’t personally use it because I find it really discombobulating

In case you still don’t have a fix, try going to the vrc audio settings and turning the Mic Activation Threshold to either 0-3% max or completely off.
