add to the title that you provide a fix for the microphone. or add a mic to the thumbnail. People who will search for a solution for this problem might not click on the video. And I was tempted not to click on the video, as I assumed that it was probably related to you not being able to stream.

Pop filter foam is very transparent unless compressed, so I doubt it'll make the headset overheat

I highly recommend the antlion wireless Modmic, although no external mics record directly into the Q3 (annoying as hell) I use mine to record all my voice to a PC and then sync it up in post

My mic is extremely quiet in recordings but when i record with OBS and use my mic it sounds completely fine but i can only use my mic in OBS if i am recording steamvr and my mic doesnt work in OBS when casting from oculus what do i do?

Unfortunately since this Meta decided not to give us the option of putting up with plosives or handling it like this, and decided to just cut the microphone volume all the way down so it's quiet to mask the plosives. Which is fine if you're *only* talking, but it's now always gonna be drowned out by any game audio.

Did you try putting the face mask fabric over the microphone? Wouldn't this give a similar effect? Found your video by searching adding a pop filter to quest 3, so my mind was already thinking of adding this to the headset and not user. Maybe the firmware has been updated since then, as passthrough has become much clearer

Yeah, you can do, it just requires you to glue it down if you’re happy doing that.

My mic goes in and out when I'm in multi player games. Meta tells me to factory reset but I'm not able to because i will lose my painting work in one of the apps . I'm so frustrated as I'm still paying for it

Friend experienced this for Christmas 2024. Did you get anywhere? looks like the headset is going to have to be returned. What a pile of crap, pitty that all the dimfluencers never mentioned how incredibly poor this headset is compared to the Q2. One step forward, 20 steps back. I have major lens 'glare' on mine.

The microphone can be a proper arse at times, mine did the same thing at first, but I reset my headset and ensured the microphone was allowed to be used in apps and it worked fine from there. Also, now the headset allows the use of external microphones using the USB-C port, which just makes like a little better. Although that needs to be enabled in the developer settings

I do not know, unfortunately, I think that may be a network issue or a netcode issue with VR Chat

In case you still don’t have a fix, try going to the vrc audio settings and turning the Mic Activation Threshold to either 0-3% max or completely off.

That’s the noice cancellation unfortunately, the best way to resolve that issue is to utilise the new external mic feature in the experimental features. You have to use the USB-C port but you can plug in a dongle and use an external mic/headset

Yeah this happened with the Quest 2 as well, if you’re able to turn down the in-game audio, that helps a bit (especially if you use earbuds) But also, you have to really project your voice to have it cut over the ingame audio. I am personally waiting for dedicated volume sliders on recordings for game audio and mic

Does a disposable mask work?

They do, yes. Although I found that disposable masks can sometimes make a crinkle sound when they’re new which gets picked up over the microphone. However if they’re a little older and worn in, they work just as well as the fabric ones.
