Even though they definitely are not death metal they influenced ALOT of first generation death metal bands. The only exceptions would be Death (Mantas) was around since 1984 and morbid angel started in 1983. And debately the forst death meyal ALBUM was Possessed 7 churches in Oct 1985, but death meyal definitely already existed but was limited to under 5 bands until around 1986.
