Seems like the lack of autocorrect would be a benefit. I know some people like writing on typewriters for that reason. Also supposedly John Steinbeck wrote his novels in pencil. Apparently writing by hand is even better for some kind of cognitive reasons.

Love a good typewriter. People are definitely on both sides of the fence in regards to autocorrect. I've heard both sides, and can relate to both, but I find it is situational. How do you feel that you want to write? How does it feel to not want to write? Why not just write for the sake of writing and figure it all out later? I find myself in the last camp mostly. Everything will fall into place eventually. Thanks for sharing 😁

Discovered this just now. I was feeling like a lot of the more grown channels, long standing reviewers aren't really... true? Paid maybe? Concerned with appealing to the product manufacturer? Mustn't necessarily be true in all cases. But I seem to trust the smaller channels more, the folks that seem like genuine people just taling about their human experience with something. Like you. This was probably the most true, the most helpful video on the device I've seen. Thanks, man. Please don't change. Gonna watch this channel.

Wow, I really appreciate the feedback. I am still working on the RM2 daily. I've been focusing on my novel for the last few months, which has been challenging and rewarding. I definitely agree with your sentiment on smaller channels. It feels a lot like the bigger you get the more you need to fit into a box, schedules, commitments. While all of that is true if you want to grow your reach, it does often feel like it takes away from the genuine parts that made you share to begin with. Sure, like anyone else I would enjoy being able to live just off my creativity, but I don't ever want this to feel like a job. I couldn't imagine turning around and being a channel that releases videos "Every X and Y at 8 .m." blah blah. Anyway! 😄 Thank you for sharing, and allowing me to rant for a moment.

I can't imagine going back to old fashioned hand writing regardless on real paper or some high-tech display. I type faster, sometimes faster than I can think. But I'm not sure if the remarkable would be for me even with a keyboard. It has all the benefits of being distraction free, which I really like. But I'm dyslexic, I sometimes have enormous problems spelling the simplest words. That's where a word processor with spelling correction has its benefits. All the same, I might try the remarkable out, warts and all, and edit my text later on a PC. Thanks for sharing your experience

Seeing insights on the new RMP Pro. It seems like staying with the RM2 for the long haul will work best for me. I am doing all the hardcore editing on my Mac anyway. I could suggest using a RM2 to free you from the idea of "enormous problems" Sometimes we speak in such brutal terms, and we talk about/with/to ourselves in really rough ways. Hey, it's your life. Having dyslexia doesn't really create "problems" unless you want to look at it that way. Like you said , you'll tune it up on PC. For now.. be free. Enjoy yourself, paint the page, live free. Be Well!

Thank you for the video!!! How’s the book going?! I've discovered that, there will be nothing like a Lap or desktop. The rM2 or the paper Pro is fantastic for brainstorming, outlining, and maybe (MAYBE) pantsing yourself through a rough draft, but sooner or later during the process, you'll find yourself going back to a writing software. The Boox devices can have a Word or Google Doc (not a Scrivener or Plottr) but if you are already using something like that, it'll be much better to do so on a proper device like a laptop or desktop. In my opinion, the rM2 and Paper Pro are notebook or paper replacements and we should not make the mistake of thinking that it should do more than that. Cheers from 🇲🇽 !!!!
@Yekie

Definitely lots of pantsing with the RM2 and RMPP. The digital syncing integration works well enough for laptop editing after bringing it into my Pages app. The proverbial 'STOP' when importing works well for my needs. With my book (which is on chapter 38!) it helps me bring in the meat of the writing and less of the filler fluff. The RM2 is for writing/typing, margin edit, annotations and highlights. All of the real structures are developed after the import. I have looked at other devices, but there might just be too much of an ecosystem dichotomy that removes the effective pantsing.

Because of a near Death experience video I recently watched, I now have a much better understanding of what you went through by having that Dream one night. I now think that Dream you had was Your Inner God giving you an Early Look at your Life Story Review, which is often only revealed to people who are either on the Edge Of Death or Have Died because their time was up, and by Your Inner God giving you that Early look at your Life Story Review he was hoping that it would help you to Love and Value Living Life More!🤔🙏🏻

Interesting 🤔. I am working on a few things lately. Mostly, limiting the moralizing of ideas, topics, the "This vs. That" or "Good vs. Bad" mentality. These ideas in society can be conflated in the sense, with the intrinsic notion of "value". In this life, in this world, in this timeline there are these dogmatic notions created by the strife (versus) between energies pulling you in all sorts of directions. One can consciously ignore hunger, but the body persists and will send the signals to argue with you to feed it. One can ignore thirst, but the body will introduce strife throwing your mental state into the unbalanced. These are things we often ignore because they are seeking stasis. Balance and equilibrium. So, all of this to say .. The heart wants what it wants, but if the body is hungry. Well, then a burger will do just fine. Oh, and bring the check with the order. We're gonna take this to go! 🤔🤔🤠

Ok so as humans we have so much in common. I am a watch collector. Everything from omega to mido to Oris to a G shock to Hamilton to Seiko. But, every damn day I am wearing the Apple Watch. I once stopped working out because I didn’t have the watch with me and “wasn’t getting credit”. I try to tell myself to wear my real non smart watches at least three days a week. It was my Apple Watch that told me my day job was killing me, as the high heart rate alerts started popping up while sitting in my cube. It was also my Apple Watch that allowed me to identify my aunt’s AFIB because her blood pressure kept coming back inconclusive. I sent her to the cardiologist and she is now on medication. But this watch has also reminded me on the daily that I am in slow cardio fitness decline. So I hate it. 😂

Ok this is probably going to sound like I am a horrible person, but I use the digital notebooks so I can write down how angry I am with work- or sometimes even my step daughter -and if I were to die I would not want them seeing these complaints because it would be hurtful . It’s not that I am trying to be duplicitous but it’s a way of working through real emotions that aren’t always positive. Last thing I need is for that travelers notebook to become the family novel 😂

Great and important video! With this "infinite" pages update 2 years ago I don't see how its possible to write a whole book unless you make every chapter a new Notebook and still then its amazingly cumbersome to back reference something. We need actual pages and Remarkable Team were numbskulls for removing it and giving no alternatives.
@Yekie
@Yekie 4 ай бұрын
You are spot on, every chapter is a new notebook! Currently on chapter #32. I have found my rhythm in the chaos that is the simplistic layout of features on the Remarkable 2. In my personal experience, it has been surprisingly easy so far. The UI is so simplistic; that it actually changed the way that I write. Not good, not bad, just different. How refreshing it has been to approach writing that is simply, different. Unattached to any style, preconceived rules, margins, space, etc. Yet, it is still just my writing, musings, mind maps, creative and uncreative expressions. My emotions filtered into something that can make me, you, or anyone possibly feel, something. On a side note, yes it could use some improvements, but wow! What a time to be alive, how lucky we are to have access to these tools, and tech. Thanks for checking in 😊

This is the closest I have ever come to seeing my own experience with fear and anxiety vocalised online or even offline for that matter. Your words mean to me that the world is open, is out there. I am so happy that this resonates with you. I am grappling with the fact that this fear is simply "different" which leans away from the perspective that it is "Me, I or You" (world/family/job/etc). The fear is simply something that I'm supposed to live alongside and not manage or give power to.

I have a Remarkable 2 and I thought by now I would have the keyboard/case as well. But watching other people type on it, I've decided it's not for me. I usually type with a keyboard on my lap (something this can't do) and I need to elevate the back of the keyboard when typing on a desk. This keyboard sitting flat on the table would ruin my wrists and forearms. Do you experience any of that? Good luck with your novel!

Totally understandable. My husband has had similar issues over the years with various tablets w/accompanying cases, docks, etc. I have been fortunate enough not to experience the same. He's even exclaimed "How can you sit like that?" I'm not sure "how", but I have always moved/adjusted frequently when sitting. The RM2 is fine for me, even when sitting crosslegged on the couch. In my perspective we people are an Ungrateful Species of Life that never should’ve been brought into existence! We’re brought into this world to exist with No Real Purpose, and because we can’t accept that, we attempt to do everything we can to make up purposes for ourselves so that we Don’t Feel Useless, but No Matter How Much We Try To Hide From It The Truth will always come back to Haunt Us with the Dark Reality’s of our Existence!

No one chooses to be here, and no one arrives without going through the trauma of birth. "Do what needs doing." That might present the question of "Who decides what needs to be done?" In reality the question just in itself is an attempt to label existence as if it is somehow determined by the question in part, but labels themselves are camouflage. Aww. Heck. This exact scenario just happened to a friend of mine. Glad you’re ok with it, and any flowers from the nursery is nice of course, I have some in window boxes….but if you ever wanted to try natives again you can look up like.. native plant society, or native wildflower association, etc… and your state. And get the resources to buy actual natives from reputable growers, probably even free seeds from other backyard gardeners, meet some nice folks. Or contact your nearest university’s cooperative extension office. (My unsolicited-advice-giving credentials are: I’m a master gardener, worked for cooperative extensions, member of native plant societies, remover of invasive species, and my entire lot is native plants)

It is always difficult to find reliable sources, and then take a path only to find out; that the resources everyone latches onto, just don't deliver. 😒🥹This is precisely why I decided to make this video. Thank you for the insight. I will have to hunker down and go to an actual local garden, rather than the "Internet garden". 😊
