Wear earplugs and get over it. Ive been going to loud local metal shows and loud concerts most my life, i wouldn't even wear ear plugs at band practices. my biggest regret is not wearing ear plugs. A concert or show that is too quiet is an absolute buzz kill, wear ear protection if youre worried about it. Otherwise enjoy the experience. Nothing worse than trying to enjoy something and you can hear crowd chatter over the entertainment.

Maybe I’m doin something wrong. When I drag the Neptune and compressor I don’t see a reaction or any lights picking my vocals up. Do I have to flip the rack and wire it or what could cause this?

I think I’m going with the ear defenders. I don’t even go to concerts. But here’s a thought- why don’t they use dual-sided speakers- so it can come from more than one direction, so it doesn’t need to be as loud.

Nah you're not wrong mate. I recently went to see Foo Fighters in Cardiff (which made me find your video) and it was the worst show I've ever been to. It was so loud 2/3 of the way back, I couldn't even tell what 25-50% of the songs even were until I heard people next to me singing. On the way back to the hotel, I felt dizzy, sick, couldn't look at street lights (I had my sunglasses on at 11pm) and had a headache. Alongside utterly dogshit venues for acoustics, this trend is ruining live music.

Thanks very much for this review. I was considering ACE custom voice for my own songs that I’m writing. I like the sound of my voice, but I am not a strong singer, and my vocal range is fairly narrow. I was hoping that ACE could map the timber of my voice onto a strong vocal performance, but this does not appear to be the case. I think your idea is right, that it would be great if you could upload a song you sing to service and have it return something that sounds better but it’s still your singing. But until that technology becomes a reality, I guess I will go back to the old way, which is to write songs that fall within my vocal range, practice a lot, do a lot of takes, comp them together, and pitch correct as best I can.

I hope they made this simple in Reason 13..... this is why I use Reason for just music production. After the production, I use another DAW to mix and for sidechain functions and more fx channels,

Was just a two Metallica concerts, and not wearing earplugs while not only being painful to my ears it also just bad, like all the instruments are mushed together, no detail in the sound, while with my trusty earplugs in, it sound incredibly detailed. When looking around I rarely see anyone using earplugs though. And in addition to that I've seen people complaining at bad sound, while sound quality may vary depending on where you are in the venue, I think most of the people who complained didn't use earplugs.

My answer is, most sound guys are just that: sound guys. The are not 'music men', they aren't used to hear the variety of acoustic instruments up close. They've learned to make m sound loud without making them feedback (if you're lucky). They just have got no clue, apart from loudness, it seems. 😢

Thanks for doing this. I subscribed to ACE and was looking into custom voice. Your video helps a lot in my decision. I found the voices they come with are thin and probably are good for pop music. I had the same problem by trying to increase the tension. The Air sometimes helps if you are looking for some hoarseness.

Much live music at festivals etc I find painfully loud and mostly doesn't really sound very good anymore. Ear protection make the sound volume bearable, but cut the high frequencies much more than the bass, and make everything sound muffled and unbalanced and the only advantage is that the music can be felt in the body more. I think the P.A.-soundpeople have already a damaged hearing and don't notice how loud things are anymore, and when they use booze and/or cocaine it makes the problem even much worse.

Get a good mic first then get plug-ins if you are not satisfied with free ones. Trust me I have struggled for years until I get my Telefunken M80 before I was using Rode NT-1A with capsule changed to RK12 one yet it did not sound good enough for me cause of NT-1A's circuit bump on 4 and 5,6 khz which was ugly ear bleeding highs on my voice.When I got the Telefunken M80 everything changed

Thank you!!!! You are literally the only video on KZbin that shows the new voice clone feature. How long has this thing been out now, a month? And nothing! I almost tried it myself but I had a feeling it wasn't quite yet up to snuff and didn't want to risk $300. Your video confirms my decision 😂 Dreamtronics will probably have this feature eventually and they'll do it right.

@@_thomaswarburton they have vocal AI software called synthesizer v, you purchase voices for it. Most are in Chinese but they have a few English native singers, my favorite is Hayden for male, Solaria for female. It will blow your mind and you will never use Ace Studio again 😂

Few reasons it is turned up. The more the noises travels the less loud it will be. Or to up it this why no one in the back will hear anything if you get it way to low. That means the larger the venue the turning it to 85db the people in the back won't be able to hear as well. Now there is something to be said for smaller venues. But large venues such as stadiums they have to turn it up.

I was at Bring me the horizon 3 weeks ago in Melbourne, it was a arena show. I was sitting at the back of the arena and can assure you that it was way louder than 85db. If I didn't have ear protection, I would have damaged my hearing, (I heard multiple people complaining of their ringing ears after the show ended). I could see the engineer's desk from my seat, he had a monitor that displayed a loudness meter, every time the kick drum hit it spiked at 110db. Then with the rest of the band it was at least 95db - 100 where I was.

And how about all the video bloggers that are filming handheld when the time requires it? Are they not professional just because of that? The guy is making a casual KZbin video so that people like you and me can take part of the information for free. There is a big difference between vblogging and professional training material. If you’re looking for professional training videos, then maybe KZbin is not the right place to hang out. And you should also be ready to cough up some cash in that case. This is KZbin, a place where video bloggers post their videos. Some do it casually, some do it in a more serious fashion. It’s really up to the content creator to decide. Also, the accuracy of the information shared in the video will not change just because someone is hand-holding the mic. If a camera were to be handheld and the video becomes super shaky as a result, then that could potentially impact the viewing experience. But this is audio we’re talking about, not video. And the audio quality was not bad in any way. So I have no idea what you’re even complaining about.

You can use the VST adapter "ACE Bridge". It installs (optionally) with ACE Studio itself.
