Pretty easy to understand what Barbie is trying to say and I am a white man. Also the "dig" at the Snyder Cut was a funny joke and I think the entire joke is directed at you and this video lol. I am over invested in the Snyder cut as well, I think it's subpar granted but I mean come on now. You don't have to be smart to understand Barbie.

Zack snyder is an excellent visual director. I actually think he was the right man to helm the DCEU however from MOS to JL there is so much thematic disharmony. Take MOS, krypton falls because their society has become deterministic. With everyone having predetermined roles, predetermined births. It is also telling that their chief scientist(appointed world smartest man) jor el actually tells them the planet is doomed and they should go to the stars (which they have the means to do and have done so before). This implies that kryptons way of life is wrong. Meanwhile on earth what we see of clark is that there is no talk of freedom, morality, doing good. His dad just wants him to hide and his mum says "save them or dont". Clark is just a good dude because "he's better". Which is a fair enough thesis for a superman film but the opening has all but claimed that krypton has lost the ability to produce "better". For all their technological and physical superiority which is expertly portrayed. These beings are gods that humanity can only watch helplessly but for all that they are culturally dead. This culminated in a superman that has his wonderful godgiven moral superiority stripped when he has to kill zod. If they were going to say he's just better. Then hed have to find a way to subdue zod without killing him because thats just what superman would do. But instead we have this morally superior yet pragmatic superman. I still like the film but you see what im saying it gets a bit disharmonious and this continues into bvs

@duckmilkprod
@duckmilkprod 6 ай бұрын
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I didn't delete any comment you made. As a rule, I don't delete comments even if they criticize my appearance (and some have). The comments I responded to are the ones that I saw in my notifications. I saw no comment where you apologized to me, which I thought was strange because it didn't seem like you read anything I wrote. All I did during that charity event was thank Supergirl.tv for donating to the cause (especially, since they gave quite a large amount). We had the Supergirl.tv people on one episode of Supergirl Radio and had a lovely time. They were always very supportive of our podcast and were nothing but nice to us. I thanked them for their donation and gave them a shout-out. That's a professional and polite thing to do. What you did was then blast me in the live chat for doing so and creating an awkward situation during what was supposed to be a fun and uplifting event. I could have acknowledged what a jerk you were being and called you out for it, but out of respect for you, I didn't. I let you say what you wanted to say and moved on with what we were doing. If you had beef with Supergirl.tv, that was not my business and had nothing to do with me. I made an effort with Supergirl Radio to create community among fans and the people who were associated with that website were part of it. I never “platformed” people just because they "stole your business" (could another Supergirl website not exist?). We interacted with them on Twitter and they seemed like fun and nice people. We invited them onto the podcast to talk about the show since they were so passionate about it and they agreed. I remember asking you if you wanted to come on Supergirl Radio and you said no. I'm sorry if you felt hurt by that, but we acknowledge people for their contributions and I said nice things about them because they had always been nice to me and Supergirl Radio and they did a generous thing by donating. Even if you didn't like me doing that, is being mean in the live chat of a charity event really the best way to handle that? If you felt like I was "rudely ignoring you", what was actually happening with me that day was that I was worried you would say something mean to me because our previous interactions prior to the charity event had been emotionally awful for me. You had been so mean to me on Twitter and Facebook so seeing you show up in our live chat made me uneasy. But, even so, I didn't tell you to leave. I let you be part of what we were doing even if truthfully, I would not have wanted you to be there. On top of all that, we got to as many live chat thoughts as we could during our conversation and I tried to mention comments that had different and unique comments. Would you have even expected me to address your comments after how incredibly nasty you had been to me and you kicked me out of your life? You have called me brainwashed, told me to move on from things that mean a lot to me, and accused me of things I didn’t do. How is that making peace with me? I don’t think I am a sad person. I have joy through my faith. I live near my family now so I get to see them and more of my friends more often. I have a ton of fun podcasting. I have been practicing photography and have been given opportunities to be a video director at church which are both very exciting hobbies. I get to tell people’s stories and learn things though my day job. And I am even celebrating ten years being Cancer-free this year. I might be obsessed with some movies, but they are usually ones I get a lot out of, that have entertained me, or carry special meaning for me. In addition to BvS, I am also obsessed with PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE, SOAPDISH, THE MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN, FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF, WHAT ABOUT BOB?, and BIG BUSINESS...just to name a few. 😀 I think people loving things they love is awesome even if it is something I don’t love in return. You don't have to like the movies I like (I realize most people don’t), but I do wish we could disagree in a better way. I can’t change anyone’s opinions. I can only share mine.

Hi, Craig. I didn’t initially see that you posted two comments. Thanks for helping with the algorithm. It doesn’t matter to me if other people thought the Snyder Cut was garbage. That’s also not the point of this video. I was actually trying to present a bit of film analysis about the writing on BARBIE and how that “joke” didn’t make sense to me, given the premise of the film. If you don’t like people talking about the Snyderverse and Zack Snyder’s films, this KZbin channel is maybe not for you. I focus on those films a lot here because I like discussing them and hearing thoughtful opinions about what other people got out of them. The thing about the Barbie movie is it's not trying to tell you what the "right" thing to do is. All it does is highlight the "wrong" things and then let you decide what to do instead. Is it "wrong" to become too invested in the Snyder Cut of Justice League? I would hope we all know the answer to that. Every fandom has its toxic elements, and not being able to acknowledge them is definitely "wrong". I was part of the Release the Snyder Cut movement from before that hashtag was even coined, and there were definitely elements of the movement that made me cringe. I'm cringing now, even, at people who get offended when jokes about the fandom crop up in pop culture. Zack was okay with the Barbie joke, and so am I. You can believe it was important that it get released *and* acknowledge that some people were just "too invested" in seeing it released. It's out now; let's just be happy about that.

In my opinion, it’s not so much that the film says that nobody can be invested in the Snyder Cut. Just that women who were/are were brainwashed by men to be so, which is silly given how many actresses with crucial roles were added back in and female characters were treated better. Zack doesn’t seem to be bothered by it and that’s great. But that joke is taking more aim at his female fans. I’m not outrageously offended by it (though I do think that a “joke” not actually being funny is offensive), but I do think it is bad writing that contradicts the premise and purpose of the movie. I aimed to structure this video to be an attempt at film analysis more than anything else.

@@thecraigbyrne Hi, Craig! Thanks for commenting. Hope you are doing well. Yes, I did get upset when someone called me a liar when I was not. I was actually so upset it that I cried when the panel was over. I’m admittedly more of a sensitive person than most people so I get it if other people think it was stupid to be upset about. Not too long after it happened, I ran into a stranger outside of the building who told me that he was at that panel and that even though he didn’t like BvS, he appreciated my unique thoughts on that film and his comment made me feel better. It was a kind thing for him to say at a time I needed encouragement. I have never given up on a friendship because someone disliked a movie that I liked, but people stop being friends with me because of my opinion. If you are referring to yourself and chose to make this a public comment, I’d like to set the record straight. I don’t know where you got the idea that I stopped being friends with you or anyone because of a dislike of BvS. I have tried to be your friend, but you were continually verbally abusive to me (cussing at me and berating me in public Facebook comments and through Facebook Messenger). You deleted me from Facebook because I made a joke about how much I love Chick-fil-A minis (which I don’t even eat that much because I try to avoid fried foods). You took that as a personal slight which was never my intent. I was genuinely making a joke about how those Minis are delicious and addicting. And even when I said something to the effect of “If you don’t like Chick-fil-A, you don’t have to eat there”, I said that out of my own personal philosophy to vote with my dollars to suggest that if you hate the company so much, the good news is that you do have to support them. After that exchange, I realized you had deleted me as a Facebook Friend because I could no longer reply to you. In Facebook Messenger, you would routinely cut me down for liking BvS. You ruined a public CHARITY live stream I did by being nasty to me in the live chat (just because I gave another Supergirl website a shout-out because they donated money to the charity we were raising money for; what was I supposed to do?...not thank them?). When I say “ruined”, I mean because of you, instead of celebrating how much we raised for a good cause after it was over, I cried for a long time. You were randomly awful to me on Twitter when I tweeted from Supergirl Radio to promote our TeePublic store and the Girl of Steel S Shield we included that looked like Henry Cavill’s Superman. You did that because you knew it would hurt my feelings because Henry Cavill’s Superman means a lot to me (MAN OF STEEL helped get me through Breast Cancer). You have demonstrated time and time again that you don’t want to be my friend. That’s not the kinds of things friends do to each other. I only ever tried to encourage you during your hard times, even going as far to offer to help you financially (which you rejected). You were the one who kicked ME out of YOUR life. Because of the way you have treated me, I have left you alone since that is seemingly what you wanted. But for whatever reason, you keep attacking me. In any case, I sincerely hope you have a wonderful day and are doing well in whatever you are doing.

@@duckmilkprod I absolutely did not kick you out of my life. YOU unfollowed me on Twitter because of BvS stuff. YOU chose to promote that website when you know how emotionally it affected me, which was classless considering I helped bring you up and had been part of the whole charity event. That whole night I was FREQUENTLY complimenting your opinions and you just rudely ignored me, and then when you promoted those people who stole my business, yes, I'm going to be mad. I know you know what they did with the domains, and since I see how you only focus on how it affected you, then clearly you weren't sorry for it. (Also, calling BS that you followed/shared them on Twitter rather than me, when I feel like I always had a good sharing relationship with the podcasting network.) Do I regret freaking out about that during the event? Maybe a little, but there was no other way to get through to you when you ignored me all night, and I did get my point across. But again, go on about how you were the only one hurt by that interaction, or hurt when being told that one couldn't participate in future events. If you had treated me with respect, it would not have gone to that level, but the ignoring showed you didn't respect me. Frankly, I don't care if I "ruined" it for you, because you did the exact same thing to me. Maybe consider that when someone is extending an olive branch, it is just that. Honestly, and this shouldn't be public, but I even tried to apologize to you, to at least get to a place of peace, and you ignored it. That hurt a lot. It also hurt that I heard you freaked out when I came into a Supergirl Radio stream - I wanted to be there to cheer you on and encourage you, with something that we both loved. You know who else cried as a result of our interaction? Me. I was scared as all heck when you had Breast Cancer and was so grateful that you got through it. I worried about you SO MUCH. I am glad these movies helped you have strength, and I hope I'm not making assumptions with that. I cared about you a lot. I hope if you ever got anything out of our interaction it is that I did care. I know you went through a LOT. Would never take that away from you or diminish or deny that. As for Chick-fil-a - I believe what you said might be right though I honestly don't recall all the details and I assume it came after you unfollowed on Twitter. It was around the time you were spreading anti-Hillary Clinton propaganda which is the kind of stuff that got Trump elected, so maybe I lumped them all together. I'm sorry for that, if that was something that affected you so much. At least hey - now my feelings are known! I understand if we are toxic to each other, but I would really appreciate it if we could at least acknowledge it and agree to disagree, in which case I promise to never leave a negative comment like the ones I left ever again. But please don't just assume the worst of me, either. It hurts to feel rejected by someone you considered a dear friend; especially when you put a lot of time and possibly unseen energy into worrying about them. Hurt people hurt people, they say, and I was definitely hurt, especially by the ignoring and then promoting those scummy people.

I think you're choosing to take it as a diss. Nothing about the joke itself was dissing zack snyder. Keep in mind, i say this as a zack snyder fan.

I'm just curious to know what the reaction would be if the joke wasn't about ZSJL but about Marvel movies or superhero movies in general. Cause in the past I've seen the reactions to people joking about women not caring about "nerd stuff" and they've never been enthusiastic or amused.

My analysis and interpretation of the “joke” (I use quotations because for it to be comedy, it needs to be funny and for it to be funny, it needs to contain truth in it, which it did not, in my opinion) as I have tried to present in this video is actually making fun of female Snyder Cut fans. Maybe the studio wanted to take a swipe at Zack Snyder, but the context of the scene is aimed at women. I’m choosing to take it that way because that is how the film includes it.

@@HumbleSiPilot77 Zack seems like a pretty chill dude who doesn't take criticism of his work too seriously. I admire that about him because it's tough for me not to take that kind of thing personally. I don't know how he does it. But, he seems to focus on doing the creative work and then moving onto the next thing. He's also a big family man and has lots of hobbies so that probably also helps. "Touching Grass" is good advice for a reason. I was more offended by the "joke" in BARBIE not being funny. It was really irritating to me as a female fan of ZSJL because the movie took a swipe at someone like me without actually realizing that was what it was doing and that it undercut the message the movie seemed to be making (though, I'm still not overly sold on what the message actually was; I watched it twice and it seemed to be trying to say a lot of things without ever settling on a focused outcome). I'm over the "joke" and I mostly don't care about it because BARBIE was such a overall disappointment to me (visually, it's fantastic and the performances are great, but the writing was so rough). I did want to share my thoughts on this, though, because I didn't see or hear anyone else mentioning this contradiction.

Too bad Zack made Martha Kent the Martian Manhunter - so there goes that theory of a deep relationship.

What an honoring video to the Gospel! Not only an honoring video to the Gospel and the Lord but also to the Zack Snyder Batman V Superman film. I love the detailed input you put in for this video for each symbolism such as the crosses, Wonder Woman representing Peter, Bruce Fall of Man to changed man such as changed men in Christ. At first when I saw this movie, I thought it was an attack against the Christian faith. But after exploring it more, I realize what the multiple symbology that Zack Snyder put into this film it was actually honoring our Christian faith the whole time, just in a creative way that is outside the box. A huge thanks to Zack Snyder for honoring our faith and thank you for pointing out the Christian imagery and symbolism in one of the best superhero films ever.

I was worried about it when the trailers came out, but was surprised by how it preached the Gospel through metaphor and allegory! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
